Thoughts on Jamie Oliver’s house?!

Now you can see Jamie's REAL kitchen! Jools Oliver sends fans into a frenzy with snaps of their VERY palatial £8.9M Grade II listed London home (including a £2K super king bed and a wood-fired oven)

I think it is gorgeous. The Daily Mail readership is divided, some believing that Jamie/Jools lack class, one even quoting the “You can take the boy out of Essex...” saying. I find the reaction baffling. It’s as if they do not appreciate style and good taste when they see it.
Or perhaps they are filled with envy? Who knows.

OP asked for our thoughts on something.

It's not 'bitchy' to say what we don't like about the house.

SoupDragon · 19/12/2017 07:22

It's not 'bitchy' to say what we don't like about the house.

Well, that depends how it's said really. There are a good number of downright bitchy posts amongst the honest opinions.

“There are a good number of downright bitchy posts amongst the honest opinions.”

On a business. With product placement.

SoupDragon · 19/12/2017 07:59

No, on a personal level.

IJustLostTheGame · 19/12/2017 08:08

It looks a bit cold and draughty.
And grey.

52FestiveRoad · 19/12/2017 08:21

I can't see the garden, have the pictures been changed?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/12/2017 13:41

All that money and it's not even detached.

No wonder they are keen on telling us it's in Hampstead.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/12/2017 14:24

Grey? That is not my impression at all!

It’s very Pinterest-worthy! Grin

That said, I like it a lot. I’d have my own house like that if I had oodles of dosh. I don’t like the bed much though.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/12/2017 14:35

This is grey...

Not even detached!? Maybe they should have gone for a detached new build - all brand new and zero character.
Confused

Thoughts...It's his house??!!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/12/2017 14:51

Maybe.

Their decoration would fit right in.

All the 'arty' bits.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/12/2017 14:57

This is the interior of a new build show house...

www.bellway.co.uk/upload/corporate/media-centre/press-releases/new-detached-family-homes.jpg

Ghastly but new and detached - and totally devoid of taste or character!

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 19/12/2017 14:59

It's all down to opinion.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/12/2017 15:05

My opinion?

They made that fantastic house look like a glorified semi. It's twee and try hard.

But it's their home and their money and if they are happy then that's what matters.

You seem very invested in this, OP.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/12/2017 15:13

Invested? A Mumsnet fave. Lol

I simply love the style and the quirkiness of the interior. It is fabulous and is not down to having lots of money. Many footballers and film stars have lots too but most of their interiors are awful.

HTH

OP posts:
RoseWhiteTips · 19/12/2017 15:14

Do people really prefer that show house interior? Shock

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 19/12/2017 15:19

Perhaps you should write to JO and enthuse to him. OP. Grin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/12/2017 15:32

"LOL"

"HTH"

Clearly invested in this house.

Grin

Wonder why.,

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 19/12/2017 17:51

Have you ever heard of ‘personal opinion’ OP? Absolutely rude to say something is ghastly or awful because you don’t like it. The shocked face is beyond rude.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/12/2017 19:42

Oh rubbish!

OP posts:
RoseWhiteTips · 19/12/2017 19:46

I am totally uninterested in the lives of so called celebrities BUT I do like the pics of the house. So shoot me.
“HTH” and “LOL”

Lovely house, don't like what they've done to it.
Agree it looks cold, draughty and kitsch. For £8.9 million, I'd be very disappointed.

RoseWhiteTips Jools you seem far too overly invested in this, shooting down anyone who disagrees that it's not fabulous. Calm down. Different people, different tastes and all that.
