Trump thread # 100 “Cannot you see that I, too, have a tall and beautiful person?”

Roman Emperor Nero wrote the above in a manual titled ‘Care of the Hair’. Nero was tyrannical, vain and cruel, and thought little of the lives of others. He also liked to erect buildings and carve his name into them. Smile if only we could learn well from the past.

Yes, he could have stayed out.

I don't for one minute expect DT would resign over these allegations unless it was the lesser of two evils for him and GOP.

I'm not at all sure it would be the best resolution, given the hundred and one other issues his election and his presidency has raised. Sad

The dominant narrative would become a he said/she said conundrum and that might , ironically, be bad for women.

Would the Mueller investigation still run its course if that fool resigned?

cozietoesie · 18/12/2017 14:20

I suspect it would. But maybe with less impetus depending on the ostensible reason.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 18/12/2017 14:22

I would hope it would continue to be investigated because it’s looking into criminal matters although perhaps it would revert to normal law enforcement agencies and not have mueller leading it

Surprise surprise.

Russia meddled on Twitter after UK terror attacks, study says
www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-42393540

Suspected Russia-linked Twitter accounts were used to "extend the impact and harm" of four 2017 terrorist attacks in the UK, a study says.
[...]
"The evidence suggests a systematic strategic political communications campaign being directed at the UK designed to amplify the public harms of terrorist attacks," concluded the authors.

Perhaps he actually inhabits this alternative reality rather than just pushing it for political purposes

I absolutely believe he has his own 'reality'. It's not so much 'alternative', but the reality that is created by someone who has never heard 'no' and has always heard 'it's not your fault'.

Let's say Trump doesn't fire Mueller and the probe produces conclusive evidence of criminal behavior. Who will lay down the law? My last on GOP complicity

I'm less worried about Mueller being fired than about Mueller showing conclusive evidence of criminal acts and there being no repercussions for the incriminated

Trump confessed to obstruction of justice multiple times. Kushner and Sessions were caught lying on their clearance forms about foreign contacts.

Those are merely two examples of open, serious offenses for which there's been no penalty.

Rather timely

Senior Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee tell NBC News that they’re pushing to wrap up the Russia probe in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Democrats say they have requested as many as 30 additional interviews with new witnesses.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 18/12/2017 18:12

Can I make an confession?

I know he wears a wig and he’s probably bald in reality but it works on me and makes me think he’s younger than he is. I have to look at photoshopped pictures of him without hair to remind myself how old he is. It’s ridiculous I know Blush

ushuaiamonamour · 18/12/2017 18:19

That photo might have been taken at the moment he realised the gruelling hours of work he put into learning to say 'Grenidge' not 'Greenwitch' were all in vain: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/12/18/donald-trump-barred-greenwich-council-votes-not-welcome-borough/.

Trump was warned by senior FBI officials after he became the nominee on July 19, 2016 that his campaign could be infiltrated by Russia, and was "urged to alert the FBI about any suspicious overtures to their campaigns." Trump Tower meeting was on June 9.

@AshaRangappa_
FYI: This means that there is ZERO EXCUSE for anyone involved in the campaign to exclude Russian contacts from their SF-86, as they knew that those contacts could be foreign intelligence-related. That, and failure to notify FBI of multiple contacts, is...not normal behavior.

AcrossthePond55 · 18/12/2017 18:43

Let's say Trump doesn't fire Mueller and the probe produces conclusive evidence of criminal behavior. Who will lay down the law? My last on GOP complicity

This is absolutely my main fear. And one I've been dealing with by telling myself that GOP complicity is the reason that the Dems in Congress seemed to be dragging their feet; they were waiting until after the mid-terms and the hoped-for 'Blue Wave'™ that will give us a Dem majority.

But the recent acceleration of the Scrotus Gang's attempts & threats to derail the investigation which in turn seems to be starting to move the investigation a bit faster has me worried. Could the whole point of the threats be to try to get Mueller to 'go public' before November's elections?

If the GOP is still in power when the Mueller Report goes to Congress, there is a very, very great chance that the GOP-led House will not vote to impeach or that the GOP-led Senate will not vote to remove him from office.

cozietoesie · 18/12/2017 18:58

It wouldn't get to that, Across. Smile

(Although I take the points.)

Lweji · 18/12/2017 19:37

I know he wears a wig

Apparently it's a weaved contraption of either his own hair or extensions.

Anyway, you look at how world leaders age over the course of their 4, 5 or 8, 10 year mandates and it must be 10x faster for Trump (just the stress, not the work, as golf doesn't count).
He will get all shrivelled if he gets to 4 years. And we'll be too.

MiltonTheCockroach · 18/12/2017 19:58

No doubt this has been posted before but I think it's a beautiful thing and bears repeating.

cozietoesie · 18/12/2017 20:15

Thanks, Milton. Smile (I don't recall seeing it before.)

BREAKING: Amid national firestorm over #CorkerKickback scandal, Orrin Hatch admits he wrote key tax provision, which enriches @SenBobCorker, Trump, @SpeakerRyan & top GOP lawmakers. Nonpartisan experts slam Hatch for asserting the provision isn't new

Orrin hatch is someone I cannot stand, particularly after his faux outrage saying he was “sick and tired of democrats telling me this tax bill is for the rich”
