I love them - the undisputed king of burgers surely?

MrsSiba · 24/11/2017 06:43

Love them

They seem to have got smaller

speakout · 24/11/2017 06:47

Yes article is bullshit.
I have always had to wait longer if I order fish as it has to be cooked.
The fish is better than a lot of the stuff at McDonald's but a bit watery and bland.

MonaChopsis · 24/11/2017 06:51

Yum yum yum they are delicious, and I always order them too.

Bunchofdaffodils · 24/11/2017 06:54

I love them too, since I was a child. Followed with an apple pie. Do they still do the mince pie and custard ones at Christmas?

Eminybob · 24/11/2017 06:56

Never had one, but I do think I’d like them as I love a fish finger butty.
But, saying that, I don’t think I could go to mcd’s and not order a quarter pounder with cheese, it would be such a missed opportunity. (As I go quite infrequently)

Me and DH do the “and a filet of fish for my wife” thing though.

OliviaStabler · 24/11/2017 06:59

I love them! Grin

I also call them 'fillay o fish'.

Ifailed · 24/11/2017 07:03

like all mcd's stuff they are a disappointment, things never look like any illustrations in store. I find them a bit watery, the bread bun too sweet (probably because they contain sugar) and the sauce insipid. However, I still pop in a few times a year and buy one, I think it's a sign my memory is fading.

MinervaSaidThar · 24/11/2017 07:04

OliviaStabler yay, I'm not alone! Grin

bellweather · 24/11/2017 07:09

I love them too

chipsandpeas · 24/11/2017 07:12

i quite like them, they are amazing with big mac sauce

Bobbins43 · 24/11/2017 07:13

Love them. Hold the tartare sauce though

steff13 · 24/11/2017 07:18

Does anyone else call then 'fillay o fish'?

What else would you call it?

Pannacott · 24/11/2017 07:40

I'm a fan. And more guilt free than chicken or beef.

paperandpaint · 24/11/2017 07:47

I’m driving past a McDonalds today and now that’s all I’m thinking about!! Well that and their cheese and egg breakfast McMuffin and hash brown. I am actually normally a very healthy eater but a greasy McDonalds breakfast is my guilty secret!

Joinourclub · 24/11/2017 07:50

I do like them, but they are sooooo insubstantial. I could eat them in one bite!

BluthsFrozenBananas · 24/11/2017 07:55

I don’t like them at all, but they do have an interesting back story.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/11/2017 08:06

I can't believe I've just enjoyed that McDonald's fish patty video Confused

I need to get ready for work Grin

tiredbutFINE · 24/11/2017 08:14

I’m vegetarian and the only aspect I ever struggled with was giving up the Filley of Fish....the only fish product I ever ate. Decades ago you could get an “overdone” one from time to time, but apart from that they were/are the food of the gods. I always asked for “extra cheese” as I felt the half a slice policy was most rude of Maccies. I also worked in McD’s and would agree that a FoF is a fresher and healthier choice than a lot of their other stuff.

Rebeccaslicker · 24/11/2017 08:14

Anyone who has ever actually ordered one knows you have to wait whilst it's cooked. See also the veggie ones!

I hadn't had a McDonald's for years and had one on the motorway the other day - I was gutted because it was crap. I do like a mcflurry though.

Now 5 guys - finally got sucked into one of those by DP the other day. those Cajun fries are the fittest things ever!!

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 24/11/2017 08:44

Read somewhere that it's the only McDonald's burger with a steamed bun

It is.

I always asked for “extra cheese” as I felt the half a slice policy was most rude of Maccies.

If you worked there then you probably know this, but the reason it's half a slice and not a full one is because a full slice would be too overpowering for the majority of people.

BarbaraofSevillle · 24/11/2017 08:50

Wasn't the half slice favoured by one of the early McDonald's big wigs?

I'm fine with the half slice of cheese. And when I get my sausage bagel, I have to get it with no cheese at all because I don't like meat and melty cheese together.

Do the half size cheese slices come like that what or do you have to cut them up as you go along?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 24/11/2017 08:53

No, we have to cut them up.

IceFall · 24/11/2017 08:55

I love 'em

You usually have to wait for them so I don't think they are just sitting around. McDonalds has fab hygiene standards, I feel very safe ordering and eating food there.

palmfronds · 24/11/2017 08:57

OMG I've found my people! I love a filaaay (as I like to call them)

And yes to them always being fresh, that's a definite bonus in my book

BarbaraofSevillle · 24/11/2017 09:01

I've just Google mcdonalds fish filet half cheese slice. There's a lot of anger out there on the matter. Definitely more than enough material for a Dave Gorman found poem Grin.
