I love them - the undisputed king of burgers surely?

OP posts:
LurkingHusband · 29/11/2017 13:35

If they faff about at the kiosk, it doesn't really matter, as long as they're not messing about with the customisation feature as that fucks with the kitchen (every time you customise an item, a machine in the kitchen prints a ticket so you can stick it on the wrapper. Messing about produces a plethora of tickets, and will get you kicked out if you continue doing it after being told).

Did no one suggest to the software designers that a good time to print the ticket (in my opinion, the only time to print the ticket) might be after payment has been taken ? Strikes me as a better solution which (a) doesn't attract idiots (b) saves paper (c) reduces the risk of having to confront customers.

I guess us old farts just don't get it Hmm

QuestionableMouse · 29/11/2017 13:38

The ticket goes through before so kitchen cam start making the food. Everything is timed and it's never just one burger or portion of nuggets that are on the screen.

rabbitsdontlayeggs · 29/11/2017 13:46

Ooh I love a filet o fish! I haven't had one in years.

I also love a McRib and a Big Tasty too! I hope they come back one day.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 29/11/2017 14:00

LurkingHusband We're fast food. QuestionableMouse is right; everything is timed and recorded. We have targets to meet, and we are picked up by our area manager when those targets aren't satisfactory.

But messing around with the tickets has only really happened with teenagers, when they were doing it on purpose. It would be hard for a genuine customer to do it by accident.

Big Tasty too! I hope they come back one day.

Big Tasty's always come back! At the moment we have the Beef and Cheese feast, which is really quite similar to the Big Tasty if you want to try that Smile

Not really sure how that excuses crap software ? Unless you are saying that the order process starts before payment is confirmed ?

MyWhatICallNameChange · 29/11/2017 14:13

I tried a filet o'fish many years ago and it was so disappointingly disgusting I haven't had one since. Not sure what it was. Probably the cheese. Cheese has no place in that sort of thing, and o never used to like McDonald's cheese .

I feel the need to try one now. Still no cheese though. Don't mind it in burgers, but not with fish.

QuestionableMouse · 29/11/2017 14:27

Lurking, the software does exactly what it needs to do. My store has had the order points in for almost a year and I can only recall one time where people were deliberately messing around with the order points.

The youth of today ... no imagination Smile

rabbitsdontlayeggs · 29/11/2017 14:37

@WhatToDoAboutThis2017 - it's the Big Tasty sauce that is so delicious! They need to do that by the pot.

Sorry - derailing with my love of the Big Tasty!

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 29/11/2017 14:46

It's not crap software - it works exactly how we want it and need it to. And yes, the order process does start before payment is confirmed.

Like QuestionableMouse I can only recall one time it happened and it was teenagers. Like I said, a genuine customer shouldn't have that problem.

MyWhatICallNameChange You can ask for it with no cheese Smile

rabbitsdontlayeggs Ahh, fair do's!

Fellow filet fans, I’m so happy I’ve found you! My friends and DH just stare at me when I order one, they don’t seem to understand that they are missing out. Large meal and strawberry milkshake every single time. I’m excited to order it with a full slice of cheese and extra tartare sauce next time though, thanks for the tips.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 29/11/2017 14:56

Glad you know you can now! Just so you know, it will cost an extra 40p (20p for extra cheese, 20p for extra tartar sauce) Smile

Sapiosexual · 29/11/2017 15:15

My dad loved them but hated cheese so would ask for a 'filet o fish, no cheese.' One day he went in slightly drunk and ordered a 'filet o fish, no fish.

He got a cheese sandwich Grin

SenecaFalls · 29/11/2017 16:07

I'm curious to know what kind of cheese they use on the sandwiches in the UK. Because in the US they use "American cheese" which is vile stuff to my taste. I am American, but also a bit of a cheese snob, so I always order my Filet O fish without cheese.

LurkingHusband · 29/11/2017 16:11

So a customer starts a special order, but walks out before paying has cost the restaurant ?

QuestionableMouse · 29/11/2017 16:26

Lurking, let it go. We've explained why the system does what it does. I've never had someone start a burger then leave. Never.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 29/11/2017 16:40

It's very obvious when people are dicking around, so you don't even begin to make those orders.

And I've never known a grill order to get wasted because when people are specific about their food, they don't tend to decide halfway through ordering that they don't want it anymore.

In fact, that goes for pretty much everyone. No one walks in, gets halfway through ordering then decides they don't want it Confused

There isn't an issue here, so stop trying to create one.

NamasteNiki · 29/11/2017 20:29

Ive started my burger, changed my mind and ordered another burger.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 29/11/2017 20:57

Ive started my burger, changed my mind and ordered another burger.

That's fine, that doesn't produce an issue for the kitchen. As has been said repeatedly, a genuine customer will not create a problem for the kitchen.

NamasteNiki · 29/11/2017 22:16

Ah that's ok then. I was beginning to think Id created a poor unwanted burger with no owner. Im sentimental like that.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 29/11/2017 22:30

Nope Grin

ellenanora5 · 29/11/2017 22:57

I love them, they are gorgeous and tasty and yummy and squidgy Grin I've always asked for extra cheese and tartare sauce, you need it for the chips, fecking starving now.

OliviaStabler · 30/11/2017 07:59

I also tried the new delivery service from McDonalds. Very addictive Grin

RainbowPastel · 30/11/2017 08:00

Thanks.

NamasteNiki · 05/12/2017 18:27

I've never tried one but it looks as though it is going to happen. Shock

Any tips? Extra cheese, etc?
