Hi all, new to forum and looking for some advice.

My neighbours tumble dryer is on 10 hrs everyday. We can hear it in all rooms of our home and its next to the party wall. It on beteween 7am and 10.30pm. Everyday as best we can tell (we work full time) and every weekend. Its been like this for months. Quite honesty its making me very ill. We've been round several times and invited her to listen to noise which she agrees she can hear. She's making no effort to improve it though. We've made many suggestions such as pads, etc. Quite frankly i think she is inconsiderate. What do you guys think?

Could it be a hydroponic grow machine? I was looking purely for research purposes and found this forum.grasscity.com/threads/do-hydroponic-grow-systems-make-noise.668495/

She could be running a laundry service. Or it could be fans from a cannabis farm. Our neighbours had one in their loft. My bedroom was in the loft too. They had some work done in the loft agency next thing I could hear this humming. It drove me demented at night. Have you seen inside the garage?

CercoCasa · 10/12/2017 20:24

or it might be a fan or a pump ?
If it is a tumbler then it must be a laundry business but on the DL

Has anyone else got an advert for a samsung washing machine / tumble dryer on the right hand side of their screen while reading this? These adverts are too good these days.

rcit · 10/12/2017 20:35

Some tumble dryers are so shit that they need to be on for a long time to actually dry the clothes.

WhyamIBoredathome · 10/12/2017 20:35

I've not rtft but could it be drier balls making the noise as they bounce around?

KhalliWali · 10/12/2017 20:35

I often wonder what our DP’s would think if they checked our internet history after a week on Mumsnet 😁.

This is all rather interesting www.theguardian.com/society/shortcuts/2013/oct/15/spot-if-cannabis-farm-next-door

EH are normally v good yes keep those lgos and send them all the info, they should arrange a visit :)

CercoCasa · 10/12/2017 20:42

Maybe before calling the cops, offer her some neighborly advice...she could get a silencer for it, or wrap wither a trabel blanket or sleeping bag around it to reduce the noise :) Who knew!

KhalliWali · 10/12/2017 20:52

What a fascinating article! OP, is it snowing where you are?

Chattymummyhere · 10/12/2017 20:58

I never put washing on the line intact I don’t have a line so it’s tumble come rain or shine.

If they have a really sick child could it be something for the child but they are saying it’s the dryer as they don’t want to disclose? 7-7 normal enough waking hours for a child presuming he/she doesn’t go to school that is.

SenseCheckMe · 10/12/2017 21:03

Snow on roof, but back bedroom window blind us drawn (will see if it opens during daytime hours tomorrow). Dryer is now off (only on for 7 hrs today). My bedroom reeks of cannabis upstairs. Will air for 20mins and seek if smell comes back.

Chatty do you unpick your clothing first, then dry it and stitch it back together then? Sorry Grin

SenseCheckMe · 10/12/2017 21:05

To me it genuinely sounds like a tumble dryer. Stops, drum spin sounds, starts up again.

I think if ur room smells funny then that kinda confirms it, unless you have neighbours on the other side who smoke too?
Also if they only smoke weed then the smell wont be there all the time, it will fade after they finish lighting up. Is the smell there often?

Killerfiller · 10/12/2017 21:15

I'd call 101.

I'd say your neighbour has a strong stench of weed from the house and there is constant electrical activity in the room next to your house.

I emailed the police regarding one of my neighbours he was lovely he just asked me to email him a few bits of info they raided a few times job done out they moved.

Should of went through crime stoppers and got some dosh.

I would defo report I only reporteded as the noise of them coming in and out of all hours pissed me off.

specialsubject · 10/12/2017 21:22

Somebody in there who shouldn't be, or tenants have fallen on hard times.

Look it up on right move to see if there was a letting agent, contact them. If not, try land registry for £3 to see if landlord name there.

Chattymummyhere · 10/12/2017 21:29

That was a funny type Grin but I’m too lazy. Even my washer is controlled by my phone Wink

user1492958275 · 10/12/2017 22:04

Maybe OCD? Washing towels, tea towels, bed covers, clothes and pyjamas etc each day? With a washer dryer these loads would take up a fair few hours of each day.

Maybe loads of washing to catch up on?

Air vent for bathroom or kitchen very loud? Fridge/freezer?

Sometimes things are louder to people when it's not in your own house. Sometimes I watch the tele of a evening wake up the next morning and have to turn it down!

Could be a simple case of they are used to the noise.

Also if you are not in all day every day how you be so sure they never leave the house? My front blinds are always shut, backones always open as bar the drive way I hate being open to the street.

Sorry OP! I'm only trying to offer solutions. Can understand what a PITA it could be for you. :(

Ontheboardwalk · 10/12/2017 22:15

I’d be worried about the fire risk if the dryer is on constantly.

My old dryer took 4 hours to dry a load. I’ve now got a new dryer and it takes less than half the time.

My old dryer used to get very very warm and used loads of energy

wannabestressfree · 10/12/2017 22:51

I thought she has tried crimestoppers and has no joy.

LoneParenting101 · 10/12/2017 22:53

Tumble dryers warm the room up! Cannabis needs heat to grow!!!!!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 10/12/2017 23:04

Surely there are cheaper ways to heat a room.
