To ask you to share the funniest reasons for your toddler's tantrums

I recently read "cutted up pear" and realised that there hasn't been a funny thread about unreasonable toddler tantrums for a while.

My ds aged 3 once had an hour long tantrum because the sausage kept falling out of his sandwich but that's pretty mild compared to some of the ones I've read about so please share.

Dd was upset with the wall today as it hurt her when she tried to bit it (was told not too)

I agreed to take DD to the park when she asked to go to the park but actually she hates going out and the park and me. I wasn’t fussed either way

7 year old cried when we were going to take him out to a restaurant said he hated the place we were going to, we said alright we just won't go then, he then had an hour long meltdown about really wanting to go and loving that restaurant

Recent tantrums include

• I wouldn’t let her play with a hammer.

• she was tired and I made her all cosy

• I gave her milk when she asked for it but changed her mind once i poured it

• wouldn’t let her play with my makeup

• she wanted crisps for dinner

It always surprises me how much anger there is in such little people. My friend's dd once had a tantrum because the dog looked at her.

Not a toddler but ds had an absolute meltdown because I bought a new vacuum cleaner and it didn't smell right. I used to put a bit of essential oil on the filter of my old one so it blew out nice smells but hadn't thought to do it with my new one yet.

The crying went on for nearly an hour. He walked from room to room, doing big dramatic sniffs, sobbing with each sniff that the smell wasn't right. The whole time this was going on we were completely ignoring him as it was just ludicrous.

He was 6 when he did that...

To be fair he did come down with a stinker of a cold the next day so maybe he was feeling under the weather

I put her dirty nappy in the bin. A very tearful "bye bye poo poo, love you"

Today DD started crying because I wouldn't take her to the swings after the supermarket. I bumped into a colleague and DD stopped crying, smiles, said hi, waited politely while we chatted, said bye nicely and began wailing for the swings again the very moment we started walking.

She also sobbed big wet tears today because I had made her lunch. She kept crying "not eating, not eating" at the very same time as she crammed her lunch in.

She is Fragile today.

Dd2 had a meltdown because she put her sock on inside out the other day.

Ha ha these are great. I just remembered another one my dd had when she was about two. She loved a TV show with a big red dog called Clifford. We were in a newsagent that had a toy section and she spotted an enormous Clifford on display. She got hold of it and wouldn't let go and I had to prise it off her and carry her back to the car kicking and screaming whilst wailing "Clippord, I waaaaaaant Clippord" .

The cat wouldn't say hello back when my DS said hello to the cat caused a good 10 min tantrum

Just yesterday my 2 year old misunderstood what I said and repeated it to my 5 year old. Both of them then started crying and going on one. What was it I supposedly said? "Daddy and I will eat dinner. You're not going to, you're going in the bath instead." Cue tears that they weren't gonna be fed.

What I actually said was "we'll eat dinner... You two are both going in bath later" (as opposed to shower). Never have I ever felt so awful about one of their outbursts!

My life feels like one long tantrum.

Ds1 has pants that have monsters on them, the monster is to go at the back. He was having none of it.

If either of the dcs socks toes aren't correctly lined up. They freak out. There is many more but I'm too tired to type

"No no no that's MY POO!! myyyyy poooooo..."
She was upset that I was taking her poo away!

I gave him a big bit of toast but he wanted it cut up.
Tantrum.
I cut up the toast.
Tantrum. He wanted it big again.

My son was inconsolable when I explained I could not put his bum "on the front" because he wanted to poo standing up.

When my DS was three, he threw a total wobbler because the fog that had been down during the drive to school had burnt off and was nowhere to be seen on the way home.

He had been looking forward to seeing it again....

My DS cried for a solid 30 minutes after he saw me change his new sisters nappy. 'Why you take her willy?'. He genuinely thought I'd stolen it and telling him she never had a willy made him cry harder! He still says 'you can take my boxers off but you leave my willy on' when I'm changing him even though he finally understands the whole boy/girl bits situation.

DS didn't want his lunch. Wailed for me to take it away and put it in the bin. So I took it away. Which started a full blown tantrum because he didn't want it taken away. I brought it back. Tantrum intensified. Turned out it needed to be in the floor in a very specific spot. Tantrum eased off.

He also had a tantrum once because I wouldn't let him walk through some flower beds. He lay down in them instead and screamed.

He's bad about baths as well, even now. Will scream the place down because he doesn't want when, then screen again when it's time to get out.

My Dd when she was younger had a big screaming in the street,laying on the floor tantrum.

Why?

Because I couldn't stop the wind blowing

Mine recently had a 20-minute tantrum because it was cloudy and he couldn't see the moon. A couple of days earlier, he'd he's got upset because the moon wouldn't hide behind the clouds!
