To take 15 balls of wool on holiday?

MOIST · 07/09/2017 18:35

I could leave half of them behind but they'd be sad. And I might need them.

But is 15 too many? I could leave some clothes behind to make room for them?

YANBU. Well known bad season for moths too. They'll be safer with you

Aph413 · 07/09/2017 18:36

I'd take all your wool just in case Grin. Do you knit or crochet?

Liadain · 07/09/2017 18:37

Yanbu. Bonus points if you bring tiny sunglasses and hats. Wouldn't want the wool to not have sun protection.

MOIST · 07/09/2017 18:38

Crochet. It's the attic24 moorland blanket pack. I've been banned from crochet until my bastard essay was done but now it is so I can get on with it.

You'll regret it if you don't Grin

I only took 300g away with me for a fortnight - I'm still recovering from the trauma of having nothing to do after a week and I'm waaaay behind on the project that I used them for.

Gilead · 07/09/2017 18:40

The blanket is beautiful and you will need the whole pack because you're bound to do more when you're on holiday than was suggested in the original CAL!

Aph413 · 07/09/2017 18:40

I got that pack for Christmas. Obviously you need to take it all with you. Who needs clothes. And since I forgot before YANBU

SeptemberWhenItComes · 07/09/2017 18:45

If I knew you in RL and knew that you'd left some balls of wool attended while you went off on holiday, I'd have no choice but to raise with social services (possibly via 101) as a wool safeguarding issue.

And really, taking some wool balls and leaving some behind - how mean are you? Way to foster wooly rivalry. Are they your step wool children?

I feel sort for your wool.

SeptemberWhenItComes · 07/09/2017 18:46

I feel sorry for your wool, even

Glumglowworm · 07/09/2017 18:53

Yadnbu of course the wool needs to go on holiday!

oldlaundbooth · 07/09/2017 18:54

Where are you going? Arran?

MOIST · 07/09/2017 18:54

See. I knew I wasn't unreasonable. But with pressures from social media and H disapproving I wouldn't see the yarn for the sheep.
I'll LTB and use his baggage allowance for a little extra.

That is a shocking way to describe your in laws hijacking your holiday

Pumperthepumper · 07/09/2017 19:00

I was hoping to take mine on holiday but the wool shop has messed me around so much that I had to ask for a refund today and now won't have it for going away 😢

Seeingadistance · 07/09/2017 19:00

I brought 30 balls of wool back from my holiday this year! Icelandic wool from Iceland - would have been rude not to!

Yes, take it and enjoy. That's a beautiful blanket.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 07/09/2017 19:01

Ooh I did that blanket, it's fab Smile

Depending on how fast you crochet, if you look on the pattern the colours start off in the browns and greens and move onto purples and blues as it develops, so you could possibly get away with only taking 5 or 6 colours (maybe 7 or 8 to be sure Wink )

Last time I went away I took a multi-coloured yarn cake so technically it was only one ball Grin

KnitFastDieWarm · 07/09/2017 19:04

Where are you going? Don't forget to leave yarn purchase room Wink
DH has learnt not to comment on how much case space my travel knitting take up...

PuffinNose · 07/09/2017 19:05

That's what extra luggage allowamce is for.

Threenme · 07/09/2017 19:05

I love thisGrin

PuffinNose · 07/09/2017 19:07

Apparently some people have had issues with crochet hooks etc in hand luggage so if you're planning to do it on the plan, don't pack your favourite hook/embroidary scissors.
I've never had issues personally.

oldlaundbooth · 07/09/2017 19:07

OMG knitfastdiewarm I thought of you when I clicked in this thread!

I'm not a stalker honestly I just love your username.

CrochetBelle · 07/09/2017 19:07

I am already having this dilemma about our first holiday abroad next month. Take as many as you can!

Wolfiefan · 07/09/2017 19:08

If you leave some colours behind they will feel left out. And parts of your blanket will have done more miles than the rest. Bad. Very bad.
Take the wool.

CraftyYankee · 07/09/2017 19:09

Knit I love your username!
Just googled the blanket...drooling over the yarn colors...really you must take them all with you, how could you possibly choose what to leave behind?

bookbook · 07/09/2017 19:11

You just need to stuff as many balls into pockets of a gamekeeper coat , and wear it.
No-one will notice
I took very little away with me last year , and had to buy some while away....
