Oh I love this sort of piffle- so high- minded about how democracy is failing/what a terrible country blah, blah and thinking you are somehow above it all/ more switched on /cleverer than those who do vote by making pointless gestures by not voting. Yes. I suppose people who think like this wish there wasn't universal suffrage. That the lower minded couldn't vote.

IdontlooklikeEmmaWatson · 05/10/2017 08:56

"There wasn't much she could do about having a filthy cold, or the letters dropping off the wall."

She'll live and go back to her warm, posh home with no worries about her pension, healthcare, housing

Imagine having a filthy cold and dampness in your home that your private ll is not willing to fix and that makes your dc sick and having to drag yourself to that low paid call centre job (with a sore throat) where you have no job security and/or only being able to offer your dc frozen chips for tea as there is no money for more nutritious food. Imagine your family being torn apart because of Theresa May's retrospective and ineffective changes in immigration policy whilst the PM is shrugging her shoulders and letting red tops get away with bullying and promoting xenophobia.

naaa, she has made her bed and she can bloody well lie in it.

The prank was silly and boyish but well executed. I love that she was put on the spot in front of the British media one year after being so hateful about EU citizens in her conference speech. No I have absolutely no sympathy or empathy with her. She is not vulnerable but utterly incompetent and bigoted to boot.

Spakledsockmonkey · 05/10/2017 08:59

Well it all went a bit In the Thick of it didn’t it?

Gran22 · 05/10/2017 08:59

Evening shadows, arrogant applies to Tony Blair not Theresa May. She may not be getting things right, but arrogant? No.

Maudlinmaud · 05/10/2017 09:00

The west wing speech Shock what?
She is being set up to fail, I actually think that is quite horrible.

Laiste · 05/10/2017 09:03

Shock @ west wing speech copy. Does she write her own speeches? Who's idea was that?

(Olbas oil works wonders when my DCs are binged up with a cold. A bit sprinkled on a cloth tucked just under the pillow clears their passages as they breath it in)

Laiste · 05/10/2017 09:03

binged up? BUNGED.

Embekkisson1 · 05/10/2017 09:03

IdontlooklikeEmmaWatson: Everything you crossed out , well to me that's the British Dream . Theresa May isn't offering that , she will go round the houses with a lot of jargon and catch phrases but what people want is abit of what she's got . She's not real, she's out of touch .

The80sweregreat · 05/10/2017 09:04

It was shameful that the prankster just stood there before anyone did anything to have him removed -puts the UK in a bad light ( again)
However, i am now wondering how much longer she will be able to cling on - the conference hasn't been good for any of them and any policies she was trying to get across has been lost. The knives have been out for a while, the Tories do not like failure and are a ruthless bunch. With Brexit brewing its just becoming ever more desperate and its the UK citizens that will lose out.

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 05/10/2017 09:05

Idont

I agree

guilty100 · 05/10/2017 09:05

I absolutely wet myself laughing. Pure Thick of It. Brilliant.

OnionKnight · 05/10/2017 09:06

Was this the same comedian who threw money at Sepp Blatter?

amusedbush · 05/10/2017 09:07

I was cackling the whole way through. It couldn't have happened to someone more deserving.

Threehoursfromhome · 05/10/2017 09:09

She's not being set up to fail. This situation is a direct result of her calling an election, which she did not have to call, and losing her party the overall majority.

The Tories are ruthless against failing leaders. They always have been. But if May had an overall majority she would not be in this position.

sinceyouask · 05/10/2017 09:12

Not an ounce of sympathy for her. She's an incompetent fool leading a government which has brought and plans to bring more misery to much of the country.

The80sweregreat · 05/10/2017 09:14

Threehours, i agree. If it wasn't for Brexit, she would be history by now.
Although, maybe she wouldnt have called the election when she did, so its hard to say really thinking about it. If remain had won, DC would still be in charge? i really dont know now!
Either way, as a labour supporter i am sceptical that they will win with JC in charge - not that i dislike him, but i still dont think enough people would vote for them with him at the helm. Not enough for a majority government. British politics is a bit of a mess and they are all floundering.

BoysofMelody · 05/10/2017 09:14

When the Guardian are less negative about the Conservative Prime Ministers speech than the Telegraph is that must be concerning for her.

Well the Torygraph have a pro-Johnson ace to grind.

Trailedanderror · 05/10/2017 09:14

Sweet Schadenfreude

Trampire · 05/10/2017 09:17

As a floating voter, I'll admit I quite liked her when she started. No great passion from me, but I thought she was a steady ship. I even thought she'd a sensible desicion in calling the election.

Then the campaign started and the manifesto came out. .

After yesterday, I honestly think that bad vibes and awfulness just follow her around now. She's tainted beyond hope. She needs to go. Who on earth should replace is a thornier issue.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/10/2017 09:17

Was this the same comedian who threw money at Sepp Blatter?

Yep whilst promoting a tour

Maudlinmaud · 05/10/2017 09:21

Oh I didn't recognise the comedian. He makes me yawn. What an unfunny prick. Security knew rightly what he was going to do and I don't mean security in the venue.

Spakledsockmonkey · 05/10/2017 09:27

A thought just occurred to me. I had no sympathy for her whatsoever. No one bit. The comedian was a twat though. Never found pranks like that funny.

DaisyDrip · 05/10/2017 09:29

I like her.

I think she came across as less of a maybot & more human today - none of it was her fault & she proved her tenacity in a way.

^ This. After the election she should have gone, however had she resigned the opposition would then have said the new leader had no mandate so calls for a new election would have grown. The idea of Corbyn in number 10 leaves me cold.

ImminentDisaster · 05/10/2017 09:32

I'll never feel sorry for that woman. The things that she has overseen and will do to the vulnerable of this country and actually, the country in general with her incompetent Brexit leadership and cabinet should never be greeted with sympathy.

The speech was filled with the most blatant hypocrisy ever, if anyone could bear to listen to it over the cough. No, she gets no sympathy from me. I would say that the sooner she goes, the better, but who is there to replace her. What a complete lack of talent and intelligence we have on both sides of the political spectrum.

CanadianCanoe · 05/10/2017 09:33

She should have edited the speech and spoken for much less time = less chance of losing voice, and more 'punch' in what she was saying.
