Hi all, new to forum and looking for some advice.

My neighbours tumble dryer is on 10 hrs everyday. We can hear it in all rooms of our home and its next to the party wall. It on beteween 7am and 10.30pm. Everyday as best we can tell (we work full time) and every weekend. Its been like this for months. Quite honesty its making me very ill. We've been round several times and invited her to listen to noise which she agrees she can hear. She's making no effort to improve it though. We've made many suggestions such as pads, etc. Quite frankly i think she is inconsiderate. What do you guys think?

The fire risk would play on my mind, too. If their house goes up, so does OP's.

PrimalLass · 11/12/2017 17:54

I have my dryer on between 8am-7pm

All day, every day?

lizzieoak · 11/12/2017 17:58

SOmeonessnack, why do you have your drier on that long and would have it on for longer if possible? Confused

Sounds like a weed farm to me.

franktheskank · 11/12/2017 18:00

Some people need the dryer on all day if they have lots of children. Mines on all day too.

LoneParenting101 · 11/12/2017 18:02

OP what did HA say? X

Beezley · 11/12/2017 18:09

Sounds like someone next door to you is possibly growing cannibas.

ArcheryAnnie · 11/12/2017 18:09

I haven't had a tumble drier at all for some years now. I live in a flat, stuff air-dries indoors just fine. They eat up electricity and bugger your clothes up, anyway.

/misses point of thread

Smudge100 · 11/12/2017 18:11

i would call the police and tell them you think it’s a weed farm. I did that once when i thought - correctly, as it turned out - that my next door neighbour was dealing drugs from the premises. A couple of days later we were woken up at 5am by the next door’s entrance being broken down b6 a battering ram. They even had the dogs on it. Lost count of the number of black plastic bags that came out. They rely on the oublic to supply intelligence like that. We got rud of some nasty, vicious, anti-social neighbours just via a ohone call. If it’s making you ill, what have you got to lose?

rwalker · 11/12/2017 18:23

might be one of the new heat pump condenser dryer they use fraction of energy but take upto 4 hours to dry a load

CalebWomble · 11/12/2017 18:25

Been to EH today and they said there is nothing they can do its a domestic appliance.

OP are you reading the replies here? People are telling you it's probably NOT a tumble dryer (even if that's what your neighbour told you! She's hardly likely to say it's the fans for our cannabis plants!), so no point phoning up and complaining about a tumble dryer. You report a constant electrical noise and smell of cannabis.

Someonessnackbitch · 11/12/2017 18:27

To all who asked the question. Everyday except 2 days a week (when I’m at work). I have 3 young children and my partner. All getting quite dirty throughout the day. As I was writing this post my one year old has just thrown three sets of pj’s in the toilet, my son had just done a 💩 so that was lovely for me to dig out. The reason I stop at 7pm is because my dryer is in a cupboard in my children’s room, they go to bed at 7.
I’d prefer a weed farm that the amount of washing I have to do 😀

browneyes77 · 11/12/2017 18:40

Maybe their child is sick all the time because of all the weed they’re growing Hmm

I live in a flat and so have a condenser dryer, it takes 30-40 minutes to dry a wash of clothes. So I’d love to know what they’re ‘drying’ that takes 21 hours!

Neither of them work but can afford a huge electric bill from having a tumble dryer on all day? I smell a rat.....

SenseCheckMe · 11/12/2017 18:43

Spoke to both EH and HA today. Explained our suspicions too. EH were incredibly unhelpful. HA were sympathetic and are going to call us back. After talking to neighbour last week and continuing noise and smell, well today it stopped. Maybe they cleared the 'backlog' of activity. See what tomorrow brings. I don't want to call 101 just yet.

To be honest I’m lazy and don’t clean the bottom part of the dryer (condenser) there’s a big metal part which should be cleaned regularly. Without cleaning it takes about 3-4 hours to dry an average load. My partner cleaned it the other day and took about an hour to dry. I didn’t realise it had such an effect. That may be one of the reasons it’s on constantly

IHeartKingThistle · 11/12/2017 19:18

Someone's do you mean the lint bit? It's a massive fire risk if you don't clean it out.

Someonessnackbitch · 11/12/2017 19:19

No not the lint bit. I clean that. There’s another section next to the condensing part. It’s rectangular, metal and quite large

LynetteScavo · 11/12/2017 19:25

They're obviously MNetters who have read this thread! Bet they go quiet for a while now.

SenseCheckMe · 11/12/2017 19:32

First evening quiet in weeks. I'm keeping a log from now on of not just noise but smells too etc. Thanks for all your ideas and advice. I'll post an update later if anyone is still interested.

Farfromtheusual · 11/12/2017 19:33

Everyone saying that its a weed farm; what has a tumble dryer got to do with a weed farm? You don’t dry weed in a tumble dryer, surely? It would get smashed to pieces in there.

Or if it’s not a tumble dryer what is it? Lots of posters implying they know what it is but no one has said?

Extractor fans!!

Op stop reporting the tumble dryer noise and report the god damn weed smell!!

My tumble dryer would literally explode if it was on for 10 hours a day every day.

TotemIcePole · 11/12/2017 19:45

Someonessnackbitch - it still gets fluff in it, I used to put mine in the bath and get the shower head on it, loads and loads comes out. It will save you money, less drying.

Chattymummyhere · 11/12/2017 19:59

I really need to wash out my meta bit on my dryer. Not today though it’s been on all day, currently still on and I have to wait for the bugger to dry. Already got two loads to go in tomorrow before bedding Envy

Someonessnackbitch · 11/12/2017 20:00

Totemicepole. Yes! Tbh I only discovered this about two weeks ago. But haven’t cleaned it since. It was my partner that did it so I’ve now nominated it as his job. Knowing that it’s a fire risk means that he will be on top of it. Thanks for the word of warning!

BlackEyedKid · 11/12/2017 20:32

What??? Where is this metal bit??

Chattymummyhere · 11/12/2017 20:34

Bottom on the front behind a door/flap it looks like another filter but metal. You wash it but then according to my intrsuctions it have to be 100% dry before you use it again so it doesn’t get done often.

KhalliWali · 11/12/2017 20:35

I'll post an update later if anyone is still interested.

If anyone is still interested? Are you kidding? This thread is the most exciting thing going on in my life at the moment Grin !
