Taking inspiration from the other threat running.

My DH is very hard to buy for.

His hobby is mountain biking but he has some health issues At the moment which stop him from doing that.

He has recently gone on a much needed shopping spree and so has pretty much a new wardrobe.

He has just bought a new tv wit some inheritance.

He has an iPad and fancy headphones.

He doesn’t really do books.

He has a leather hold-all and wash bag I bought a few xmases ago.

I do not know what to buy!!!!!!!!

What are you buying for your other halves? Inspiration needed!!

AndNone I’m sorry you’re going through such a tough time. Flowers.** Would he enjoy a chess set? Or a massage voucher? I can’t think of anything useful to suggest, I’m afraid.

I’m getting my DH a cd, dvd, chocs and a photography course voucher.

Andnone, so sorry Sad
When my mum had chemo her skin got so very dry. We bought her luxury moisturiser.

Ragnarhairybretches · 24/11/2017 17:41

clearsommespace · 24/11/2017 17:41

clearsommespace · 24/11/2017 17:42

Steal!

Bumbumtaloo · 24/11/2017 17:44

AndNone Flowers so sorry to hear that.

My DH had a big birthday earlier in the year and we were pretty skint at the time so I have bought him a new guitar as a joint present. I have also got bits and bobs to go with it, strap, strings etc. I also got him a carnivorous garden - it’s like the children’s fairy garden but with Venus fly traps ect

TheMadGardener · 24/11/2017 17:44

My husband has hobbies which make him easier to buy for. (Climbing and model railways). He has asked for a new twin track controller for the model railway and a copy of Chris Bonington''s new book (have managed to get him a signed copy).

Tickets for a show/comedy/event
Gin/Rum
Nice beer glasses
Does he travel - a bag for leads/wash bag
PJs
Book
Magazine subscription (a mountain bike one or outdoor sports?)

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 24/11/2017 17:46

Thanks everyone. A weekend away would be lovely but I can't book anything at the moment because of his treatment. It would be good to have something to look forward to though if he's up to travelling.

I like the idea of the chess set and moisturiser, I think he would appreciate both.

TeeBee · 24/11/2017 17:48

Have you seen those biking helmet that have indicators on them? Not cheap but great in the dark.

Strokethefurrywall · 24/11/2017 17:48

I got DH:

  • a Harry Potter t-shirt
  • a Harry Potter mug
  • a bottle opener cap launcher
  • a "Become a Laird" gift set (he's Scottish)
  • a personalised whiskey barrel

I think I've outdone myself this year!!

SingingSeuss · 24/11/2017 17:51

Electric toothbrush and slippers ( who said romance was dead??) and money towards a new phone ( can't afford the whole cost!)

Maddiemademe · 24/11/2017 17:52

Just worked mine out today:
Retro record player
Comedy show tickets
Fitbit
Mini break to a nice hotel with spa
Coffee maker

Drogonssmile · 24/11/2017 17:52

I've got mine a dash cam because he does a lot of driving for work, slippers and a google chrome cast

Hushabyelullaby · 24/11/2017 17:56

neither of us wanted anything in particular so we have gone halves and booked to see Foo Fighters next year.

howdoyoudecide · 24/11/2017 17:57

He hasn’t got a watch but we don’t have much money this year so budget is small and I would rather save up and get him something special in a few years for his 40th

So far, some Clark’s boots, ted baker slippers and an amazon echo speaker.
I usually get him clothes but he has got so many now, it’s getting ridiculous.

howdoyoudecide · 24/11/2017 18:00

I might do the hamper idea. Some nice cheeses, crackers, some nice cider and other things that people put in hampers? He likes candles. Are joe Malone worth it? We usually use Yankee

GwenStaceyRocks · 24/11/2017 18:03

AndNone so sorry to hear about your DH Flowers My DF had lung cancer. He still liked to watch tv occasionally so what about DVDs of some favourite films? Or a photo album?

expatinscotland · 24/11/2017 18:09

I got DH a pizza oven and Call of Duty WWII for PS4.

BriennetheBeauty · 24/11/2017 18:15

Helicopter Lesson
Shirt
Slippers
Reusable notebook and pens
Blu-ray Discs to complete the MCU so far

Mountainpika · 24/11/2017 18:17

Nothing.
And he will buy me nothing.

We've not done presents for some years. Nor birthday presents.

In our 70s, not a huge amount of money but enough to live on. Holidays rare but we're content. We've both got hobbies, so we get what we want/need during the year.

So no worrying about presents for each other.

ILikeThatSong123 · 24/11/2017 18:28

Andnone i am sorry and wish him and you and family well...

Flowers

Does he like listening to the radio? You mentioned iPod and I genuinely don't know what does an iPod do, I thought listening to a miniature radio especially at night time, perhaps mainly talk programmes, might be a good idea. Definitely entertaining. If bored of one station, switch to another... with earphones of course.

Comedy audio tapes to listen to?

Nice toiletries always a good idea????
