Taking inspiration from the other threat running.

My DH is very hard to buy for.

His hobby is mountain biking but he has some health issues At the moment which stop him from doing that.

He has recently gone on a much needed shopping spree and so has pretty much a new wardrobe.

He has just bought a new tv wit some inheritance.

He has an iPad and fancy headphones.

He doesn’t really do books.

He has a leather hold-all and wash bag I bought a few xmases ago.

I do not know what to buy!!!!!!!!

What are you buying for your other halves? Inspiration needed!!

I agree...adults buying other adults Christmas presents is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous when the vast majority of couples will have joint finances/bank accounts

No what is ridiculous is people thinking everyone should do Christmas the same as them thats what. I feel sorry that people can be so close minded like this. Its such a lovely feeling that you have someone in your life that looks out for you and you do the same for them, and whilst presents the be all and end all of Christmas its nice knowing that someone cares so much and puts thoughts into gifts for you, and vice versa you for them.

Anyway Ive bought my DH loads of stuff he will love and he no doubt will do the same for me, we love choosing stuff. So far:

Ghostbusters T shirt
Mr Men Indiana Jones Mr Adventure T shirt
Lost Boys Santa Carla t shirt
Back to the Future lego keyring from US
The Goonies and Mission Impossible lego dimensions for X box (buy 1 get 1 free just now in Sainsburys!)
Voucher for new trainers as hes running the London Marathon next year

LagunaBubbles · 05/12/2017 12:23

arent the be all and end all

Youngmystery · 05/12/2017 12:29

We are doing the want, need, wear and read thing.

Want - tickets to comic con
Need - chaps for horse riding
Wear - a couple of funny tshirts
Read - a copy of journey to the centre of the earth, he's been wanting to read it again since a teenager and never got a copy

choseAUsername · 05/12/2017 12:43

What's stopping him mountainbiking? DH and I are both keen cyclists. DH had to have a year off the mountain bike and began road riding. It tends to be much easier and more accessible.

An entry level road bike can be surprisingly cheap if you look second hand. A turbo trainer could help him keep ready for getting back on the bike.

I'm buying DH a massive Technics Lego set which he'll love. A fancy knife (pen knife type), hiking boots, mtb handlebars and some sunglasses.

Natsku · 05/12/2017 12:48

I asked him what he wanted, he said socks and underwear so that's what I'm getting him. Makes things a lot easier for me!

maddiemookins16mum · 05/12/2017 12:50

A GoT garden Gnome (it's the annual comedy present).
GoT season 7 on DVD
Some Marvel superhero type leisure trousers (to lounge around in on the sofa after work playing X Box)
A decent bottle of whisky from the cat
A GoT beany from DD
AND the main present is a drone with camera/gps.
Probably some little stocking fillers like a new glasses case, comedy socks, a bar of malteser reindeer chocolate and something to do with geocaching.

maddiemookins16mum · 05/12/2017 12:51

Oooh, I do like the want, wear, need, read idea. Will use that in future.

IHeartKingThistle · 05/12/2017 12:53

A melodica, a mic for the ipad, Japanese sweets, a knock off Lego Princess Leia in the gold bikini and tickets to Spamalot.

SootSprite · 05/12/2017 13:07

Is bacon of the month any good? Dd and dh both adore bacon and we have set a £20 each limit so I could get them a joint six month subscription. Has anyone used it before?

RoboticSealpup · 05/12/2017 13:11

Google home.

I’m making a date book as this year we concentrated on the children and not so much on us, so last year we went out once, however we did have our annual holiday but again that was with the children.

So far Our dates are going to be a long weekend away to Istanbul, and a weekend away to Amsterdam (got this really cheap going by ferry)

Have got him 3 experience days, one is a super car drive experience, Jamie Oliver’s experience, and a spa night in a hotel.

I’ve booked his favourite band and I’ve got tickets to his football derby game.

Have some more ideas but so far that’s it.

Eve · 05/12/2017 13:16

getting my construction engineering student DS one of these as a stocking filler

6 in 1 Multifunction Tool Kit Pen with ruler, Spirit Level, Ballpoint Pen, Stylus, Flat-head and Flat Phillips Screwdriver, Multifunction Tool

midnightmisssuki · 05/12/2017 14:31

leather briefcase
2 wool jumpers
pyramid rubiks cube
3 pairs of jeans
sonic beer stirrer

handslikecowstits · 05/12/2017 14:41

I had all these rather safe ideas for presents but realised that MIL will probably buy most of them so I bought him an electric sausage making machine.

Somtamthai · 05/12/2017 15:00

Do sorry to hear about your husband. You mentioned an iPod so what about an iTunes so he can download some new stuff?

I got my fiancé:
Nice underwear set
New dress
iPad
Books
Plus some sticking bits.

She got me:
iPhone 7
Fitbit
Books
And some surprises

Triskaidekaphilia · 05/12/2017 15:11

I got mine:
A board game he saw and wanted 7 months ago and has probably forgotten about
A necklace type thing related to his favourite game
A gift set of his favourite alcohol

I usually get him bigger/more presents but we are on a tight budget this year so agreed to only spend £30 on each other.

SummerRoberts · 05/12/2017 15:16

We couldn't think of anything for each other this year- birthdays both close to Christmas so it all happens at once.
We decided we're going to book a holiday for next year and that'll be our present to each other.
We're doing stockings for each other so I've got bits like face wash, socks, beard oil, a Rubik's cube, chocolates and pants for in there.

whiteonesugar · 05/12/2017 15:19

Tickets to a show in January, some cufflinks and a bedside pocket thing which looks right up his street.

SandAndSea · 05/12/2017 16:10

My main present to DP this year is a voucher for Indoor Skydiving for 2. We'll make a day of it. Can't wait!

Cctv923 · 05/12/2017 16:51

Are some of you absolutely loaded? These lists must cost in excess of £1000. Seems a hell of a lot of money to spend on one day!

SandAndSea · 05/12/2017 17:56

We're definitely not loaded. Indoor Skydiving was about £60 with photo and insurance (you can pay less without those extras). We haven't had a holiday for years but do enjoy the odd day trip (with help from Tesco / gift vouchers).

wrenika · 05/12/2017 18:57

I'm getting my DP £50 worth of books of his choosing, and he's getting me £50 worth of books of my choosing. We don't bother with surprises...it makes life simple.

Lloyd45 · 05/12/2017 19:08

LondonGirl83 · 05/12/2017 22:17
