The erosion of women

IHATEPeppaPig · 03/12/2017 22:14

I know, I know 'not another Trans thread' BUT, I am truly interested in people's opinions on this - I was always of the thought that I don't really care how anyone expresses themselves, carry on as you wish and I do still think this to varying degrees but I am concerned about the Trans agenda moving forwards and the erosion of women and reading through Twitter I found the following articles attached to this tweet:

I'm not personally interested in breastfeeding or giving birth. But the #terf assumption that these abilities are "biologically" reserved for AFAB is just one thing: wrong.

www.thestranger.com/queer-issue-2017/2017/06/21/25225867/my-first-time-breastfeeding-my-daughter

Now, I found the second article creepy - particularly where they mention that they 'got off' on breastfeeding and I'm not entirely sure how factual it actually is but it's scary that people are using this to prove how defunct 'ciswomen' (I HATE this term) are?

Cheers. I'm off to see Mr Sen at my local shop (he says I'm his best customer) so no hurry

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 05/12/2017 22:20

“What’s the thing with Reddit?

I don't know what the thing is with Reddit.

I have never heard of "spidey sense" outside of MN. Never heard any one say it or seen it written down anywhere else.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 22:25

lass

Its a spiderman thing

You know ''my spidey senses are tingling'

Its not a mumsnet thing per se

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 22:29

The so-called ‘spidey sense’ or ‘spider sense’ generally refers to an extraordinary ability to sense imminent danger, a kind of ‘sixth sense’ attributed to the comic-book superhero Spider-Man – though the term long ago escaped the confines of Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter-ego’s fictional universe to enter into popular usage and animate the popular imagination

Spider man, spider man, if he cant do it then noone can!!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 22:29

Spider looks wrong as a word now

Thank you.

Indeed they do. Bruce Jenner is the first woman to win, whatever he won at the Olympics

Wasn’t there also a big thing in the press this year about the first female frontline soldier, iirc it was actually a tw who had joined and had a military career as a male and was now going through transition.

I should save these links as I forget the exact details.

Angry - "first female infantry soldier" ermmm... Nope.

I'm constantly amazed at the brass necked denials that trans ideology erases women.

If a man is lauded as the first woman to do this or that what on earth is that if it isn't the erasure of women??

When gender non-compliant girls and women are told by a patriarchal medical industry that they are not women, what on earth is that if it is not the erasure of women??

When an ideology demands that the definition of woman must be changed from the biologically factual "adult human female" to the politically fanatical "whatever a man wants" what is that if it is not the erasure of women??

FFS

And when women ask these questions and want answers we are shouted down with insults such as "transphobe" and "bigot". We are harassed, threatened, no-platformed, told we are regressives akin to homophobes and the lesbophobic (despite our questions being about the erasure of lesbians and lesbianism). We are silenced and told that our biology is irrelevant to us, that we have no understanding of what we are, that our biological reproductive capacity is an unearned socio-political privilege over men when we are oppressed the world over by men due to that reproductive capacity.

Trans ideology not only erases women, it erases female oppression and insists that gender is an individual identity when it is actually a social order which harms, controls and exploits girls and women.

Trans ideology is anti-woman and erases women because it insists that women physically do not exist. Women exist only in men's thoughts and ideas. Only if you comply to men's ideas of womanhood, are you a woman.

Your body, your physicality, your breasts, your vagina, your womb count for shit. They are no longer relevant to your womanhood. They play a much more important role now and that is for them to be fetishized by porn sick men who place higher value on their love affair with themselves than they do on women's humanity.

In trans ideology women are no longer female adult humans - we are a fetish object, a costume to be worn, a box to be ticked on a form, a sexual orientation, a male fantasy.

And if that isn't the erasure of women, I don't know what is.

Sorry that had paragraphs in it that disappeared when I posted (new phone)

Datun · 06/12/2017 12:06

Excellent clarity there Beachcomber.

And if one more person turns round and tells me I’ve got to comply with my own erasure, in order to be kind...

Brava, Beachcomber Thanks

MrLovebucket · 06/12/2017 22:22

Bumping for anyone who still doesn't quite get the unease/worry about the way things are going.

@Beachcomber sums it up perfectly from a hetero, lesbian and bi female point of view.

I think a large majority of the trans community would agree too, except the trans activist who are the ones pushing this agenda.

anothernetter · 06/12/2017 22:34

I was born a woman. My genetic make-up means that I am a real woman. Do not refer to me as 'cis'. I find that offensive and will not be assigned a silly made up term just to appease a minority group.

Thank you. It was heartfelt.

SaturdayNightAtTheMovies · 07/12/2017 07:34

I might show your post to my son, Beach. I've done a very good job of bringing him up to be an inclusive and tolerant person.

Unfortunately, as a result, on this matter, he and I are on such completely different sides of the fence that we can't even understand the other's perspective. He think's I am utterly unreasonable and that that the fears we are discussing on here are "ridiculous" because there is no way "a Tory government is going to prioritise the needs of a minority group like this."

He just doesn't get the bigger picture.

He also has no idea/understanding of AGP and things that any mention of men doing this to diminish women rather than protecting trans people is tantamount to us wearing foil hats.
