Hi all, new to forum and looking for some advice.

My neighbours tumble dryer is on 10 hrs everyday. We can hear it in all rooms of our home and its next to the party wall. It on beteween 7am and 10.30pm. Everyday as best we can tell (we work full time) and every weekend. Its been like this for months. Quite honesty its making me very ill. We've been round several times and invited her to listen to noise which she agrees she can hear. She's making no effort to improve it though. We've made many suggestions such as pads, etc. Quite frankly i think she is inconsiderate. What do you guys think?

Like balls is it a weed farm. No grower would dry out the weed in a tumble dryer cos it cooks and ruins it.

whatsleep · 10/12/2017 19:52

Shameless place marking 😬

DancingHouse · 10/12/2017 19:53

@lemony it's a washing machine that makes hash

NorthernLurker · 10/12/2017 19:53

Just call the police and say there's a smell and constant noise. Job done.

KhalliWali · 10/12/2017 19:54

Ya, call in da feds.

(I’ve been dying to use that expression since the slang thread on here the other day 😁)

iam16goingon17 · 10/12/2017 19:55

I reckon it's something dodgy too. Either they're growing, or she's runnning an unregistered business. Call the council?

franktheskank · 10/12/2017 19:55

Doesn't sound like a weed farm

specialsubject · 10/12/2017 19:58

Is it a rental? ( guess so as most druggie skanks don't wreck their own property).

If so contact the landlord. Bear in mind that even if he does want to evict it can take up to a year.

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 10/12/2017 19:58

I wouldn’t want her electric bill!

FlouncyDoves · 10/12/2017 20:03

We had a washer/drier that recently stopped drying effectively (think half a day to dry a handful of tea towels - the radiator was more effective!).

So maybe it’s a knackered machine. But with the weed link definitely call the police. If anything it’ll be interesting to see what happens!

riceuten · 10/12/2017 20:06

I'd do one last visit and say you'll speak to the Council and/or the police about it. If they are doing anything dodgy, this should smoke them out/

SenseCheckMe · 10/12/2017 20:07

Their washing machine is further back in the kitchen (we can barely hear it). The tumble dryer (or what ever it is) is next to the party wall. So all noise is coming from it. It was on for 21hours a fortnight ago. Bonkers.

That was just sat and sun

SparklingSnowfall · 10/12/2017 20:11

It can't possibly be a tumble dryer on for 10+ hours a day however much washing they do! It's got to be something else most likely a weed farm

W0rriedMum · 10/12/2017 20:11

Are the lights always on or the curtains drawn?

I'd also think cannabis farm.

elephantoverthehill · 10/12/2017 20:12

I know it has got very cold recently but since May have you ever seen any washing on the line? If I were doing that much washing I would try to dry it outside rather than increase the electricity bill.

SenseCheckMe · 10/12/2017 20:14

Yes, quite a bit of washing hung outside in summer, but 6-8 washing loads a day? No.

OP posts:
Amanduh · 10/12/2017 20:15

They can't have a tumble dryer on for 21 hours. No way.

SenseCheckMe · 10/12/2017 20:17

Lights always on in living room, blinds never shut at fromt of house. They rarely leave house (guessing due to sick kid).

OP posts:
SenseCheckMe · 10/12/2017 20:19

100% true about 21hours. We did leave house to run errands etc but it was always on when we got back (never on after midnight thou).

elephantoverthehill · 10/12/2017 20:19

Oooh this is a bit like Cluedo, so was the tumble drier still on when the washing was pegged on the line? Hmm

wannabestressfree · 10/12/2017 20:19

Don't count on the police being interested with weed. Next door to me smoke it constantly in brand new housing association property (indoors and in shed) and they said they weren't interested in personal use.

Bratsandtwats · 10/12/2017 20:20

Weed farm with associated electricals and extractors probably.

I was going to suggest they were growing weed too.

SenseCheckMe · 10/12/2017 20:21

Its a rental, they've been there a while (several years). But this a problem noticed in the last few months (since summer kinda ended).

OP I would have thought you live the other side of my neighbour if it wasn't end of Terrace. Mine has the dryer on for 10 hours a day also it makes me want to cry sometimes in frustration. However I know that she is running a launders service from her flat Hmmwhilst claiming HB and I don't want to be a grass but it really pisses me off. It's on before 7 in the morning and will turn it on whilst going out. My dc counted the other day it took her 13 seconds from walking in her front door to turn it back on Angry
