If you are concerned with the proposed changes to the law, which allow boys/men into every area, space and club currently allocated as girl/women only read on.

Otherwise close the thread.

"What can we do ?"

Write to your MP

Follow up with a visit to the same MP

Tell them that woman's rights are being elimitated in order to virtual signal to the trans population. That these new rules will make things difficult for the original transsexuals and woman. Whilst literally opening the door to female only spaces to sexual offenders.

Take copies of leaflets that they need to read.

Including the Sage leaflet mentioned below, full of all the basic facts.

The Transgendertrend web address with its alternative school based reports on supporting gender non confirming children without throwing girls under the bus.

Tell your MP that many of the original transsexuals are concerned too. Miranda Yardley being a highly recognized example in this category, who is supportive of women's rights and a Mumsnetter.

Search the Mumsnet Feminist section for other links. The damage to girls's safety in schools, woman's rape centres, woman's prisions, women's sports, women's grants, etc.

It is a never ending list of problems but they all start with the potential amendments to the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) that are being debated by government over the next few months.

Tell your MP to OPPOSE the changes to the Gender Recognition Act

Would you consider arrange an in person meeting with your MP. Sounds like they are thoughtful and open to alternative solutions. Transgendertrend website has loads of positive ways to help GNC children within schools, without expecting girls to accept boys in their bathrooms.

I think men questioning this is really useful because women are just constantly told to shut up and stop being hysterical and overreacting.

Booboobooboo84 · 10/11/2017 08:18

I remember when people didn’t want gay men in the men’s bathrooms and lesbians in the women’s bathroom. That was bullshit and so is this.

Splinterz · 10/11/2017 08:18

This forum is dreadful in its ability to link paedophilia with the LGTB community. Shocking.

Well no I’m not bored but as someone whose staying in a women’s refuge that has a trans woman staying in it after she had the shit kicked out of her in the mans bathroom I’m not going to just watch her being kept in danger. So this legislation has to pass

Babieseverywhere · 10/11/2017 08:21

treaclesoda
You are right. Only when men stand up for woman's rights does anything change, which is so depressing.
We should encourage our husbands to write/visit the Mps too.

OK.... so I assume the problem is "men" perving on women in a women only changing room?

If the issue is one of potential sexual attraction, how many women (percentage wise) are gay or bi? Versus the obviously huge number of trans people trying to get into your changing rooms? Which in a large part are cubicles anyway?

These people with weird sexual/gender are already in your changing rooms!! Quick - call the thought police in case that woman over there is either gay or a man in disguise? That woman - she looked at me in my M&S undies - is she perving on me??!! Really??

This is a nonsense issue concocted by people who disparage the Daily Mail... and then come up with stuff they would love.

"They are in YOUR changing rooms!! Root them out!!" (whoever "they" happen to be for this news cycle anyway).

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 10/11/2017 08:22

anyone can choose to identify as whatever sex they feels fits them best

Anyone can choose to identify as whatever gender suits them best.

I’m afraid sex is a biological fact

I'm not terribly bothered about men who identify as women going into female changing rooms (as long as they have enough cubicles) or toilets.

I am enormously bothered about men who identify as women (but have had zero surgery) serving their sentences (often for violent crime) in women-only prisons. That really is throwing vulnerable women in front of the bus to serve the desires of criminal men.

I don't think this is remotely to do with sexual attraction. It's about power. It's about a small but vocal group of people shouting loudly to trample on the rights of women. Because they can. It's old fashioned misogyny dressed up as oh so modern liberal thought.

Please can I encourage you both to write or visit your MP. Give their local office a quick call and ask when their next local surgery is on.

Off on school run Will post requested template links layer on this morning.

But it is so important that EVERYONE gets their opinion across before these changes are changed in parliament.

I wrote to mine, got a bollocks response about the importance of LGBT rights which addressed none of the points madr. He's a Tory whose voting record on gay marriage etc is shocking so God knows what he's on about.

Babieseverywhere · 10/11/2017 08:29

CandyMelts Many MPs change their opinions when face to face with a real person. One such MP was so shocked at the information, he arranged a hearing in parliament. Your voice matters. Call and make an appointment, if you feel you can.

Yes, it is our rights that we are losing. If you haven't done it already please ring/visit your local MP. Let's make a difference today.

Why should women’s sports disappear? Men taking part in mountain biking, weightlifting,MMA as women.

Men who identify as men some days and women others being given prizes eg Philip Bunce.

OnTheRise · 10/11/2017 08:36

I am so tired of reading anti-trans bollocks on Mumsnet. It's divisive, unhelpful, bigoted and offensive. And so many of the arguments used to support it are not just flawed, but downright illogical.

If you're so worried that trans women are going to perve at you in changing rooms, why aren't you more worried that gay women are doing it?

Do you really think that men would go through the intrusive, painful and incredibly difficult processes required simply in order to gain access to women's groups, etc?

I have trans friends. They have a terribly hard life, and aren't going through what they're experiencing just for kicks. They are lovely people, and deserve more compassion and understanding than they get.

I am really surprised that Mumsnet allows such nasty comments to remain on the site. If people were posting racist stuff, or misogynist stuff, or anti-Islam stuff, the comments/threads would be deleted. But anti-trans stuff is allowed to remain and that is shameful.

BishBoshBashBop · 10/11/2017 08:38

@Babieseverywhere

You can't pick and chose who posts on a thread.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 10/11/2017 08:39

I am with you on the main point OP.
I just don't like the modern parlance so was nit picking - sorry.

treaclesoda · 10/11/2017 08:40

You are completely missing the point of the whole discussion. The whole reason why women are worried about this is because no intrusive medical treatment or surgery would be needed if this law change goes ahead. The PM herself said recently that they need to de-medicalise the process.

CaeDyGeg · 10/11/2017 08:40

Do you really think that men would go through the intrusive, painful and incredibly difficult processes required simply in order to gain access to women's groups, etc?

That's the problem though, men don't have to go through that all they have to say is 'I identify as a woman'. Very easy to do and a great opportunity for predators IMO.
