Surely now is the time for a vote of utter no confidence in Theresa May. AIBU to think she and those around her are utterly incompetent and making Britain a laughing stock around the globe?

The pollster question is of great concern, however. They are not doing as well as they should, or used to.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/12/2017 17:07

the people doing these Brexit-related reports, studies and assessments are knowledgeable and experienced experts

You mean like that fool Mark Carney - a self proclaimed "financial expert" if ever there was one - who warned us all of instant financial armageddon if the vote was to leave?

shhhfastasleep · 06/12/2017 17:13

Until we leave the full impact won't be felt. Me, I can't wait for my free trampoline and free unicorn. I also expect the sun to shine bright every day for a year.
What ... you mean that won't happen?

makeourfuture · 06/12/2017 17:21

The economy is cooling noticeably. Well ours. It is growing briskly in the Eurozone.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/12/2017 17:43

It appears even the Bank of England (all *financial experts" presumably) had quite a bit of grovelling to do ... oh, and no doubt the source will be popular - or would be, if it wasn't reporting something inconvenient:

millymollymandy46 · 06/12/2017 22:08

raisonsarenottheonlyfruit - well said. I like Keir Stamer too - he's had a proper job and sounds considered. I just wish he hadn't gone along with Brexit. I don't understand why the Remainers didn't take a stand in the House of Commons when it mattered.

When will the Tories listen?

millymollymandy46 · 09/12/2017 17:07

makeourfuture - my concern is who the Tories in power listen to! I agree wtih Ken Clarke in his overheard and filmed private interchange with Malcolm Rifkind when he referred to the lunatics in his own party who wanted out of the single currency. The Tories are listening to those lunatics. My impression is that Theresa May is so pleased to be Prime Minister she will do anything to remain there and to do so has to pander to the most unattractive members of her party and to hell with the mess their narrow minded views are getting us into. The whole mess seems to me so unnecessary (starting with David Cameron pandering to the Eurosceptics, again when he didn't need to) and the money this is costing (sorry - broken record) when all this money and energy could be spent on things that matter most - education and health etc etc.

OP posts:
Ta1kinPeace · 09/12/2017 17:24

Theresa May in an anti business Xenophobe
BJ and Gove are two faced lying scumbags without a moral fibre between them.
Philip Hammond has less imagination than Clippy.

Jeremy Corbyn has been anti EU all his adult life
Neither Corbyn or MacDonnell have ever had to turn any of their lala land ideas into reality.

Farridge wants to keep claiming his £70,000 a year EU pension and then wonders why there is a Brexit divorce bill

Arlene wants to be treated like part of the UK but keep abortion illegal in Ulster

The only one I respect at all is Vince Cable but he is getting zero media coverage
For some reason people are still crucifying the LibDems over student loans when there are MUCH bigger issues out there

Noextremes2017 · 09/12/2017 17:37

Largely agree with the previous poster. Cable is at least reasonably competent and honest which I agree can’t be said for the likes of Johnson, Gove, Corbyn and Farage.
Unfortunately the fact that so many mainstream politicians lie to us constantly is why idiots like Corbyn and Jacob Rees Mogg are touted as potential Prime Ministers. 10 years ago everybody would have laughed at the idea of either of them! And I promise you that if we ever get either of them we’ll be praying for the return of the Maybot......

ginghambox · 09/12/2017 17:45

If Vince Cable is the answer the world is well and truly fucked.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 09/12/2017 17:45

I don't understand why the Remainers didn't take a stand in the House of Commons when it mattered

What are you suggesting? Ignore the result of the referendum?

I voted remain and I didn't vote Conservative in the general election. May has a poisoned chalice but she is doing a better job than Corbyn would.

I resigned from the Labour Party a couple of weeks ago. I cannot vote Labour whilst it is led by Corbyn and being run by Momentum.

Noextremes2017 · 09/12/2017 18:10

Ginghambox - I think you might be right on that - with or without Vince Cable .......

shhhfastasleep · 09/12/2017 18:18

We can't ignore the stupid result of the stupid referendum. We are stuck with it.

Noextremes2017 · 09/12/2017 18:24

‘Lass’ - totally agree. I resigned from the Labour Party when Corbyn was RE-elected.

The saying that springs to mind is ‘Fool you once you are forgiven - fool you twice you’re just a fool’.

May is a strange human (ish) being. But she has a sense of duty and a certain stickability. Corbyn soent most of his life being ignored and that’s exactly where he should be now .......

millymollymandy46 · 09/12/2017 18:54

I don't think Brexit should be overturned just because I don't like it. That is obviously wrong and undemocratic. However - the British people, who are going to suffer for years and pay for this for years and lost jobs and opportunities for years - need our MPs to have the guts, if they think Brexit a disaster, to put the brakes on, have the debate we should have had before Cameron weakly gave in to the Eurosceptics (for his own political reasons) about what Brexit means, and have a second advisory Referendum.
MPs are the ones with the information to hand that can come to a good choice here. They have government figures, House of Commons library expertise to die for facts on tap and most of them were Remainers. Could just one of them start in motion a halt to this madness. When men of no integrity but vast ambition like Boris Johnson and Michael Gove are in positions of such power and influence I almost give up. Our childrens' lives will be so much poorer due to these people and any money that comes in for the forseeable future will not be spending more than before on the UK but on the Brexit bill itself, legal fees and the salaries and pensions of all the trade negotiators etc. What a mess the Tories (starting with Cameron) have made. I would hope Labour call an Election based on Tory incompetence internationally and as part of their Manifesto have a second advisory Referendum to check everyone is happy coming out of the single market. AIBU?

OP posts:
Ta1kinPeace · 09/12/2017 19:16

No more Referendums.
People do not vote on the question on the ballot paper.

The vote was advisory.
The legislation clearly states that.

If the Irish border stays open then we stay in the single market.
So we are in the EU in all aspects except decision making.
Hopefully once all of the current crop of politicians are out of the way a new generation will apply to re-join.

millymollymandy46 · 09/12/2017 19:39

Talking of the current crop of Tory politicians - how many of them have had serious jobs? Boris Johnson, our Foreign Secretary, was sacked for LYING as a journalist. Can we really wait for him to be out of the way? He and his ilk.
I am just hoping that some of the current crop, perhaps Keir Stamer, (who was so good at his job he was knighted) will be the man who stands up and says, asap, that this government and PM are simply not good enough and finds a way through the mess we are in.

OP posts:
shhhfastasleep · 09/12/2017 19:47

We can't rejoin - we a comparatively sweet deal: not in Eurozone; not in Schengen; fair bit of inward investment; playing as a big boy on a big group. The rebate.
Chances of that sort of deal? None.

makeourfuture · 09/12/2017 20:06

So we are in the EU in all aspects except decision making

There are many things wrong with that deal.

Tanith · 10/12/2017 12:03

"For some reason people are still crucifying the LibDems over student loans when there are MUCH bigger issues out there"

I don't think it's entirely the student loans that have scuppered the LibDems.

It's much more to do with their trustworthiness. They were seen to leap into bed with the Conservatives for a bit of power, only to find themselves supporting Austerity and crushing of the vulnerable.

They preferred attacking Labour to drawing attention to the Conservative excesses. The famous Note is a good example: a running joke by outgoing governments but a LibDem went rushing to the press with it - sort of understandable when they've had so little experience in Government, but unforgivable when you realise the consequences. Cameron was still getting mileage from it in 2015.

They will not be trusted for a very long time.

I will never vote lib dem again because of student loans.
Why ?
It was one policy where they had to go along with the Tories.

Who will you vote for instead ?
