A maths teacher has been suspended, probably going to be sacked for accidently calling a trans child a girl whilst referring 'well done girls' to a small group of girls. He apologised for his mistake, but weeks later the parents complained.

I don't think he's helped himself by going to the press and 'This Morning' but for a class of pupils to lose a good teacher over this?

It's obvious that the majority of teachers need training on transgender, gender fluid etc. It's not fair that they are thrown in the deep end with no training what so ever. I bet most don't even know what half of it even means!

This isn’t what we would call transsexuals, your homosexual transsexual. This is basically straight men identifying as women.

Men identifying as women, but being attracted to women, often find their dating pool has shrunk.

Straight men aren’t interested. They themselves are not interested in gay men. Neither are they interested in straight women, because if the woman is straight it invalidates the transwoman’s idea of herself as a woman. So the only cohort left is lesbians.

The trans community is not a single entity. Transexuals who will benefit from presenting as the opposite of their biological sex probably just want their body to be as 'correct' as possible for them. While trans women do not all want to lose their penis.

The very definition of being a lesbian means you are a woman attracted to someone of your own sex.

Lesbians have been told by men for years that all they need is a good dick. Men are constantly telling lesbians that they are really a lesbian trapped in a man’s body, wink wink.

Many men find it utterly incomprehensible that sex of any description can happen without a penis.

It’s more than insulting to lesbians to entertain the idea that a man can be one.

I doubt it. People are scared of voicing their true opinions, in case they are called (whatever)-phobic. But those opinions are still there, make no mistake about it. And the arrogance of people thinking they can brainwash everyone else into saying exactly what they want, because they said so..... This won't end well for anyone.

It seems there's no consensus there either, and while some choose "adult human female" as the definition of a woman, another poster says they wouldn't be so arrogant as to try to define the term, which for me descends into the surreal

To my shame I used to feel that this was all rather a silly argument, stirred up by a few self absorbed activists looking for the next "cause" to rant about. Of course I know better now, but the whole thing still sometimes reminds me of those sand/oil mix sculptures, where what you think you see quickly melts away and each movement turns the whole picture into something else
