Thoughts on Jamie Oliver’s house?!

Now you can see Jamie's REAL kitchen! Jools Oliver sends fans into a frenzy with snaps of their VERY palatial £8.9M Grade II listed London home (including a £2K super king bed and a wood-fired oven)

I think it is gorgeous. The Daily Mail readership is divided, some believing that Jamie/Jools lack class, one even quoting the “You can take the boy out of Essex...” saying. I find the reaction baffling. It’s as if they do not appreciate style and good taste when they see it.
Or perhaps they are filled with envy? Who knows.

His hair caught my attention more than the house Grin

endehors · 18/12/2017 19:52

Yes, photos please, hadto. We can't just take your word for it you know!

Lindibop · 18/12/2017 19:54

I thought it was awful and no, Im not jealous. My house is much nicer.

Laiste · 18/12/2017 19:55

So Jooles rose do you not think everyone has their own version of what's lovely? You've chosen this house as your epitomy of style and good taste. Great. It's not everyone's cup of tea though. There's no right and wrong.

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2017 19:56

It’s ok, too cluttered

Bumble thing on the table makes me shudder a bit

His hair!

Aworldofmyown · 18/12/2017 19:56

I love it! Confused why they would want pictures of it published though. Not judging, just seems a bit of an odd move for them.

RoseWhiteTips · 18/12/2017 19:58

epitome

Jools can spell

I love it, but like a PP, I am also an Essex girl so clearly a kindred spirit.

Aworldofmyown · 18/12/2017 20:02

Or has someone just collected together Instagram pictures from Jools account and made it look like they have been 'released'.

Aworldofmyown · 18/12/2017 20:02

chew me too - maybe thats it!!

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2017 20:02

How paradoxical. The lack of “clutter” is usually what makes a place cold.

You asked our thoughts. Confused

I also think it looks a bit dark.

dontwanttogetshafted · 18/12/2017 20:03

That’s it exactly. The juxtaposition of period features and very modern quirky touches works fantastically well.

Yep, I love it. It takes a lot of effort (and money) to make a house that grand & big look cosy & somewhere you have lived for years.

Basseting · 18/12/2017 20:07

It looks like a real house. lived in.
the garden looks lovely

It looks too contrived in their efforts to not look contrived.

Basseting · 18/12/2017 20:09

but i dont know why they'd not value their privacy a bit more from nosey herberts like me Grin

SilverySurfer · 18/12/2017 20:09

Hasn't he fucked off yet? He threatened that if Leave won the EU Referendum he would emigrate. Wish he would hurry up.

Laiste · 18/12/2017 20:11

Did he silvery? Could that explain the way the vote went? Grin

dontwanttogetshafted · 18/12/2017 20:11

Agree slightly Lindibop.

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2017 20:12

I try not to avoid his goings on. Last thing I remember is him saying breastfeeding was easy or some such.

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2017 20:13

Try to avoid that would be. Grin

ThisBigSky · 18/12/2017 20:18

I think he's a twit for sharing that photo of the kid in the bath...

RedForFilth · 18/12/2017 20:19

Obviously I wouldn't turn it down if offered! Especially since I live in a tiny house in the rough part of my town! But it just doesn't look to have a homely feel for me, which is a must.

Sparklesdontshine · 18/12/2017 20:22

It’s beautiful, I would love a house like that!

AnonymousToday2 · 18/12/2017 20:23

It's beautiful and looks lovely in a staged and professional shoot kind of way.

If you believe that they are 'natural' or ad hoc family snaps you must have come down with the last shower though Grin . A pair of bright red wellies placed at an artful angle in front of a child's bed (wellies kept in the bedroom? Really?). A nursery that looks like it's from the 1940's and has never seen a child - have you seen the bits and bobs and nik naks on the tables - of a 16 month old?!?

Even Jamie's desk is clearly staged - look at the perfectly arty alternating angles of the books and such.

Lovely but not quite real life, even for them.
