AIBU- Someone has used my unusual baby name

MmmmDonuts · 09/09/2017 20:32

I wanted my baby to have a one of a kind unique name.
I made up a name that I love. It's definetly never been used before.
(I realise this sounds dodgy already)

Anyway, my baby is 7 months old and someone in my town has just given birth and used the name.
I actually feel really gutted about it.

I realise I am about to be flamed in the comments.
BUt how can I feel less gutted about this? Meh

you do realise that with only 7 months between them it is possible that your baby and copycat baby will end up in the same school, even in the same class.

Oh if only I had a time machine ..........fast forward to the end of the decade.
"Just got the class list for my new class today, so need to share this gem with my MN chums who I know love a younique name story. Or as it turns out a not very younique name"

Sorry OP, a tip for next time, just refer to your next child by its special name initial, or X if you want to be very secretive and private.

pollywollydoodle · 10/09/2017 13:05

Please let it be Cumberbatch ...

ConsiceandNice · 10/09/2017 13:09

I can't think of Farrahs without thinking of those hideous trousers that all the cool boys wore in the 80s.

Why anyone would think they made up the name Farrah is beyond me.

gunsandbanjos · 10/09/2017 13:11

Come back OP!

WhirlingTurkey · 10/09/2017 13:17

FFS, I hate these threads when OP doesn't return. YABU for that alone OP.

Also, you are a bit of an idiot if you really believe that you have made up a completely unique baby name. Confused

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 10/09/2017 13:24

Laughing at the fact she wouldn't tell the name on hybrid thread to create begging and wonder but openly gives the name on the other thread!
I was expecting some spectacular name and we got farrah wtf?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/09/2017 13:53

Farrah is gorgeous. Adds to list.
If that's OK, with you op. Wink

whoareyou123 · 10/09/2017 13:56

insancerre about 20 years ago my boss always referred to his stepson as Spike. I originally assumed it was a nickname but it wasn't. So unless he's changed his name there is a 20+ year old Spike out there somewhere.

hollyisalovelyname · 10/09/2017 14:00

Oysterbabe
Thank you. I thought I was losing my mind as I couldn't see where she said the name on this thread Smile

IStoleThisUsername · 10/09/2017 14:04

I went to school with a Spike. He had a brother called Buster.

sashh · 10/09/2017 14:07

Jonquil?

I knew a Jonquil in the 1980s.

raisedbyguineapigs · 10/09/2017 14:09

My dad said he made up my name. Years later, thanks to the magic of Facebook, I realised it is quite a common Brazilian name. My dad spent a lot of time in South America when he was younger. He must have heard it then forgot about it and thought it was his own invention Grin

GrockleBocs · 10/09/2017 14:16

There have been > 2000 Farrahs registered in England & Wales.

TatterdemalionAspie · 10/09/2017 14:21

insancerre and whoareyou my friend's son is called Spike, name after Spike Milligan. It really suits him. Smile

TatterdemalionAspie · 10/09/2017 14:21

*named

onecrazycook · 10/09/2017 14:48

I used to teach a child called Tarja Brown. I always thought it sounded like a shade of fence paint

LittleLionMansMummy · 10/09/2017 15:01

Farrah is a lovely name. There was a very beautiful Asian girl in my school 25 years ago who was called Farrah.

Beeziekn33ze · 10/09/2017 15:08

I think I want to have a baby named Keenwey! Too much like big sister Keenwa maybe? Why do people keep misspelling her name Quinoa anyway?

Sayyouwill · 10/09/2017 15:15

OP please come back :(

Beeziekn33ze · 10/09/2017 15:33

I don't think OP ever revealed her choice of middle name for baby Farrah on the other thread. Farran is a lovely name and not especially uncommon.

steff13 · 10/09/2017 16:21

Of course in the first thread OP hadn't registered the birth yet so it might not be that name at all...

True, but in that thread she said she had to register the name on Thursday, the thread was created on a Tuesday. If they were set on Farrah, it's unlikely they would have changed over the next two days.

Oysterbabe · 10/09/2017 16:24

If she'd gone with something else she'd have been back by now.

buckeejit · 10/09/2017 20:14

I know a few Farrahs, its a nice enough name but there's no way anyone could think they've invented it surely-it's in the books!

MadMags · 10/09/2017 20:16

There's a Farrah in my dd's class at school. Year 4.

3EyedRaven · 10/09/2017 22:06

A PP has it bang on... she was watching Mo Farrah and thought 'ooh, Farrah, that looks pretty!'
