I'd feel for her on a human level if she acted like one.

Embekkisson1 · 05/10/2017 00:31

Joeymaynardslimegreendress: I absolutely would criticise a mans dress sense if he looked a mess or unfashionable and was in the public eye . Theresa May needs to stop experimenting with her fashion look if she wants to appear "strong and stable ". Margaret' Thatcher looked exactly what she was " Iron Lady " . Fashion is a very powerful tool .

mathanxiety · 05/10/2017 00:33

What the heck is 'The British Dream'?

ScaryMary81 · 05/10/2017 00:39

The fact anyone would judge a PM on fashion sense, as opposed to integrity or policy speaks volumes.

And undermines the original debate, at hand. This is our lives, our people, our services and our country not a celeb fashion faux paux!

ScaryMary81 · 05/10/2017 00:45

I suspect the tory activists are trying to steer the conversation to a more superficial path in order to undermine it - nice try but like the radical policy changes we have seen this week - to late 😂👌😂

gluteustothemaximus · 05/10/2017 00:59

I thought the p45 thing was funny.

He studied medicine at Manchester university and practiced medicine for 6 years until 2007 when he decided to give comedy a go.

Maybe he gave her the p45 as he’s pissed off with Tories and doctors/nurses pay cap.

Either way, pretty funny, as well as serious because clearly security were shit.

TM was set up to fail. Boris has wanted the job all along. After brexit vote, spineless cunt camoron stepped down, and someone had to take his place. Boris will want a long term crack at it, and whoever took over immediately after and dealt with brexit career already over.

Soon as brexit is done, TM is off, and no doubt in will step another spineless cunt Boris. Who felt he could lead the brexit campaign but not see it through.

TM has well and truly been screwed over by her own party.

Nasty party indeed.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/10/2017 06:13

What the heck is the ‘British Dream’?

Dunno. If you ask Rees Moggs, it’s a return to Britain ruling classes ruling the waves with starving uneducated plebs. And I don’t begin to understand what it means to people, who come from Scotland, who voted for independence or people from N Ireland not included. Or me, who voted remain. For me, it’s a fucking nightmare.

ILoveMillhousesDad · 05/10/2017 06:25

As a pp said, I also saw it as her choking on her own words.

Either that or her robot voice fighting to get to the surface.

StealthPolarBear · 05/10/2017 06:31

"mathanxiety

What the heck is 'The British Dream'?"
I think she said it's the expectation that life for your children is better than for you. Ie things improve each generation

Saucery · 05/10/2017 06:36

The Press have made a ridiculously big deal of it. Woman With Stinking Cold Has Cough. Unfortunate it happened at an important speech but attempts to read deeper things into it are laughable and showed a considerable bias that deserves looking into (BBC in particular). I'm not a Tory voter either.
The 'comedy' stunt? Biggest laugh from that was him being towed off in handcuffs. Wanker.

LakieLady · 05/10/2017 06:37

watching our country and official services crumble before our eyes due to Austerity

It was almost like a metaphor for our of public services: security breach/police cuts, the cough that wouldn't go away/NHS failing, sign falling apart/crumbling infrastructure.

It was awful, but I didn't feel sorry for her. May and her cronies have inflicted far worse on people.

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 05/10/2017 07:49

It gets better. Part of her speech was directly lifted from speech scenes in The West Wing Grin

derxa · 05/10/2017 08:01

Appalling lapse in security & this whole witch hunt by social media is very scary to me. JC is one of the most manipulative career politicians & I really hope he never becomes PM. This.

And I don't want Cardinal Richelieu aka John McDonnell either.

Ifailed · 05/10/2017 08:03

She's clearly out of her depth, but no other politician in the Tory party would want to be leader as the car-crash that is brexit is delivered. She's their fall-guy, either she's too stupid to realise or so desperate for power whatever the circumstances, can't decide which it is.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/10/2017 08:05

Maybe he gave her the p45 as he’s pissed off with Tories and doctors/nurses pay cap.

Doubt it. He's about to go on tour. Which also tends to coincide with the timings of his other 'pranks' too.

Nothing but self promotion.

PoppyPopcorn · 05/10/2017 08:06

Everyone's had a day at work when nothing goes right and the world is appearing to conspire against us.

However - none of us have had to suffer through that sort of day in such a public way as Theresa May.

derxa · 05/10/2017 08:07

I loved it when Mr May rushed up to give her a big cuddle.

derxa · 05/10/2017 08:08

Either that or her robot voice fighting to get to the surface.
Are you John Crace?

EnidNextDoor · 05/10/2017 08:17

Nooo really?

Anniegetyourgun · 05/10/2017 08:25

Surely her cough is completely non news? I really cannot understand the massive fuss about it. What the speech was about, now, let's get on to analysing that, eh? That's the meat of it. What the PM announces at a party conference. At least I thought it was. There's plenty to tear apart in what she actually said, but no-one was listening. They're too busy circling like sharks when they spot a weakness, any weakness, including a minor ailment particularly common at this time of year.

As for Boris pretending to be right behind her, presumably not so he can find a better angle for the knife - anyone who thinks that was sincere is too gullible to be allowed out, let alone to vote. Corbyn is said to be manipulative compared to Saint Boris? Don't make me laugh, I have a cold too and I don't need another bout of coughing. Fortunately I don't have to make any speeches today.

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 05/10/2017 08:27

Here Wink

Lottapianos · 05/10/2017 08:27

I am no fan or the Tories or Theresa May but I thought she coped pretty well in very difficult circumstances. There wasn't much she could do about having a filthy cold, or the letters dropping off the wall. The P45 prank was stupid and childish, but she kept her cool. Someone's head needs to roll over that security breach for sure. Really shocking

I think she's a useless PM but I think the media are massively over hyping how badly the speech went. On a human level, I do feel for her - she must be utterly exhausted and so humiliated. I don't know why she's putting herself through it

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 05/10/2017 08:43

Democracy has turned into a version of a shoddy reality series on a rather crap tv channel, where, only die hard fans really participate, and vote

I love politics and our country but didn't vote, I walked out of the ballot station, because it's a mockery, a choice between different versions of fake promises and outright lies, and I no longer want to participate

Oh I love this sort of piffle- so high- minded about how democracy is failing/what a terrible country blah, blah and thinking you are somehow above it all/ more switched on /cleverer than those who do vote by making pointless gestures by not voting.

IdontlooklikeEmmaWatson · 05/10/2017 08:48

"The P45 thing was a bit cheap in my view, and it was a nasty thing to do to."

No pity from me I'm afraid.

yours sincerely, citizen of nowhere

time4chocolate · 05/10/2017 08:52

Unfortunately someone had to pick up the shitty stick and run with it knowing half the country were going to be pissed off whichever direction she took.

I wouldn’t take that on for any amount of money. I admire her balls when all around lost theirs and she would still be my preferred choice out of all MPs from all parties (with a special mention to Corbyn who would, I believe, prove to be a spectacular disaster).

Before anyone suggests otherwise, I am very much a floating voter.
