This pisses me off!! Just because this isn't classed as a "real" cigarette AIBU to be pissed off when vaping around my babies. Or in any private places such as restaurants, pubs etc.

Ive been to two weddings where a couple where even vaping in CHURCH!!!
And then my niece was making her 1st holy communion and the lady in front was vaping...

I have seen no clinical evidence to suggest its safe.So in the mean time id wish the minority who do it would piss off.

Tronald, vaping isn't smoking. It's ignorant to think that.

AnnetteCurtains · 02/09/2017 13:15

It's down to people not knowing how to behave , like the thread about children using scooters in shops
You just don't vape in a church

HashiAsLarry · 02/09/2017 13:15

A lot of places won't allow vaping where they don't allow smoking.
If you're concerned about being in a restaurant/other place that allows it then petition the management to change their rules.

Orangebird69 · 02/09/2017 13:17

Just search on MN for posts by PencilsInSpace - totally clued up on it all.

ItsNachoCheese · 02/09/2017 13:19

I got called precious because i wouldnt let my dsis vape in my car when she was going to drive it. She wanted my 2yo ds in the passenger seat and i point blank refused. I dont smoke or vape but have no qualms what she does in her own house or car but its not happening in mine

SerfTerf · 02/09/2017 13:22

Agree Annette. Vaping in church and scooters in shops are both tacky, inappropriate, inconsiderate behaviours.

Maybe you're correct that it's due to people "not knowing how to behave".

What's more peculiar though, is people "not knowing how to think" and starting blanket rants against scooters, or vaping....., or whatever it is this week.

LuLuuuuuuu · 02/09/2017 13:22

Fuck Me the amount of you who class vaping as bad .

Just be grateful none of YOU fell into the addiction that smoking is

Oh and stop being so fucking PRECIOUS . Diesel fumes, car exhausts , all occur near your snowflakes too !! Jesus Christ !!

Slarti · 02/09/2017 13:24

your not allowed to smoke in certain places so why on earth would think its OK to vape there.

Because it's not the same? Do you think people shouldn't be allowed to drink soft drinks in places where alcohol is banned? Because that's how irrational you are being.

EddChinasVagina · 02/09/2017 13:27

Idk why the non-smoking/non-vaping community can't accept that vaping is the lesser of two evils and therefore just look the other way, but it seems that we have to be vilified even when we're trying to improve.

Copperspot · 02/09/2017 13:32

I have been vaping for 3 years, i used to smoke 20 a day and haven't had a single cigarette since i started vaping. I dont have a massive cloud producing vape, and vape menthol liquid so not a sickly sweet flavour.

I still only vape where i would smoke. I go outside, mainly so i can smell others smoke Grin and wouldn't dream of vaping in church / shops / other peoples houses. I do vape in my house and car and it doesn't smell at all.

My friends 5year old sees me vape and asked what it was. I just told her i used to smoke cigarettes, and this helped me stop and doesn't make me poorly like cigarettes.

I agree that some people don't behave appropriately, but thats the same for everything! I hate the trend for demonising vaping, i might as well bloody smoke...

TronaldDumpy · 02/09/2017 13:44

All you vapers please remember that for years we were told cigarettes were safe. Please remember not long ago we were all told diesel fuel was safe in terms of the environment.

Please remember all the other "safes" we've been told about over the years...thalidomide anyone ?

Vaping safe ???!

Blahblahboo · 02/09/2017 13:53

Vaping isn't harmful at all nor is tobacco. Tobacco actually has amazing health benefits. It is the burning of tobacco in the cigarette that is harmful and the man made chemicals that drys it out. It is also those chemicals that makes smoking addictive not the tobacco. Vaping is pure water vapor with tobacco so totally safe which means it should be allowed most anywhere in my opinion, except on a plane just because it is so cramped a space with poor air quality as standard.

Blahblahboo · 02/09/2017 13:54

I don't smoke or vape btw but I know a few Vapers and smokers

OrphanAccount · 02/09/2017 13:55

I'm a non smoker and hate the smell of cigarette smoke. Vaping doesn't bother me at all though. Most of them actually smell quite pleasant.

Jux · 02/09/2017 14:11

There is no vape that smells as bad as that awful perfume of the 80s (?) Tudor Rose. Or as bad as Poison, or....... well many many perfumes.

enceladus · 02/09/2017 14:14

steadily backtracking OP, use google scholar, plenty of research papers on there, did you even try or did you just come here for a rant?

NotACleverName · 02/09/2017 14:19

Fuck me, another anti-vaping thread? I suppose with the change of seasons and schools going back the omg a dog looked at my DC threads will be dying down.

CosmoSmallpiece · 02/09/2017 14:23

Here's the latest press release from Cancer Research UK, they were initially sceptical about ecigs. As for banning vaping where smoking is banned, the smoking ban was introduced to prevent the effects of passive smoking. There is no evidence that ecig vapour is in any way harmful to bystanders. You can't ban something just because some people don't like it, but if a business or public place wishes to place restrictions on vaping they are encouraged to make sure they are doing it for good reason not just cos it's annoying to some.

😂

ChelleDawg2020 · 02/09/2017 14:39

It's up to businesses as to whether they allow vaping or not. If you don't like it, speak to a member of staff to find what the rules are for the establishment in question. If they allow it and you have a problem with it, you can go elsewhere.

Ollivander84 · 02/09/2017 14:46

See do you want smoking around children? No? Then you need to support vaping as a means of quitting
Imagine I've quit a 30 a day habit and I'm sitting on a bench vaping. People walk past me tutting, coughing, commenting it stinks, God those vapes are so unhealthy. Meanwhile I'm thinking fuck it, I'll go back to smoking. At least nobody commented when I smoked

My local pub allows vaping so I'll do it in there. And outside on the street, and anywhere else it's allowed. I wouldn't vape in church

Orphan I'm the same it doesn't bother me whereas smoking would. I didn't realise until I read this that it even had a smell. One of builders was vaping a few years ago and I never noticed a smell in the house.

I was disgusted to see someone chewing gum in church, one at a funeral and one at a wedding but I'm an old fogey... mutter mutter...
