Equality for everyone!!! Hurrah!!

Apart from the fact that equality means the erosion of rights from 50% of the population.

But let’s jump on the bandwagon of being cool and accepting....and not doing any research into the subject, for example how drugs that suppress puberty can result in life limiting side effects.

Let’s not talk about men convicted of rape who end up in women’s prisons or the medals won by men competing in women’s sport.

Agghh

I'm a woman. I know that because I have a female body and everybody can see I have a female body, and have had one all my life.
I don't know what I have in common with the average transwoman which makes us both women.

Here's one link

"trans is not an illness"

"we need to de-medicalise"

SO THE NHS WILL NO LONGER HAVE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT

GetYourHandsOffMyUnicorn · 20/10/2017 09:07

So if the aim is to have trans demedicilised and not recognise as an illness does that mean that people with gender dysphoria won't be able to access mental health support? Because if so that's actually quite terrifying.

Lallypopstick · 20/10/2017 09:08

Pregnancy isn’t an illness either. The NHS pays for that.

MagdalenLaundry · 20/10/2017 09:09

I wonder if TM will be so keen to embrace trans disabled and give them access to scarce resources

GetYourHandsOffMyUnicorn · 20/10/2017 09:10

Because trans women are women

They are? Well that's fantastic! In that case we can just forget about transphobia as it clearly is not a thing if transwomen are no different to women. This is fantastic news Smile

Knusper · 20/10/2017 09:10

So if the aim is to have trans demedicilised and not recognise as an illness does that mean that people with gender dysphoria won't be able to access mental health support?

Sadly I think that this is already the case and a cause of frustration for many trans people.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/10/2017 09:11

It's a cheap way to buy the minds of the left and potentially of disaffected Labour voters while deflecting attention from the Tories' efforts to decimate the tattered remains of the post-war consensus not mentioning brexit.

Knusper · 20/10/2017 09:20

YetAnotherSpartacus

Yes. The lack of critical thinking in the political left's response is also very concerning.

Either that, or they are also throwing women's hard-won legal protections under the bus for cheap political points and don't care.

I think that the left has a long history of fucking over women, sadly, especially when it is a case of women v. another minority group.

In danger of derailing but with that line of reasoning, would a white person who 'blacks up' be allowed to say they're now black or a poc? If not why not?

Well there was that woman who was 'transracial' she was absolutely ridiculed by the press

^ except for they will be recorded in the crime stats as women once they self-declare.

Theresa May is trying to find a popular cause to shout about to try to deflect from the car crash that is Brexit. Pity women will be thrown under the bus for it

Here is an interesting account of transgender crimes against women.

soapboxqueen · 20/10/2017 09:38

The erasure of information about crime is already getting to the point where you cannot get to the truth. Only via Twitter do I often realise that a crime reported as being female is actually male. MRAs have insisted for years that women are just as violent as men only a feminist conspiracy keeps this under wraps. Changing data will feed into this and we won't be able to name the problem anymore. It'll be too well hidden.

StickThatInYourPipe · 20/10/2017 09:42

It boggles my mind that anyone can think this is true

Uokbing · 20/10/2017 09:43

Still waiting for dinosaurs to define 'woman'. Or anyone else to for that matter.

This always happens on these threads - someone comes on and says 'MN is so transphobic, transwoman are women' but when they are asked to back up that statement by defining what a woman actually is or how, for example, I know I am a woman, suddenly they disappear.

How about we start with how you definitely do not define 'woman'?

'Woman' is NOT 'a feeling in a man's head'.

Maybe we can go from there.

Bucketsandspoons · 20/10/2017 09:48

I'm still hoping someone will answer the question about what possible definition of a woman is there if you take out 'biologically adult human female'?

araiwa · 20/10/2017 09:48

i think prisoners becoming transgender for the perceived easier life in womens prison is the same as those who find religion with hope of earlier parole etc- theyre trying to game the system
