This pisses me off!! Just because this isn't classed as a "real" cigarette AIBU to be pissed off when vaping around my babies. Or in any private places such as restaurants, pubs etc.

Ive been to two weddings where a couple where even vaping in CHURCH!!!
And then my niece was making her 1st holy communion and the lady in front was vaping...

I have seen no clinical evidence to suggest its safe.So in the mean time id wish the minority who do it would piss off.

No we don't like it in Scotland 😎

FlandersRocks · 02/09/2017 16:01

Would you smoke next to a person or child, nah. So why vape

You just as well say 'Would you smoke next to a person or child, nah. So why chew chewing gum?'

Smoking and vaping are different activities. Different. Completely. That's why.

CosmoSmallpiece · 02/09/2017 16:04

Vaping does not fall under Scotland's smoke free public spaces legislation. No different from the rest of the U.K.. Entirely up to individual businesses/premises what they do about them. Main reason is there's no smoke.

FruitCider · 02/09/2017 16:48

My vape and I really couldn't care less about the moaning! I have manage to give up a deadly habit that I became addicted to as a 13 year old child and haven't had a cigarette for 5 years!

I'm glad people can't smoke in pubs and restaurants anymore but Jeeez, people gave up smoking indoors with a huge fuss and some took up vaping and now everyone else is moaning their tits off about that too.
Most places don't allow vaping indoors now anyway and obvs vaping in church is as tacky as farting in church.
I can't stand the smell of a lot of perfumes but they won't poison me.
Nor will a vape as someone said upthread, it's vapour, it travels inches and disperses.

Go Police the petrol industry who poison our kids far more than any vape.

SoNouveau · 02/09/2017 17:02

FFS, without a huge fuss.

Orangebird69 · 02/09/2017 17:56

some pubs and restaurants Nouveau. Plenty of pubs and restaurants allow them still.

OhOfCourse · 02/09/2017 18:05

I'm with you OP. I HATE vaping. Just because it's healthier than smoking - I DONT CARE because I don't smoke.

The vaping smoke really gets in my chest and I find it difficult to breathe around vapers. Think the smoking ban should apply to vapers too.

Orangebird69 · 02/09/2017 18:18

What is it that gets to your chest ohofcourse?

FruitCider · 02/09/2017 18:39

How on earth do you cope with smoke machines then? Have you never been to a night club or a play? It's the same stuff.... there's no smoke in it!

SoNouveau · 02/09/2017 18:46

The vaping smoke isn't smoke, it's vapour, water vapour, although there are other chemicals in it that flavour it and it's certainly nothing like inhaling second hand cigarette smoke.
I find certain scents bother me but if someone stinks of a scent I don't care for I move away, as I would do if someone was vaping next to me and I didn't like the smell of the flavour they were smoking.

orangebird I have yet to find a restaurant or pub that allows vapes but concede there may be some.

SoNouveau · 02/09/2017 18:49

Oh I just re read my earlier post orangebird, I did say most places don't allow vaping indoors now anyway, not everywhere so obviously I was allowing for the fact that some still do although I haven't come across any.

PickAChew · 02/09/2017 18:54

There was a woman vaping on a bus we were on, earlier. It's not like she'd gone hours without, as she'd only just sat down. Then she allowed the child she was with "just a little taste"Hmm

OhOfCourse · 02/09/2017 20:05

@Orangebird69 the vape smoke

@FruitCider I can't say that I'm around smoke machines! Lol. Is that a regular occurrence for you?

FruitCider · 02/09/2017 21:38

@FruitCider I can't say that I'm around smoke machines! Lol. Is that a regular occurrence for you?

No, but most people have experienced one!

OhOfCourse · 02/09/2017 21:57

@FruitCider yes but you're not constantly next to one. Many of my co-workers vape in the office and I honestly do hate it.

Threenme · 02/09/2017 22:10

I've never even tried smoking as I just found it too disgusting and I consider myself lucky it looks really hard work to stop. Vaping doesn't bother me at all, no does people vaping near my kids as it's not remotely harmful. My kids aren't daft, their daddy smokes, obviously not near them, in house, car etc but they know and say 'that's dirty' which is what I've told them and dh confirms to them. He's explained that he started, can't stop and you shouldn't do it. I think whether you hide smoking or vaping from your kids you are very lucky if you get one who won't change it.

Threenme · 02/09/2017 22:11

Try*

TeachesOfPeaches · 02/09/2017 22:30

The plume of vape is horrendous. It's huge and gets right in my face and stinks of some horrid artificial sweet smell.

TeachesOfPeaches · 02/09/2017 22:32

And it looks stupid.

TittyGolightly · 02/09/2017 22:36

And for those places that don't allow it, including work, I vape when using the toilet shock as do many others I know.

You'd set off the smoke alarms where I work. Which would mean the evacuation of 500+ staff and huge charges from the fire brigade. You'd then be found (cameras in the area outside the toilets and that scent you'd have left behind) and the fire brigade costs deducted from your wages.

TittyGolightly · 02/09/2017 22:36

As well as a disciplinary on your record.

Ginmakesitallok · 02/09/2017 22:38

Oh fuck off.

PollyFlint · 02/09/2017 22:44

The vaping smoke really gets in my chest

Hahahaha.

OhOfCourse, It isn't smoke. It's water vapour, i.e. steam.

If you can breathe when the kettle's boiling or when you're having a shower, you can breathe when someone's vaping. It's exactly the same substance. If vape causes you a breathing problem, that problem is entirely psychosomatic.

TittyGolightly · 02/09/2017 22:47

I'll remember for years to come the look on the face of the 6'4" brick shithouse last offender, who stood outside vaping away having been evacuated when the fire officer put his hand on his shoulder and said (loudly) to his colleague "did you say it smelled of CANDY FLOSS in there?"

Priceless.
