To Be Delighted for Harry and Meghan?

I know there are lots who have no time for the Royals but as a mother I'm delighted that Harry has found his match. I'm also quite thrilled that he's gone against the grain for his atypical princess! Think Diana would have been proud to see him follow his heart.

OP posts:

I don’t buy it.

It’s just further UK taxpayer funded celebritisation of the Royal Family. The public love a wedding, even a fake one.

MrsJayy · 27/11/2017 11:43

I thought she was Canadian clearly not . The news are just saying stuff now they didn't need to do an engagement special imo

SophieGiroux · 27/11/2017 11:45

If we get a day off for the wedding that sounds good to me. Had a nice time having a picnic in front of a big screen in the park with my NCT group last time.

Whoop-di-fucking-doo

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 27/11/2017 11:48

it's some good news for a change

I can understand that OP. If you want positive news here's a good website for you and it covers things that are a lot more important than another royal engagement/marriage:

An American divorcee, how very un-Royal

After all we've done for Britain....

EthelOnTheTown · 27/11/2017 11:49

'think it's because it's some good news for a change'
It is nice to hear good news just not this. It sticks in my craw, all the people struggling with ill health, poverty, real problems will have this rammed down their necks for the next 6 months. If they'd naffed off to a Caribbean island and done it privately it would be nicer news imo.

BertrandRussell · 27/11/2017 11:49

"I'd rather see this story dominate the news than the awful things that have happened in 2017"

Yes- a Royal wedding can hide a multitude of bad news.

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 27/11/2017 11:52

Ignore the miserable Royal haters.
I think it's wonderful, i love the Royal family and people who moan about wasting our taxes need to change the record.

BulletFox · 27/11/2017 11:54

I wouldn't say delighted but it's nice, they're in love and seem happy, they want to build a life together.

I would expect they'll do a lot of high profile charity work and they have a common bond in that respect.

SilverBirchTree · 27/11/2017 11:54

Yeah, I hope he's happy. I don't envy his life at all, he deserves some normalcy and joy

Elphame · 27/11/2017 11:56

I give it 6 months. She'll resent the lack of privacy and freedom she's been used to.

I'd have more respect for the pair of them if they upped and left permanently for the US but I guess living off the UK taxpayers is far more appealing.

OliviaStabler · 27/11/2017 11:57

Wow. What a shock.

WaitingforGalGadot · 27/11/2017 11:58

They actually have the same face, strangely enough.

araiwa · 27/11/2017 11:58

Im happy for them and wish them well

nocampinghere · 27/11/2017 11:59

I'm really happy for him. I think she's a good match and will cope with the media and enjoy the role as his wife.

you're a miserable bunch!

SouthWestmom · 27/11/2017 12:01

Nice to see Harry doing his bit for post Brexit negotiations.

Creambun2 · 27/11/2017 12:02

People who say they love the royal family are needy idiots.

EthelOnTheTown · 27/11/2017 12:03

'I'm really happy for him. I think she's a good match'
Yes. I'm happy for anyone planning on getting married. Its the potential piss taking massive expenditure that I'm no too happy about. I don't know though, maybe he'll surprise us and go for a low key register office bash.

Elendon · 27/11/2017 12:03

Didn't Edward marry Mrs Simpson?

EdmundCleverClogs · 27/11/2017 12:08

i love the Royal family and people who moan about wasting our taxes need to change the record.

Sorry to be such a bore about taxes. I mean it’s not like ordinary working people are struggling to feed their families, the NHS is severely underfunded, the poor, mentally ill and disabled are left to suffer without sufficient benefits and social care, children are living in poverty and many are homeless. Us miserable buggers who should delight in paying for a rich person’s wedding that we’re not even invited to or paying for their future children if there are any. Our priorities are obviously wrong for a bit of ‘happy news’.

Yogagirl123 · 27/11/2017 12:10

Good luck to them.

BertrandRussell · 27/11/2017 12:12

One good thing-she's a Ms.

nocampinghere · 27/11/2017 12:12

The income generated by the wedding will far outweigh the cost to the taxpayer.
There's been study and report after report about how cost effective the royal family is in terms of the income they bring in.

I wouldn't swap with them that's for sure.

Viviennemary · 27/11/2017 12:13

Didn't Edward marry Mrs Simpson?

Indeed he did. Then they changed the 'rules. Except they said the rules weren't binding then anyway and it was all parliaments fault. Hmm
