To think we need a General Election asap

Surely now is the time for a vote of utter no confidence in Theresa May. AIBU to think she and those around her are utterly incompetent and making Britain a laughing stock around the globe?

Anyone who votes tory should hang their heads in shame. Unless they get off on seeing people homeless and in poverty.

bluebells1 · 05/12/2017 07:52

With the labour and momemtum movement going so strong, I am sure it will be a landslide for May this time around. She is not stupid, she has learned from her mistake and knows the exact kind of carrot to dangle in front of the British people.

raisinsarenottheonlyfruit · 05/12/2017 07:53

StealthPolarBear may I ask, what papers / news sites do you read?

(Not having a go, genuinely interested which you were reading).

LunasSpectreSpecs · 05/12/2017 07:55

To be fair to May, she was against Brexit to start with and voted to remain. She doesn't want to be here any more than most people - but the fact is that the country voted to leave and she needs to get on with it. Her job now is not to moan about the referendum, but to concentrate on getting the best deal she can.

That's not easy as she's trying to balance so many differernt demands. Whatever deal she comes up with some people are going to be unhappy. But half way through this process is not a time for a change of leader. She started the job and should finish it. Once we're out of the EU, then that's the time for another election.

makeourfuture · 05/12/2017 07:56

she has learned from her mistake

Really? Do you read the news at all?

bluebells1 · 05/12/2017 08:01

Really? Do you read the news at all?

Probably better than you.

LunasSpectreSpecs · 05/12/2017 08:02

Anyone who votes tory should hang their heads in shame.

I'm not a conservative OR a labour voter but this sort of sanctimonious "i'm such a better person than you are" shite does my head in.

bluebells1 · 05/12/2017 08:03

Lunas look at their username. They are out to wind up people. Just ignore and the troll dies a natural death.

Noextremes2017 · 05/12/2017 08:13

What gets me about the whole farcical current situation is that the smug little twat who set us into this spiral - David Cameron - has just got away with it all and moved on with his very comfortable life.
The Maybot has many faults but she is a highly principled genius compared to Cameron who couldn’t even stand up to that ultimate ‘Bar Bore’ Farage.
Do we need an election? No. What we have got is crap - Spineless Johnson - being a prime example. But there is nothing better on offer unless you want to go back to the 1970’s with Corbyn or the 13th Century with Jacob Rees-Mogg........

LizzieSiddal · 05/12/2017 08:14

Blubell she hasn’t leaned from her mistakes.

-She triggered Articke 50 too soon
-She called an election she didn’t need (but I’m glad she did as it clipped the govts wings)
-She’s now trying to stitch up NI.

She’s incompetent.

makeourfuture · 05/12/2017 08:18

Again, maybe we are reading different news.

A PM's one requirement is that they control the Commons.

Our PM was called back from an international treaty negotiation by a party with ten MPs.

Who is in charge here?

LizzieSiddal · 05/12/2017 08:21

Make it’s called democracy.

The pm isn’t in charge because the UK public didn’t vote for her to have a big majority. The DUP are just doing their job of keeping her in check.

shhhfastasleep · 05/12/2017 08:22

It's not like Strictly/XFactor . There has to be a successful vote of no confidence in Parliament and no one else able to command a cobbled together majority.
This is a consequence of the Brexit vote. If you voted Brexit, live with it. if you didn't, like me, we have to live with it as well, I'm afraid.

shhhfastasleep · 05/12/2017 08:24

If the DUP want to be the same as the rest of the UK they should allow women in NI to have exactly the same right to seek a termination that women in the rest of the UK have.

makeourfuture · 05/12/2017 08:25

That silly, ill-thought-out referendum has no Constitutional validity.

Go look up Democracy in the UK.

Believeitornot · 05/12/2017 08:27

A general election is going to solve our problems.

We need proportional representation otherwise we just flip back and forth between two options.

We are heading for a messy Tory Brexit. The bones of our country - schools, hospitals etc are being run into the ground by the tories and will need billions to fix (haven’t we been here before Hmm).

It’s just awful.

Believeitornot · 05/12/2017 08:29

I mean a general election is not going to solve our problems.

I bloody hate that I can’t edit posts.

Nikephorus · 05/12/2017 08:30

You obviously didn't want her in, in the first place. I love these people who demand a re-election or re-vote when things don't go the way they want them to.
This ^. Maybe if everyone got behind her instead of sniping we'd have a better chance of getting a good deal for the UK - after all, she is doing this for the whole country and not just for those people who voted Brexit & Conservative. If the EU screws her over because she hasn't got the force behind her to bully them back then we ALL suffer.

sweatylemon · 05/12/2017 08:32

You think that's going to improve things???

makeourfuture · 05/12/2017 08:33

EU screws her over

They seem as baffled by this as any thinking person would be.

Why didn't they check with the DUP before flying to Brussels?

LizzieSiddal · 05/12/2017 08:41

Nike “get behind her”

Why the heck should people get behind someone who proves again and again how incompetent she is!

Believeitornot · 05/12/2017 08:44

Maybe if everyone got behind her instead of sniping we'd have a better chance of getting a good deal for the UK

Hahahahahahahahaha

We don’t live in North Korea and we don’t have a dear leader Hmm

We are well within our rights to criticise the government.

Theresa May isn’t getting a shit deal because of people complaining. She’s getting one because she isn trying to get the best deal for the uk.

If she really meant that, she would have a cross party approach to Brexit. Instead we have a Tory one.

makeourfuture · 05/12/2017 08:45

Look, before you leavers comment further, just take a look at May's expression at that press conference.

Something went very wrong there. That should not ever, ever happen during international negotiations.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/12/2017 08:47

I'd like Corbyn and Momentum running the country. It's what it needs.

It really really isn't.

@scrabbler3 it was about Brexit

LizzieSiddal · 05/12/2017 08:48

Make did you see her face the morning after the general election? It was exactly the same! Because she knows she’s fucked up!

It’s not the EUs fault TM and her govts didn’t think to check with NI MPs that they were ok with what was being negotiated for them.

It’s her and her govts arrogance and incompetence causing the issues!
