To think you shouldn't fucking comment on a strangers appearance?!

So.. I work in a customer facing job where I deal with many customers in one day, taking their car keys, handing them back once the work is done etc etc.

Today a lady came in who lets just say I found a little bit... strange. She randomly came out with "you have white on your nose... do you know!" In let's just say a not very nice manner. It wasn't in the manner of a woman looking out for another woman. It was bitchy. I said yes I know, it's highlighter. (I always put a tiny bit on the tip of my nose. It's a feature I'm now proud of since having a rhinoplasty last year.) and it didn't look white .. no one else said it was noticeable. Then she said.. "yes... it's white.."

Like what the fuck?! I saw her grey roots poking through her horrendous period blood coloured home dye job but I didn't say fuck all. You shouldn't comment on people's appearance.. it's rude :)

Why are you putting highlighter pen on your nose? Like Tippex? That's strange behaviour. I think I might have said the same thing - and risked your wrath about my grey roots!

It obviously was white.

Some people use so much highlighter their faces look like light bulbs!

I mean, she wouldn't have said it if she hadn't noticed it, would she?

Sayyouwill · 14/09/2017 18:13

Highlighting and contouring can look amazing in pictures and in the mirror where it's all 2D but IRL it looks like you've sneezed into a face powder

SusanTheGentle · 14/09/2017 18:14

Highlighter that looks lovely in pictures can often be a bit much IRL.

That said, I would never presume to comment on the mad make up looks of anyone I came into contact with unless asked - she was rather rude.

also if I commented on my train I'd never stop; faces contoured so aggressively it looks like they'd gone at them with a marker pen, completely mental eyebrows that might leap off and attack you, stripes of highlighter in odd places, the lady that turns her own badly dyed hair into a JoJo bow, boys who need a kind sister to teach them the mysteries of exfoliating before fake tan

Cubtrouble · 14/09/2017 18:15

Maybe OP just maybe you should take it as a warning that your makeup looks ridiculous.

Describing someone as having period blood coloured hair makes you sound like an arsehole. Which you may or may not be.

Get some makeup lessons and deal with your white nose before commenting on a customers appearance.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 14/09/2017 18:15

So basically you have been walking around with shit make up and no one told you till today? diddums

off back to reddit

MatildaTheCat · 14/09/2017 18:16

So would it have been ok if she'd praised some aspect of your appearance? 'Golly, what a perfect nose you have,' or similar?

I sometimes just have to tell someone how much I love their shoes or skirt and so far nobody has looked too angry. And if I were to see someone with their skirt tucked into their knickers I might tell them. Maybe I've got it all wrong? Hmm

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 14/09/2017 18:17

Why would you put white highlighter on the end of your fecking nose?! She probably thought it was accidental, like only drawing on one eyebrow. Or walking round with your skirt in your knickers...

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 14/09/2017 18:18

Daughter of my friend highlights her nose (strobes Grin)

It probably looks awesome in photos

But i can see it

I wouldn't say anything to her or you so you are not being unreasonable

DeadGood · 14/09/2017 18:19

Yeah I follow a few makeup artists on Instagram and they do the highlighter on nose thing. It's not cute. Down the centre of the nose is odd but makes sense; shimmer on the tip of your nose makes you look like a festive reindeer.

mintich · 14/09/2017 18:19

I do get what you mean.when I wear highlighter there is a woman at work who will without fail say "there's glitter on your face" .....yeah I know! She also points out that another woman's hair "doesn't match" ....she has highlights!!!

You're just a rude aren't you really commenting on someone's appearance at all.

demirose87 · 14/09/2017 18:22

It's like a new trend these days, to have plastered on make up and random white stripes all over the face, they're not doing it correctly, obviously.I wish some people could see how ridiculous they look but I wouldn't go up to a stranger and tell them to their face as it is rude.

splendidisolation · 14/09/2017 18:23

Hilarious re period.blood.

But basically - your contouring doesnt work. It apparently looks like white paint on your nose.

As an aside, whats the point in being proud of your nose? It isnt your actual nose.

DearMrDilkington · 14/09/2017 18:23

Like what the fuck?! I saw her grey roots poking through her horrendous period blood coloured home dye job but I didn't say fuck all

Meow.

Glumglowworm · 14/09/2017 18:23

Sounds like your contouring is badly done tbh

And you sound like a bitch with your comments about her

Lottey90 · 14/09/2017 18:23

Totally agree with you. I find most of the time it's jealousy and they want to put you down

QuackDuckQuack · 14/09/2017 18:23

Highlighter seems to be designed to look like you are reflecting light, but in real life if you look like that but there isn't a light source pointing towards you then it will just look weird.

steff13 · 14/09/2017 18:24

I generally only comment on someone's appearance if it's positive. But, if I thought you had something on your nose I would have told you, because who wants to walk around with something on their nose? Regardless of your perception of her tone, it sounds like she was trying to save you embarrassment.

Coconutspongexo · 14/09/2017 18:24

It will look white btw most MUAs will tell you strobing is mostly for photos not for day to day wear Smile

DearMrDilkington · 14/09/2017 18:24

It isnt your actual nose.

Grin
jaseyraex · 14/09/2017 18:24

Highlighter on the end of your nose? Really? 🤔 that's odd whether you're proud of your new nose or not. I imagine it to look like a shiny Mr tumble.

Barbaradidit · 14/09/2017 18:25

She thought you'd had a quick bump in the toilets and was letting you know
