To Be Delighted for Harry and Meghan?

I know there are lots who have no time for the Royals but as a mother I'm delighted that Harry has found his match. I'm also quite thrilled that he's gone against the grain for his atypical princess! Think Diana would have been proud to see him follow his heart.

OP posts:

How fabulous for you. You really are so much better than the plebs who sat at home watching it

We're plebs all right, formerbabe, but republican plebs who believe that a monarchy has no place in the modern world and no truck with all its trappings.

As soon as the date is announced, we'll be booking somewhere to go for this one as well.

RustyBear · 27/11/2017 16:06

I just like the headline on our local paper’s website ...

Former Wokingham schoolboy gets engaged

Grin
EdmundCleverClogs · 27/11/2017 16:19

RustyBear, ah, that’s as good as when the Daily Post announced William’s last bit of news -‘Former Anglesey Helicopter Pilot Expecting Third Child’ I think it was Grin

loobyloo1234 · 27/11/2017 16:24

I'm pleased for them too OP, they look very happy together Smile

Skarossinkplunger · 27/11/2017 16:29

What the unholy fuck does you being a mother have to do with how pleased you are for him?

formerbabe · 27/11/2017 16:49

LakieLady

Really? You definitely don't sound like plebs if you take off on a mini break just because a news item displeases you.

Ivehadtonamechangeforthis · 27/11/2017 16:49

I'm intrigued to watch how this is going to be played out.

The press took the Middletons apart, initially, because Kate has 'working class' heritage and I think someone in her family may have even been a minor (unthinkably working class!!) And there were lots of grunts about Kate not being aristocracy or from the same background as Diana i.e. not a Lady in her own right. They could have a field day with Meghan.

isthismummy · 27/11/2017 17:04

I'm simply delighted that we are going to have to foot the bill for another wedding for the parasites we call the royal family.

Its a great way of distracting people from the appalling state of this country though. I'm just praying for a republic the second the parasite in charge shuffles off this mortal coil.

TheEricaOlthwaiteGang · 27/11/2017 17:15

Well as an Aquarian with Scorpio rising I couldn't be more delighted.

Threenme · 27/11/2017 17:21

Ivehadtonamechangeforthis I don't think the press will have chance to do what they did to Kate. I think Harry is less bothered about being seen above it all, he's called them out on it before so I image he'll do it again! I'm happy for the too OP!

Rudgie47 · 27/11/2017 17:42

Anyone elce think both him and William are really ugly/gross?

formerbabe · 27/11/2017 17:44

Anyone elce think both him and William are really ugly/gross?

No. No one ELSE thinks that.

LaurieMarlow · 27/11/2017 17:46

Harsh Rudgie but agree William in particular failed to live up to his early promise in the looks department.

Harry's not my type, but he's not unattractive.

SleepingStandingUp · 27/11/2017 18:05

Can't say I know them well enough to judge on their grossness. William is average looking, he was such a heartthrob when we were teens but no so much now. Harry has got better looking. Both women are beautiful. But its personality that makes a marriage work and clearly both ladies are attracted to their partners. They don't need anyone else to fancy them

Elendon · 27/11/2017 18:06

I'm absolutely delighted to know, via the BBC, that the permission of her parents had been sought.

Isn't it wonderful that a 33 year old male would do this for his 36 year old bride.

God bless 'em.

Battleax · 27/11/2017 18:11

As a mother, I'm pretty disgusted by the inequality in this country and the conspicuous wealth the RF represents.

We can all do "as a mother" sanctimony, OP.

LiminalTides · 27/11/2017 18:17

as a mother

This is Andrea Leadsom's moment.

Elendon · 27/11/2017 18:34

For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to make it clear that I'm being sarcastic.

BertrandRussell · 27/11/2017 18:52

"The press took the Middletons apart, initially, because Kate has 'working class' heritage"

She was't working class- she was that unforgivable thing, lower middle class.Grin

RichmondAvenue · 27/11/2017 18:54

Couldn't give a flying fuck....

singingpinkmonkey · 27/11/2017 18:56

YANBU - I think it's really lovely news.

BuzzKillington · 27/11/2017 18:56

I wonder if Kate is pissed off that Meghan's got a lovely ring and she has to wear that gopping great sapphire? Grin

BishBoshBashBop · 27/11/2017 18:58

but as a mother

Andrea Leadsom is that you?

YellowMakesMeSmile · 27/11/2017 19:06

Good for them, they seem happy and it's not an arranged set up so hopefully they will have a good future together. Since Will got married, he's always looked a touch lonely so glad he's met the person that he wants to settle down with.

I love a Royal wedding, yes it costs but the Royals are a thriving tourist interest and he works and does charity stuff too so a better use of money than what we currently waste money on.

Freezingwinter · 27/11/2017 19:07

Aw it's lovely! I fail to see how anyone can be happy for them but that's just me!
