Trump thread # 100 “Cannot you see that I, too, have a tall and beautiful person?”

Roman Emperor Nero wrote the above in a manual titled ‘Care of the Hair’. Nero was tyrannical, vain and cruel, and thought little of the lives of others. He also liked to erect buildings and carve his name into them. Smile if only we could learn well from the past.

Funnily enough, my Muslim friends were the first to wish me Happy Christmas this morning :)

badbadhusky · 25/12/2017 17:05

My orthodox Jewish friend popped round a few days ago with Christmas presents for my boys. Trump’s an idiot!

ImtheChristmasCarcass · 25/12/2017 20:16

My Jewish friend referred to herself as "Chanukk-Claus". We always exchanged Chanukkah and Xmas gifts and one year I got to take the 'child's part' at their Passover Seder (I was 24). I think our common humanity leads us to want to share our traditions with each other. It's only when jerks like Scrotus get involved with their divisiveness and fear mongering that we begin to pull back from that.

Hands across the water.

Saffronwblue · 25/12/2017 20:56

Hope all the lovely and resilient resisters on this thread have had a lovely Christmas and are feeling hope for 2018.

badbadhusky · 25/12/2017 20:57

Hands across the water.

As the late MP Jo Cox said: “we are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us.” (She was stabbed to death at her constituency offices by a man with a right wing agenda.) Her maiden speech (as a newly elected MP) was very uplifting.

cozietoesie · 25/12/2017 21:00

You'll be relieved to know that I 'got stuck' last night on Second Timothy (which comes before Revelation in the Big Bible.) There are some problems with Timothy - which is actually Paul to Timothy but:

" And if a man strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned except he strive lawfully."

lionheart · 26/12/2017 00:21

That's a good one--I did wonder if you would come back with some Revelations (as foretold in your earlier post). Smile

cozietoesie · 26/12/2017 00:35

As I also said, if I start intoning from Revelation, you should ignore the post. Second Timothy is fairly safe. Smile

lionheart · 26/12/2017 02:26

Timothy is not a remotely apocalyptic name and therein lies the danger.

Quite the contrary, perhaps? Wink

I hope everyone is having a great Christmas, then tomorrow it’s back to work in order to Make America Great Again (which is happening faster than anyone anticipated)!

Just 1 day off........will he be back to work.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 26/12/2017 08:48

Happy Boxing Day! Hope your heads are relatively unfuzzy, your homes uncluttered and your digestion unimpeded (these are my goals for today anyway).

Timothy does sound like it should be concerned with the rules about when it’s ok to bung hand wash items in the washing machine and whether tomatoes really are fruit or whether we should accept that labels reflect common usage of the word, rather than fire and brimstone, but my scant biblical knowledge is pretty dusty.

Segueing seamlessy from fire and brimstone to more of the same

I’m lacking the mental capacity to organise these into any sort of coherent order (see fuzzy head) though I’ll try my best but in all likelihood I’m afraid it’s just going to be a splurge of posts

Also, trump tweeted a meme where he had the blood of cnn on the sole of his shoe, Assange is back up on line, and the us navy made some cryptic comments about Assange and then blamed it on mistyping

Putin made up a charge against Navalny, convicted him, and said that people convicted of crimes couldn't enter the presidential election. He also jailed Navalny's brother. And his campaign chief.

Ask yourself why they barred Navalny from running. Letting him lose further legitimizes the regime. But he did better than expected in the Moscow mayoralty, in spite of the restrictions. They’re afraid. Good.

Also, I had no idea that Nikki Haley is Indian-American. It obviously has no bearing on anything (other than proving that my mother can spot fellow brown people where I fail abysmally and perhaps I should stop taking the piss and respect her skills) but I didn’t realise her family are Sikh.
