To Be Delighted for Harry and Meghan?

I know there are lots who have no time for the Royals but as a mother I'm delighted that Harry has found his match. I'm also quite thrilled that he's gone against the grain for his atypical princess! Think Diana would have been proud to see him follow his heart.

I'm happy about it too - regardless of who they are it's always nice seeing people happy.

Yes, there'll be a media circus which will irritate even the most loyal fans, but I'd rather see this story dominate the news than the awful things that have happened in 2017. Bring on a little joy!

Sparklingbrook · 27/11/2017 11:10

YABU to start another thread but YANBU to be happy for people getting engaged I suppose.

MrsJayy · 27/11/2017 11:10

What is a typical princess ?

MidnightAura · 27/11/2017 11:11

Whoops meant "atypical princess"

HolyCreamola · 27/11/2017 11:11

I'd rather see this story dominate the news than the awful things that have happened in 2017.

And that's my very worry.

skippy67 · 27/11/2017 11:11

I feel sorry for her. She's going get so much stick for her race, her nationality, everything. I hope it works out though.

Creambun2 · 27/11/2017 11:11

A typical princess is someone who lives a life of luxury at someelses expense.

Xeneth88 · 27/11/2017 11:13

As a mother, I couldn't give a toss about 2 strangers weddings. Just like in "real" life.

HolyCreamola · 27/11/2017 11:15

You wouldn't catch me swapping a cushy life in the Californian sunshine to marry into the dreariest family in the UK and micro analysis of every move I made.

Sparklingbrook · 27/11/2017 11:16

Sky News are all over it like a rash. The speculation is astounding. Hmm

MrsJayy · 27/11/2017 11:16

Yes she is going to be a princess because she is marrying a prince that is kind of obvious she gave up her job to move country and get married?

TurnipCake · 27/11/2017 11:17

As a nulliparous woman, I don't care enough about 2 strangers and their personal lives

Rebeccaslicker · 27/11/2017 11:18

Will we get extra bank holidays, like we did for William? If so then sure I'm delighted.

Although I bet they selfishly have it when I'm on mat leave anyway...

PyongyangKipperbang · 27/11/2017 11:18

as a mother I'm delighted that Harry has found his match.
Eh? Why?

Are you his mother and the conspiracy theorists were correct, that you have been living with Elvis and Shergar all these years?!

DistractedByIrrelevance · 27/11/2017 11:18

As a mother...
Diana would be proud...

I wish there was a vomit emoji

This.

I had something witty to write but my own child has just been sick on me. Rather apt I thought.

ElephantsandTigers · 27/11/2017 11:18

I'm thrilled too. Partly as my late Nana loved the royal family and she would have been thrilled to bits. I enjoy them for her. One of my few happy childhood memories was being at her house when Andrew and Sarah got married and we sat and watched it all day.

Viviennemary · 27/11/2017 11:20

Far too rushed. It isn't good news because they are totally unsuited. It won't end well. Maybe if they move to America and do talk shows it might work for a while. Otherwise it won't.

FlakeBook · 27/11/2017 11:21

Diana would be proud...

Thing is, presumably you did know her? Or have any clue other than what's in the media? Neither do I.

YANBU to be pleased for them but YABU to presume you know someone who is a stranger and speculate about their family.

Rudgie47 · 27/11/2017 11:27

Dont care, hes always been a prick.

EthelOnTheTown · 27/11/2017 11:32

'Yeah I'm delighted that we will be funding royal wedding. Bread and circuses. I'm sure those using good banks will enjoy it.'
Indeed. Urgh, bunch of scroungers the lot of them and here's another to join them. I'd have been quite impressed if she'd have kept her job and he'd have moved to where she lives, but I'm sure the royal privilege isn't to be missed.

LakieLady · 27/11/2017 11:35

An American divorcee, how very un-Royal

There's precedent for it, but it involved an abdication.

Personally, I can't seem to find a fuck to give, even after rummaging through the messy drawer.

JustHavinABreak · 27/11/2017 11:38

Now you've all got me thinking. Why on earth am I so delighted for them? I think it's because it's some good news for a change. There are horrendous things going on in the world and two people who fall in love and get married, whether famous or not, bring a little bit of sunshine. I live with chronic pain and fairly severe depression but for 5 minutes this morning I had a little "awww...that's nice" moment.

I'm happy for him. He's a nice guy and has tried to make the best of his role. He's looked a bit lonely the last couple of years so good luck to him. He'll be a brilliant dad. She's a bit self publicising but seems very classy. TBH Megan and Kate make the 'born' royals Beatrice and Eugenia look like a real waste of space.

butterfly56 · 27/11/2017 11:40

I've watched Suits since the first and always loved Meghan's character Rachael Zane.
I am so glad that he has finally found someone who he can be happy with.
They both deserve to be happy!
Our American friends are going to go crazy in a good way about this marriage!
Only hope they aren't forced to invite Trump to the wedding!

LakieLady · 27/11/2017 11:41

I feel sorry for her. She's going get so much stick for her race, her nationality, everything.

Yes, mostly from her husband's grandfather. Grin
