Basically that.. would I be unreasonable to take them out for a couple of hours, then straight to school from the hospital.

DC are 4 and 5.
I want to take them with me for the scan.. it's the sexing scan and I'd love for them to be there.

It is 10am so they'd be back at school by 11:30 at the latest.

This will be our last baby and can't afford to have a 4D one during a half term.

One of my childhood memories is accompanying my mum to a pregnancy scan and it being bad news. I still remember the cry and her face and I was only 6/7

Jesus are you listening OP??

It's an anomaly scan. You've said you're at risk of problems. For God's sake don't put them or yourself in this position. Bad news can happen at any scan whether you're being scanned every 4 weeks or not. Just don't do it!

If you have another option, which you do as they would be at school, I wouldn't take them. The potential for devastating news aside, our anomaly scan appointment took about 2hr and even then I still had to go back the following week to look at something again as they couldn't get the view they needed. My kids would have been so bored. They did come to a later scan to see their siblings (by prior agreement - and actually a suggestion - of the sonographer) and were all cute for a few minutes but lost interest pretty quickly, I felt a bit disappointed but a lot of it does just look like black and white blobs on the screen and they told me afterwards it looked nothing like a baby so they felt a bit weird about it. I don't regret taking them to that one but it was a fortnightly growth check. There's no way I would ever take them to the 12 or 20 week scans if I had an alternative.
