HowDoYouFeelNow, I know what you mean, these threads are keeping me far more up to date than any of the news outlets. Right now I'm torn between wanting to start prepping and stockpiling booze and chocolate to give myself a good send-off when it all goes to shite!

I'm not sure about prepping. If things do go post-apocalytically bad, I think having a family kool-aid supping session might be best.

I think weed and whiskey works for both options, also excellent bartering value in a post apocalyptic civilization. Can't go wrong really

DH is off work today, we've spent a few hours discussing what low level prepper stuff we should be doing/thinking of doing... cash, water, fuel and non perishable foods are our main conclusions (and don't live anywhere that's likely to be bombed, a kind of difficult thing to second guess). I can't have a nuclear war for at least another two weeks. I'm travelling for work and would hate to be stranded in a nuclear winter away from DS.

I don't 'think' Mattis will go nuclear unless he has absolutely no other option.

"Going nuclear" is used so frequently these days that it doesn't seem as bad as it actually is.

We need to start worrying when Trump heads to Cheyenne Mountain. Unless Mattis could lure him there... Hmmm.

Absentminded- in our case (living in fairly rural Scotland), we are more thinking civil unrest and/or collapse of financial institutions after a limited nuclear exchange.
These days most people (including us) pay for almost everything by electronic means. We've decided it's probably a good idea to have some actual cash stashed for emergency use.
Fortunately we can afford to do that, I realise many people don't have that option.

I hadn't thought about stock piling other than our usual what if we get a power cut kit. But if they can hang on for a bit, I have lots of sloes in the freezer, just need to buy the gin. I also have about a billion apples picked.
Maybe I will make sure we have a bit of cash in the house. Just in case.
