The erosion of women

IHATEPeppaPig · 03/12/2017 22:14

I know, I know 'not another Trans thread' BUT, I am truly interested in people's opinions on this - I was always of the thought that I don't really care how anyone expresses themselves, carry on as you wish and I do still think this to varying degrees but I am concerned about the Trans agenda moving forwards and the erosion of women and reading through Twitter I found the following articles attached to this tweet:

I'm not personally interested in breastfeeding or giving birth. But the #terf assumption that these abilities are "biologically" reserved for AFAB is just one thing: wrong.

www.nytimes.com/2017/12/02/health/uterus-transplant-baby.html

www.thestranger.com/queer-issue-2017/2017/06/21/25225867/my-first-time-breastfeeding-my-daughter

Now, I found the second article creepy - particularly where they mention that they 'got off' on breastfeeding and I'm not entirely sure how factual it actually is but it's scary that people are using this to prove how defunct 'ciswomen' (I HATE this term) are?

An MRA is a men’s rights activist.
It’s set up as an anti feminist movement and they believe that the patriachy is the natural order of things, it’s strongly linked with white supremacy and they blame feminism for the reason no one wants to shag them. It would be funny but theres a cohort of them that are very radical and even call for violence, it preys on young men who don’t fit in and tells them that ita all feminists fault, that the world is actually stacked in favour of women and feminism wants to take over the world and they need to fight back. The Red Pill section of Reddit is a breeding ground for them.
They also live to wind up the left and ‘triggering’ them, they are often found on mumsnet, though they’re pretty easy to spot.

I don’t think it takes a genius to create a Tweetbot and it’s not an expensive way to cause quite a lot of havoc.

Like I say i can’t really comment on the Russia thing as it’s far too confusing but I wouldn’t rule it out, I mean when you look at the wiki leaks, Panama papers and the Edward Snowden things there’s definitely some element of control going on, but who’s controlling what for which reasons, I wouldn’t even be able to begin to guess.

Sentimental I can well believe that possibility about uterus transplants... there are villages in India & elsewhere where most of the women folk have only one kidney - because their husbands did a deal with an organ broker, in order to relieve debt/destitution.

Practically I can't see how uterus transplants would work though... surely the chasm between taking powerful anti-rejection drugs and harm to the fetus would be too unbridgeable?

Lweji · 05/12/2017 10:33

Exactly. That's why I see it more likely as a it being developed from own stem cells.

But I digress.

SmileEachDay · 05/12/2017 10:43

I’m wondering why a uterus implanted into a man would in any way benefit the child.

Or is it not really about the child...🤔

Elendon · 05/12/2017 10:46

Uterus transplants really only work with family members now though and even then it's for one or two uses only due to the constant use of anti rejection drugs - which have added complications too. The person who had the uterus transplanted will need constant medical care and those who do the donating have to have a radical hysterectomy to ensure proper blood supply - basically more is taken than would normally happen.

It's not as simple as it seems.

pisa - not sure how anyone classifies culture but isn't Iran quite keen on transing gay people so they aren't gay?!

Sparkling - I didn't realise release of trans prisoners was on the agenda.

Datun - thanks, I must admit I thought truscum was a term applied to TERFs who thought medical transition was essential.

I agree that there's a plan of some kind behind this, it reminds me of all the books I've read on creating PR and marketing campaigns. The only missing component is that I can't figure out who these people are but now I realise they stay invisible for a reason....which in turns makes me sound like a conspiracy theorist....argh.

a couple of people have said they worry about sounding anti-gay - I think anyone who thinks that really is off their nut so I wouldn't worry about that tbh.

Elendon · 05/12/2017 10:54

What I find incredibly conflicting regarding the ingestion of lifelong HRT is that men have constantly rejected hormones to stop the production of sperm, which is easy to do and is reversible. Even vasectomy is reversible nowadays. Male fertility seems to be key, yet they are happy to blame population explosions on women getting pregnant - somehow by osmosis. Furthermore, they are happy for males to take HRT on a daily basis. Men are not happy with the not being fertile if they are men, but are happy to reduce or cease fertility when it comes to transitioning to a gender conformed idea of a woman. It's all about desiring to control and desiring/forcing to be controlled.

OhThisbloodyComputer · 05/12/2017 11:13

@Elendon

That is a good point.

I must admit I didn't know there was a hormonal treatment to stop the production of sperm. I've never liked the idea of vasectomy.

I'm terrified of being infertile (even if there was nobody out there who wants me to shag them!) but, honestly, that's more of a primitive instinct than a deliberate attempt at controlling people.

That's what I don't get about these debates. Everything is always extrapolated into an example of 'controlling behaviour' when a lot of the time people just do stuff, and they don't even know why they are doing it.

I could be wrong though. Please someone explain. (Also, please spell out the acronyms)

Nyx1 · 05/12/2017 11:14

Elendon, I might have misunderstood but I don't find that conflicting at all?

Lancelottie · 05/12/2017 11:18

Oh come on, BloodyComputer, surely you can do your own thinking, and your own looking up of acronyms? Or are you in fact my teenage son ('Nope, definitely not in the cupboard, I can't seeeee it, can you help me?'

