To think you shouldn't fucking comment on a strangers appearance?!

So.. I work in a customer facing job where I deal with many customers in one day, taking their car keys, handing them back once the work is done etc etc.

Today a lady came in who lets just say I found a little bit... strange. She randomly came out with "you have white on your nose... do you know!" In let's just say a not very nice manner. It wasn't in the manner of a woman looking out for another woman. It was bitchy. I said yes I know, it's highlighter. (I always put a tiny bit on the tip of my nose. It's a feature I'm now proud of since having a rhinoplasty last year.) and it didn't look white .. no one else said it was noticeable. Then she said.. "yes... it's white.."

Like what the fuck?! I saw her grey roots poking through her horrendous period blood coloured home dye job but I didn't say fuck all. You shouldn't comment on people's appearance.. it's rude :)

Liam is coming for you OP

ILoveMillhousesDad · 14/09/2017 18:43

Oops. Posted twice Blush

jenniferl1983 · 14/09/2017 18:44

Dippingmytoesin - the OP stated it was said in a bitchy way and not a trying to be helpful way. I'm assuming the OP is bright enough to tell the difference.

Without seeing a photo of the OP I don't know how it looked but it could look a bit like this i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/06/16/20/417A169600000578-4611904-image-m-43_1497642686244.jpg. It looks noticeable but you can tell it's make up and part of the overall look.

Or the OP was offended by what the woman said and therefore found the tone bitchy based on her bias. It doesn't have anything to do with being bright.

SaucyJack · 14/09/2017 18:46

I think she was rude.

All generations have their make-up fails, and unless she's been living under a bush for the past three years she knows perfectly damn well that smearing glitter all over your face so that you look like you've just beamed down from the planet Zog is the current fashion.

Yes, it looks shit. But so did the 90s eyebrows, and the 80s blue eyeshadow.

It's bad manners to tell people they look shit when it's quite obvious that shit was the look they were going for.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 14/09/2017 18:47

We need a photo of the tip of your nose to judge properly and fairly.

With highlighter.

TheDowagerCuntess · 14/09/2017 18:48

My manager used to always have two small lines of concealer under her eyes. Unblended.

I never said anything, because, well, you don't.

She probably also thought no-one noticed, because no-one said anything.

In hindsight, saying something was probably the kinder thing to do, as literally everyone would have noticed. And (idly) wondered what was going on. But I would never in a million years have said anything.

This thread has made me realise I haven't noticed it on her recently. So maybe someone else said something.

2017SoFarSoGood · 14/09/2017 18:51

Yes she was very rude. As are you, commenting on her appearance here.

and btw: you have white on your nose

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 14/09/2017 18:52

As an aside, whats the point in being proud of your nose? It isnt your actual nose

So bloody spiteful splendid why are you so nasty?

So basically you have been walking around with shit make up and no one told you till today? diddums

zero again, just spiteful. What is with people that it is ok to be so openly nasty?

ForgotwhatIcameinherefor · 14/09/2017 18:54

I almost stopped a very well turned out young woman in M&S once to say that a passing glance told me that she was wearing a hearing aid rather than the trendy elongated round the outer edge of the ear cuff accessory item it turned out to be when she subsequently lent past me at the avocados.
I would definitely want to be told this sort of thing as like a pp said, if one person sees it, others will too.
But I'm glad I didn't now and have learned something today Blush Thanks mn!

Dustbunny1900 · 14/09/2017 18:55

Why manipulate the way the shape of your nose looks with highlight and contour after spending all that money to have the shape permanently changed??

Anyhow , yea it was rude but now you know what it actually looks like to strangers.

BusterGonad · 14/09/2017 18:56

Op you should've known that any post about make up that isn't in Style and Beauty wouldn't end well!

Shestolethewitchesredshoes · 14/09/2017 18:58

You need to talk to your boss about old ladies. He should ban them - no one, not even old ladies is allowed to comment on your makeup!

Perhaps he could make a sign for the door warning customers to beware the white tipped nose staffer - her bark is worse than her bite. If theyre lucky he might have ear muffs at the ready so they can drown at the angry tirade anytime anyone even just glances in your direction?

But seriously, you put highlighter on your nose. Highlight is meant to draw attention to your features - don't wear it if your not happy with people looking at it.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 14/09/2017 18:59

You highlight your nose?

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 14/09/2017 18:59

Vacuous shite.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/09/2017 19:00

I sometimes just have to tell someone how much I love their shoes or skirt and so far nobody has looked too angry. And if I were to see someone with their skirt tucked into their knickers I might tell them. Maybe I've got it all wrong?

Of course not. I do too and it is nice to get a compliment.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 14/09/2017 19:02

But the woman wasn't even bitchy. She just said the OP had something white on the end of her nose. and looked a nana

She didn't say "you do know you look a total twat with all that white glittery highlighter on the end of your nose babe?" did she?

This morning, I was talking to one of dd's teachers, and she'd got lippy on her teeth. I said "btw, do that you;ve got a bit of lippy on your teeth"

I didn't say "mwahahahaha, been doing some rainbow kissing Gloria?"

(thought the OP, who doesn't exactly hold back with her comments about others would appreciate the menstrual mention Hmm)

PortiaCastis · 14/09/2017 19:04

Hmmm pot and kettle I think.

dragonwarrior · 14/09/2017 19:04

I'm literally horrified at a grown woman using 'period blood' as an insult...

MaidOfStars · 14/09/2017 19:04

Highlighter on the tip? Aren't you supposed to highlight down the centre length?

caggie09 · 14/09/2017 19:04

I think she should of let you be. Its not really any of her business, She could of just kept it to herself amd got on with her day.

KindergartenKop · 14/09/2017 19:05

I thought this was about neon pen on her nose!

Coconutspongexo · 14/09/2017 19:08

I must be missing something no one told the OP she looked shit? She was told she had something on her nose.

I wouldn't even class that as commenting on someone's appearance if someone thought I had something on my face I'd want to be told.

Sugarformyhoney · 14/09/2017 19:09

Once a lady kindly tapped me on the shoulder to tell me the top of my thong was peeking over my jeans waistband (early 00s, forgive me). I turned to thank her and found a 60 odd year old with her arse cheeks hanging out of her leopard print hot pants. Me and my friend almost died laughing 😂
