To go veggan?

Or will I be detested by vegetarians, vegans and carnivores?

IME many vegans can take a bit of an all or nothing stance, but I do think I would miss avocado and egg on toast. What do people think?

Worriedrose
Your question is silly: 'Except for XYZ (horrific thing), what's wrong with ABC (normal thing)?'
How can anyone answer that? Confused

BornInSydneyy · 15/12/2017 21:30

I’ve never heard it called that. Majority of people adopted that lifestyle would say plant based.

Glumglowworm · 15/12/2017 21:30

Nobody cares what you eat

But veggan is a ridiculous non-word. You’re not vegan if you eat eggs.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/12/2017 21:31

I think I am a wino-choc-eggan.

Shall I explain what I consume? Grin

Reallytired17 · 15/12/2017 21:31

Since we are nitpicking over ‘veggan’, it is your. Not you’re. You’re is an abbreviated form of you are. Above therefore should read ‘tell people you’re a vegan.’

VladmirsPoutine · 15/12/2017 21:32

StickThatInYourPipe Because then she'd miss out on 97% of the fun of being a 'veggan' - getting to tell others about it.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/12/2017 21:32

Oh blimey OP you are - sorry you're - a bit too try hard. Chill.

Fellia · 15/12/2017 21:34

No.

YANBU.

It’s your life.

No one cares apart from you.

If you say the weird word people will assume you are vegan but don’t know how to say it properly.

Everyone will be awkward.

Which is fine if you’re into that.

Wink
ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/12/2017 21:34

To go back to your original sentence - yes! You will be detested (not necessarily because you're a veggan-whatever though).

Reallytired17 · 15/12/2017 21:34

She’d? I am still here, reading Confused

Seriously, some of you need to calm the fuck down. Bit of ‘huh that’s not a WORD’ is one thing, but this level of aggression really, seriously isn’t normal.

OP posts:
StickThatInYourPipe · 15/12/2017 21:35

Omg I have a broken screen apologies! That’s why there was also a capital letter st the begging on the incorrect spelling of Your Hmm

I have not been a dick to you, I asked what a veggan is in a cross post, and told you just to eat what you want to eat. I then said eggs are less humane than honey, which you have not commented on.
Finally I just advised what I thought was a helpful comment to help you when you are going to other people’s houses and they are making dinner.

FML

Reallytired17 · 15/12/2017 21:35

Oh, just for being a cunt then? Well, back in the real world I’m considered quite nice! Perhaps I should return to it.

MissBax · 15/12/2017 21:35

Chill out OP

MrsSquiggler · 15/12/2017 21:36

Would rescue chickens be an option? Do you know anyone who keeps chickens or could you keep your own?

Otherwise no matter how carefully sourced you have the male chicks problem.

That being said I take your point about giving yourself the best chance of sticking to it in the long run. For instance I don't worry about whether my wine is vegan when I go out. You have to decide for yourself where to draw the line.

Titsywoo · 15/12/2017 21:36

Do what you like just don't go on about it and accept that you're limited on choices when you go out for dinner with other people as it's bloody hard to find good vegan options. My Dad and two friends turned vegan recently and it drives me mad when we go out for dinner. I know it's for health reasons/the good of the planet or some shit but it's like the ultimate in fussy eating to me (the one who always has to organise meals out apparently).

Reallytired17 · 15/12/2017 21:36

I’m not the one chest beating, swearing and flinging insults around because someone used a word I didn’t know, MissBax

Reallytired17 · 15/12/2017 21:37

And yes, I’d love chickens Smile

I think I need to spend an evening with chicks pootling about!

OP posts:
MissBax · 15/12/2017 21:37

Huh? I didn't say you were. But just eat what you like, don't talk about it, don't label it. Be happy. End of Xmas Grin

ButchyRestingFace · 15/12/2017 21:37

It's an egg eating vegan.

Genuine LOLZ.

😂😂😂

Fellia · 15/12/2017 21:38

Do what you like just don't go on about it

@Titsywoo

This x 10000 for most things in life, especially dietary preferences.

Worriedrose · 15/12/2017 21:39

The problem with animals being bred for specific reasons is that it's been thousands of years in the making.

So lots of animals wouldn't exist if we decided to abanded the "bred" animals now that's fine, but it's not realistic.
So let's try and do the best by what we have instead of having ridiculous fads. And I am not saying being vegan is a fad. I wholeheartedly accept anyone who decides it as a lifestyle.
But this picking and choosing bits of a lifestyle is idiotic.

Enwi · 15/12/2017 21:39

Do whatever you want. The more meat, dairy and animal products you cut out your diet the better. Everyone feels able to do this in different ways, and to different extents.

Like you posted this thread not expecting a robust response. Hmm

DownstairsMixUp · 15/12/2017 21:39

Most people couldn't give a shit what you eat. HTH

sizeofalentil · 15/12/2017 21:42

My dh and I are egg eating vegans. A lot of stricter vegans/veggies say it's not a thing, but we keep our own chickens and it's better than nothing. Eating eggs makes the rest a lot easier for us.
