Equality for everyone!!! Hurrah!!

Apart from the fact that equality means the erosion of rights from 50% of the population.

But let’s jump on the bandwagon of being cool and accepting....and not doing any research into the subject, for example how drugs that suppress puberty can result in life limiting side effects.

Let’s not talk about men convicted of rape who end up in women’s prisons or the medals won by men competing in women’s sport.

Agghh

Uokbing may I add one?

'woman' is not 'performing femininity'.

Bucketsandspoons · 20/10/2017 09:53

Araiwa Agree with you. And why wouldn't anyone if they could?

The prison service have given this info to the government including that in interviews prisoners are quite open about the reasons they want to transition, which include prison privileges, easier access to victims, and a higher chance of making bail as women are seen as less threatening. Oh and the prison service also shared with government that the prisoners requesting to transition are in massive majority, serious sexual offenders.

Anyone who frequents MN knows how hard it is to get a conviction for rape, never mind a prison sentence, so please do take a moment to think about what a prison defined 'serious sexual offender' may have on his rap sheet.

StickThatInYourPipe · 20/10/2017 09:53

Uokbing and Bucketsandspoons

I think I am classified as a woman because I like pink and glitter. I also enjoy cooking and very woman stuff like vacuuming and dusting. That is what defines me as a woman.

StickThatInYourPipe · 20/10/2017 09:55

^^ juat to be clear. That was a joke.

Bucketsandspoons · 20/10/2017 10:02

Oh and would also be good for those saying anyone questioning this is bigoted and against trans rights -

What do you think is happening to the statistically small number of actually gender dysphoric, vulnerable men in prison among this stampede of non gender dysphoric serious sexual offenders appropriating and exploiting the provision intended for them? Are you ok with that?

Because I'm really, really not.

ferntwist - it's excellent, isn't it? I was going to suggest that it be compulsory viewing for all here when I posted it :)

TheShaniaTwainExperience · 20/10/2017 10:26

I'm with others, would love to know the nee definition of woman that isn't adult human female. Thanks. (Also hint: you can't use the word woman in your definition!)

I'm a woman because I like sweeping floors and cleaning bathrooms

...said no transwoman ever.

What does it mean to feel like a woman as opposed to being a woman?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/10/2017 10:38

Bloody hell, that video :(

Yes - please share widely.

blackteasplease · 20/10/2017 10:41

It's absolutely terrifying and I agree more should be happening to loose this terrible bill.

I wonder why people are calling May "the left" though. I don't think this is a right / left thing. I certainly don't see the right pointing out that it's bollocks (No pun). I wish they would as they are good at making themselves heard! But many of them hate women so maybe a dilemma???

I thought the case of the trans racial person showed how big a problem this whole thing is. People ridiculed that woman but all the argument employed could apply to transgender too. You don't have the disadvantages of being black if you are born white so don't say your are black when you are not. Similarly you don't have the disadvantages of being a female when you are born male!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/10/2017 10:48

I wonder why people are calling May "the left" though

If you are referring to the comments a page ago we weren't. We were referring to May buying lefty votes. To some extent, I think it is a left / right thing because traditionally the right have been socially and culturally conservative and the left 'progressive' - so the fact that this is led by May is somewhat unusual.

blackteasplease · 20/10/2017 10:52

It is unusual, I guess.

But the left have generally been more on the side of women's rights than the right too? As much as anyone is. So a conundrum for both sides maybe?

I agree with whoever compared this to religious men wanting women to move to accommodate their "right" to sit away from women. You don't get to have your wants accommodated (so these reliogous men and the trans lobby) when it conflicts with someone else's needs/ rights.

JoanneCoften · 20/10/2017 10:53

That video is horrific!

I can see trans rights easily going through, and in a few years/decades etc, we'll see women having to campaign yet again for the rights that have already been hard won.

Half of the population will not be affected by today's decisions, so apart from a few enlightened souls, I can't see many men getting worked up about this because it won't affect them.
Many women believe they are enlightened souls and will advocate with and for trans rights, or they will see hysteria and unnecessary dramatics from those of us who have reached peak trans, which leaves only a minority of women trying to cling onto the rights and the safe spaces we currently have.
The world is turning into a very weird place.

uglyswan · 20/10/2017 10:54

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Trans Safer Sex Guide: [[http://hrc-assets.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com//files/assets/resources/Trans_Safer_Sex_Guide_FINAL.pdf "FRONT HOLE:
We use this word to talk about internal genitals,
sometimes referred to as a vagina. A front hole may self-lubricate,
depending on age and hormone"]] (page 4).

And here's a large part of the tiresome "referencing vaginas (while discussing reproductive rights) reduces people to their genitals and alienates trans people" discussion.

M4Dad · 20/10/2017 10:55

Does our PM understand this at all

Does anyone?

BahHumbygge · 20/10/2017 11:01

A trifurcated conceptualisation of politics helps to understand the issues far more than the simple linear left-right model. Very few people grasp the 2nd wave/radical position, because it's obscured between battles between leftists/liberals and conservatives/traditionalists. Anyone who disagrees with nuances of the left orthodoxy (and women's rights often falls here), even if they are otherwise solidly leftwing, get lumbered in with the reactionary wingnuts of the Republican/UKIP etc parties.

ALittleBitOfButter · 20/10/2017 11:09

It just goes to show how little trans activists know or care about actual women's bodies, when the term "front hole" can be normalised in trans health literature.

It is FUCKING triggering to me, as an actual woman, to have my genitalia described as a hole and the fact that we urinate out of a erm further to the front "hole". But in the warped world of trans ideology, blindly supported by some women, I have "cis privilege" over actual trans women so my views are unimportant.

In fact, "Die Cis Scum" is a regular trope in trans activist vernacular. You can even get little badges from Etsy that say it.

Womanhood is having a hole to be penetrated. But I consider my vagina to be a passage, not a hole.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/10/2017 11:14

It's a great diagram - but it wasn't what I was referring to previously. I was referring to issues of sex / social change / 'morality' more generally and noting that the conservatives (who I don't necessarily see as the same as religious bodies) have generally been well conservative here and the left generally more progressive. I do understand that a preference for gender as being 'real' over sex being real might fuel the conservative fire, but I don't think it quite explains their whole-hearted endorsement of trans politics.

Kimlek · 20/10/2017 11:16

I'm unsure how this can be handled. Whilst women's rights should absolutely not be eroded neither should truly trans people have a tough time. With this in mind surely the 'dysmorphia proof' needs to remain. The truly trans, I would hope, wouldn't want to be associated with this. ???

araiwa · 20/10/2017 11:19

Shitty men make shitty women

But i think judging all trans mtf on the very worst is a poor idea too.

Kimlek · 20/10/2017 11:19

It's worrying but also so complicated!

AdalindSchade · 20/10/2017 11:20

^^ yy Littlebutter. My vagina is not a hole. That's a repulsive, misogynistic and ignorant term to use.