Nyx1 · 05/12/2017 11:22

Lancelottie - um, look carefully at BloodyComputer's posts - pointing it out again because as I said upthread, it has been useful to me to have timewasters pointed out.....

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 11:38

lance

I agree with nyx

The exact same question was asked on a previous thread...i refuse to believe that it hasnt been googled since then

Lancelottie · 05/12/2017 11:44

Ye-es, I'm getting the impression of someone who has no skin in this debate and in fact is treating it a hypothetical and rather amusing.

Now, I wonder why that could be...?

Sentimentallentil · 05/12/2017 11:51

Yeah I'm starting to agree, I don't actually mind answering questions because I think it can be overwhelming and I hate to think people were put off from accessing the information, or we didn't listen to other points of view, so I tend to give the benefit of the doubt, but it's pretty annoying when men come along to 'referee' the debate but don't actually engage in it seriously or do any of their own research.

OhThisbloodyComputer · 05/12/2017 12:07

@Sentimentallentil

How is it refereeing the debate?

I googled MRA for example and the top answer is Magnetic Resonance Angiogram
Next up is Motorcyle Racing Accessories

I'm genuinely interested.

I did have a problem with some posters on here, such as Rufus (don't remember Nyx) who ganged up on me and went running to teacher saying "Miss Miss, he's being Goady"

Which, I think, is disappointing given that I'd credited them with more intelligence and strength of character than that.

Would it kill people to spell out the acronym?

I have absolutely no desire to control or lead any conversation.

I'm interested in what Lentil's got to say. Sorry if I tried your patience.
Honestly though, have I said anything rude? Or even made any definite statements? I'm mostly asking questions.

Mens Rights Activism, page 1 of a search engine results:

Someone more intelligent than me will remember the name of the group recently deleted - it was something about men who were compulsorarily and unwillingly celibate because they couldn't get a woman sexual partner. Interesting group, the idea of compulsory sex was discussed as I remember, with much indignation about women's rights to withhold it. Because women traditionally don't own their own bodies. It was not ok to withhold sex from your husband or to get police help for him forcibly taking it from you until 1991.

This is why the fury about 'stop saying birth/breast feeding etc can only be done by people AFAB'. How dare you have something that can't be taken from you by a man, the nerve of it!

That honestly is what a whole lot of the nutty stuff in all this is about at core.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 12:20

Ganged up

Grin

For goodness sake

As it happens i do remember you

And i do find you funny...in a definite the way you intended way, you have a way with words

But i also think that you are not as daft as you make out (i have been accused of the same in real life)

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 12:20

Who is teacher?

Do you nean someone reported you?

Nyx1 · 05/12/2017 12:23

Sparkly "This is why the fury about 'stop saying birth/breast feeding etc can only be done by people AFAB'. How dare you have something that can't be taken from you by a man, the nerve of it!"

exactly. In reality I don't think many men will go for this but they will want to conduct an exercise in showing that they can.

CakesRUs · 05/12/2017 12:26

I'm not a cis woman. I'm just a woman and I'm offended to be referred to as one. I'm fine with trans women, no problem with the subject. But I am not a cis woman.

OhThisbloodyComputer · 05/12/2017 12:27

@Rufustherenegadereindeer1

Thank you Rufus. That's a relief. I wanted you to like me.

That's why I couldn't understand when I got an electronic tap on the shoulder from the Moderator who said a number of people said I was goady. (I won't be indiscrete and reveal a private conversation. But they let me back on, so draw your own conclusion)

This is a subject I know nothing about, which is why I keep asking questions. So I'd better sit this one out from now on. I'm not mad about being ganged up on.

But I'm ecstatic that you tolerate me, and that you think I'm not as stupid as I come across. That'll do for me!

Bye for now

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 12:39

Good...I'm glad your happy

Sorry to derail but this is one of my favourite quotes

One of the major difficulties Trillian experienced in her relationship with Zaphod was learning to distinguish between him pretending to be stupid just to get people off their guard, pretending to be stupid because he couldn’t be bothered to think and wanted someone else to do it for him, pretending to be outrageously stupid to hide the fact that he actually didn’t understand what was going on, and really being genuinely stupid

Lots of posters do this a lot...i think

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 12:39

You're !!!

Bloody hell

SmileEachDay · 05/12/2017 12:55

Which, I think, is disappointing given that I'd credited them with more intelligence and strength of character than that.

Hmm. You see, ohthis that’s the kind of comment that sets my spidey senses off. It’s passive aggressive and patriarchal (in the original sense of the word) It writes off people (women?) disagreeing with you as being stupid and weak.

Tone is super hard to interpret on here, but that’s how that felt to me...

Sentimentallentil · 05/12/2017 13:02

computer

We get lots of trolls on here so I think we are all on a bit of high alert and our patience has been tested before.

I’m a bit of a wind bag and am easily flattered so I don’t really mind answering questions.

I don’t think you were trying to referee the conversation but that is a particular thing that happens, men come and go ‘right ladies, now I know you’re all a bit upset but Don’t you think you’re all as bad as each other? I’ve come with my man logic to sort it all out for you, don’t worry. Now tell me what exactly is going on’

Because we get them so often I think we can end up having a short tolerance and not so willing to give the benefit of the doubt.
