AIBU- Someone has used my unusual baby name

I wanted my baby to have a one of a kind unique name.
I made up a name that I love. It's definetly never been used before.
(I realise this sounds dodgy already)

Anyway, my baby is 7 months old and someone in my town has just given birth and used the name.
I actually feel really gutted about it.

I realise I am about to be flamed in the comments.
BUt how can I feel less gutted about this? Meh

Not to toot my own horn, but I've been sitting on this gem of a name for months waiting for the right opportunity to whip it out.

Superbeagle 😂😂😂

MrsHathaway · 12/09/2017 07:40

Decaffeinated Butt is a dreadful name.

Great spot! 👍

BrieAndChilli · 12/09/2017 13:23

I deal with clients details and we had the same pool of clients (they all live on an island so the same names crop up over and over) and today for the first time ever I came across a Farrah!

3EyedRaven · 12/09/2017 16:37

Thank you cat
I'm looking at the girls list, in 2015 there were three girls called Ella-.
As in, Ella hyphen. But nothing after the hyphen? Wtf Confused

TwoFs · 12/09/2017 16:45

Perhaps you have to pronounce the dash? I've heard of a girl named La-a, pronounced Ladasha Confused

TheColonelAdoresPuffins · 12/09/2017 16:48

Think that's an urban legend

My colleague has just phoned her husband to ask him if he can take Farrah to Brownies tonight.

Op is hiding under a rock.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 12/09/2017 16:57

Ha ha Superbeagle I suppose he could've shortened that name..Oh hang on that would be Archi bald Butt.

Fruitcocktail6 · 12/09/2017 17:00

Did OP ever confirm if it was Farrah?

3EyedRaven · 12/09/2017 17:56

Unfortunately Elladash isn't an urban legend Grin

catlover7777 · 12/09/2017 18:04

I wonder if Ella- could be a mistake on the birth certificate and the parents were going for something like Ella-Mae?

Myheartbelongsto · 12/09/2017 18:09

I always feel sorry for kids with made up names.

Fekko · 12/09/2017 18:13

Farrah? As in Farrah Fawcet Majors?

Yeah, I'd bet money that at least two of these has 'Mae' as a middle name.

catlover7777 · 12/09/2017 20:13

Just saw @Dahlietta, a lot of the names at the bottom are nice names, DS1 has a name that was 3 or 4 kids per year for ages but has gained in popularity a little recently (though it's always been Jack level popular in DPs home country) - but some are more... interesting.

Dahlietta · 12/09/2017 20:59

Thank you, catlover, it's not too 'interesting' I promise! I didn't make it up Wink

differenteverytime · 12/09/2017 21:06

My brother's dc has a name that SIL thought she'd made up, until DN started school and there was a child a few years above with the same name Grin. (It is a very nice and uncringey name - just a variant of a name from SIL's home country.)

TheVoiceOfTreason · 12/09/2017 21:39

Just had to stop reading the Balonz thread because I was laughing so hard I think I was making the sofa shake and distracting my husband.

Did the OP ever say what her original and unique baby name idea was?

Fekko · 13/09/2017 07:17

I once worked with a young woman who was very proud to tell us that her dad had specially made her name up for her. He hadn't - unusual but not unheard of. I wonder when she found out?

hollyisalovelyname · 13/09/2017 07:19

TheVoice
Apparently it is Farrah.

TeaRota · 13/09/2017 20:53

Can someone please link to the Balonz thread? I need a laugh.

ineedmorethanthis · 13/09/2017 21:18

Can't link but it has been posted on this thread on 9/9 at 20.21 by pickled gerkins

WellThisIsShit · 15/09/2017 17:02

Oh dear, poor op.

If it was Farrah she might be hiding under a rock somewhere and if it isn't... she's probably also hiding under a rock as she can't prove it's not Farrah without revealing the real name which she said she doesn't want to do! What a conundrum.
