Shutting down discussion with accusations of hate speech is exactly how we've gotten into such a dire situation in this first place, with the issues growing.
I have no problem whatsoever with consenting adults choosing to transition to another gender, and I'm more open minded than most since I'd also agree that being transracial or transabled is no less legitimate than being transgender - you can't have it both ways.
However, I am extremely concerned about how easily it may become for anyone with any motivation to self identify as female. I am concerned about the risks of this to women and to trans women. I am concerned that we must pretend that lived experience and male privilege don't exist. I am very concerned that kids are being given extreme drugs - a drug I had to take myself for two years and which has nigh-in destroyed my health for the last decade - with the fuzzy moniker of "puberty blockers" and being told they're safe (my blood tests, bone density scans and morphine requirements beg to differ). I'm concerned that gender politics is regressing and boys who want to play with dolls are now being told they're probably really girls and vice versa. I'm concerned that, if you spend even a small amount of time looking, you'll find Reddit posts from MtF saying they despise women, theyget arpused by being referred to as women, they worry that HRT will make them more stupid (you know, because women are stupid). I'm concerned about law changes where men convicted of serious sexual offences could simply fill in a form and become eligible for a place in a womens prison.
Mostly I am concerned that we cannot even have a conversation about this without being labelled transphobes. It's not us who are behaving like nazis or thought police.
I have always been extremely liberal, an LGBT ally, I have defended the rights of LGBT people for as long as I can remember - but the current angle of trans ideology is becoming dangerous for everyone.
