Hi all, new to forum and looking for some advice.

My neighbours tumble dryer is on 10 hrs everyday. We can hear it in all rooms of our home and its next to the party wall. It on beteween 7am and 10.30pm. Everyday as best we can tell (we work full time) and every weekend. Its been like this for months. Quite honesty its making me very ill. We've been round several times and invited her to listen to noise which she agrees she can hear. She's making no effort to improve it though. We've made many suggestions such as pads, etc. Quite frankly i think she is inconsiderate. What do you guys think?

( snoozes whilst waiting for update )

Haggisfish · 11/12/2017 20:44

They must be high as kites if no fumes extracted!

candlefloozy · 11/12/2017 20:50

Could they be using the dryer as a heater? So is the fire or radiators not working? We have an open plan kitchen/living room and we leave the radiators if we need the dryer on and it Heats the room up. Just a thought

Fragglewump · 11/12/2017 20:53

What happened op?come back

OtterInDisgrace · 11/12/2017 20:54

Maybe the HA spoke to them today hence the quiet now.

BlackEyedKid · 11/12/2017 20:58

Omg!! I’ve found and cleaned the condenser! Didn’t have a clue it was there!! I’ve been complaining that it takes forever to dry stuff and that it often smells musty instead of fabric softener-y!!

I followed instructions on YouTube but it didn’t say anything about having to dry it! I’ve put it back in and turned it back on (was mid cycle). Will it explode??

Chattymummyhere · 11/12/2017 21:00

I guess the fluff would stick like glue to it maybe. I have no idea it was just in my instructions. Mine also beeps and flashes at me when it feels it needs cleaning

BlackEyedKid · 11/12/2017 21:02

I’m honestly cock a hoop about this 😊

SenseCheckMe · 11/12/2017 21:03

Hi all, dryer went back on mere minutes after my last post (7.35pm), still going. Suspect it'll be onto 10pm or later. I'll see if there is a whiff later, no smell atm.

BlackEyedKid I used to let it dry outside if it was warm or just leave it stood up in the bath overnight.

It really makes a huge difference.

General maintenance, goes a long way, Now dare I ask all of you, if you clean the little filter on the washing machine, that collects random stuff? Shock

Chattymummyhere · 11/12/2017 21:21

Never Tot but I just got a brand new bigger washer so I guess I don’t have to worry for a while.

AlexaDoTheDishes · 11/12/2017 21:36

Now I really need to know the outcome of this thread.

I love the CALL 101 RIGHT NOW AT 2am brigade Grin

My thoughts precisely!

TotemIcePole · 11/12/2017 21:59

They should both be done every month. The washing machine filter has fluff, coins, & any old shit from pockets in it Xmas Grin

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 11/12/2017 22:00

Now dare I ask all of you, if you clean the little filter on the washing machine, that collects random stuff?

Every single time I use it.

givemesteel · 11/12/2017 22:08

I obviously lead a very sheltered life, how do all of you know this stuff about weed farms?

I would have assumed she's running a laundry business from home, unless she's subletting rooms but I guess you might see people coming and going if that were the case.

If you can find out the landlord /agent details (can you remember who it was advertised with) you could report it as clearly no landlord wants a tumble dryer used that much, with the damage from damp plus the fire risk etc.

If it really is a weed farm I feel the police should be notified for the sake of the child if nothing else.

BMW6 · 11/12/2017 22:17

Cannabis farm.
There was one in a flat across the road from us. It caught fire as they had overloaded the electrics. Luckily no-one was killed, but neighbours said they could smell weed and there was a constant noise, but no-one bothered to ring the Police. (They were probably looking forward to the harvest tbh).

The fact that there is a strong smell of weed is reason enough to report to police OP.

Chattymummyhere · 11/12/2017 22:19

Is their electric box on the inside or outside of the house op?

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 11/12/2017 22:20

Might be a daft question but I am very familiar with the smell of someone smoking weed, however does the smell of it as a growing plant smell the same?

CougheeBean · 11/12/2017 22:26

Didn’t think I’d be saying this on MN but I have been inside weed farms, and yes extactor fans can be noisy but popular strains are grown under 24/7 light and the extractor fans could never be turned off for hours at a time. Even 10 hours a day wouldn’t be enough.

Maybe she just loves laundry.

DeadGood · 11/12/2017 22:27

Stop calling it a dryer! Can't believe you reported it as a dryer either. No wonder EH didn't give a hoot!

Kursk · 11/12/2017 22:39

Confront them and say you will report them as a weed farm, but you silence can be guaranteed for a price.

Haggisfish · 11/12/2017 23:26

Yes, the growing plant smells very pleasant actually.

IntravenousCaffeine · 12/12/2017 00:50

Intrigued so shamelessly placemarking!
