In not wanting to be a feminist

I know I’m not alone as have had this conversation with friends but does anyone else feel PC stuff is just going too far now. The gender stuff is confusing me - I’m female always have been always will be and perfectly happy that way I don’t want to identify whatever that means with anything else and change my mind or whatever the gender fluid thing is ( that really confuses me) I’m mum to a daughter - who when younger was a pink, princess, Barbie loving frilly dress wearing child. I loved her wearing pretty dresses and wanting pretty hair. I’ve always worked in female dominated jobs - through choice no one forced me from being little I wanted to be cabin crew, my parents would have preferred me to be a solicitor, accountant or doctor like my siblings but supported my decision to go into the beauty industry because that’s what I was happy doing.
When I was younger I was whistled at in the street, had my bum pinched in nightclubs etc I wasn’t offended or outraged.

I don’t want to live in a genderless world, I don’t want my teenage daughter being in gender neutral changing rooms, I don’t even like being referred to as someone’s partner I’m quite happy being called his girlfriend.

I don’t want to offend anyone with my probably old fashioned views - I’m not even old! But I’m getting fed up of constantly hearing and reading about what I should think and believe, i mean the latest fuss about Sleeping beauty ..... what will pc brigade want to ban next?

OP posts:

@BertrandRussell I'm not sure exactly what you mean by my "views on men and women".

I don't vote because it's pointless. It will make no difference. I believe my adult children feel the same.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 25/11/2017 18:06

Fuck this shit.

I am so pleased that I can think for myself.

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:07

I have posted on three threads. One about a supermarket refund, where I posted because my DD has deductions from wages if someone does what the OP of that thread was thinking of doing, one about the number of sexual partners where I thought the OP was being funny and wasn't and this one, because I feel the same as the OP and I wanted to join a conversation. Why does that make me a troll?

seagreengirl · 25/11/2017 18:09

Equal doesn't mean the same.

I am equal to my husband but we are not the same in any shape or form.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 25/11/2017 18:18

I suppose I disagree with you saying "if they stopped fighting these things would likely cease". I don't agree with that statement.

Who do you think runs domestic violence shelters for women, women's aid and rape crisis? The fairies?

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 25/11/2017 18:19

We have a joint account and always have had and my name is on the deeds of the house (is that what you mean?)

Again this is thanks to feminism. You're happy to reap the benefits of it but you're not happy to support it. Charming

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:29

@CherryChasingDotMuncher I just think the job is done I don't see what there is for me to support now as men and women have equal rights, equal pay and both have the right to work, own property and so on.

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:30

@CherryChasingDotMuncher I think rape and violent attacks are terrible things but they are criminal offences and those who commit them should of course be prosecuted, I never said they shouldn't. You seem to be reading things into what I've said that I haven't.

SmileEachDay · 25/11/2017 18:34

I just think the job is done I don't see what there is for me to support now as men and women have equal rights, equal pay and both have the right to work, own property and so on

That’s true the world over, is it?

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:36

@SmileEachDay men and women the world over have terrible lives

SmileEachDay · 25/11/2017 18:38

Whataboutery.

Do you think women internationally need feminism?

Pumperthepumper · 25/11/2017 18:39

Does your husband vote?

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:40

@SmileEachDay if you say so

@Pumperthepumper no he does not.

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:41

@SmileEachDay apologies I didn't answer your other point.
I think the issues in other countries are terrible and there are awful injustices done to men women and children and that we should work as much as we can to support and help (and I do but I don't support just women's charities for example)

Pumperthepumper · 25/11/2017 18:43

How do you feel about your daughter’s bottom being pinched in a nightclub? Or at work?

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:46

@Pumperthepumper the same as I would feel if it happened to my son. It's wrong no matter the sex of the person being pinched. What a strange question.

Pumperthepumper · 25/11/2017 18:47

It’s much more likely to happen to your daughter though. How would you feel?

Pumperthepumper · 25/11/2017 18:48

Sorry, you said ‘it’s wrong’ yes. How do you explain the fact that 98% of crimes are committed by men?

Pumperthepumper · 25/11/2017 18:48

*of VIOLENT crimes, sorry.

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:49

@Pumperthepumper I don't believe I have to explain that. I'm not in the least qualified to explain that.

Pumperthepumper · 25/11/2017 18:50

Because surely that shows a massive difference between men and women? Ie a non-equality?

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:53

@Pumperthepumper but I said already that men and women are not the same.

Pumperthepumper · 25/11/2017 18:54

But wouldn’t you agree that’s a difference between the sexes that should be adressed? Do you see that as a responsibility for men or women to fix?

asmuchuseasachocolatefireguard · 25/11/2017 18:58

@PumperthePumper not really. I think it is how it is and I can't change it and the responsibility to fix it lies with the perpetrator of the crime, regardless of their sex.

Pumperthepumper · 25/11/2017 19:00

Do any of your friends identify as feminists? How do you feel about trans rights?
