To ask what your dream car is?

I'm bored and dreaming about being ridiculously rich able to afford a Bugatti Chiron so I thought I'd ask what everyone else's dream car is to distract myself.

i'll have a Lehel Predator.

A van?

I really don't get it. The cost of that van could build a school in a disadvantaged area.

Cailleach666 · 28/08/2017 07:08

Rhubarbginisnotasin

I hate vulgar displays too. Smacks of insecurity.

Valuedopinion · 28/08/2017 07:17

Rhubarbginisnotasin, I know, it was going quite well until someone felt the need to tell us how well off they are and how much savings they had but their car is worth £400 Grin.

How insecure of them. I would never feel the need to talk about my net worth by way of justifying the old banger on my drive.

flickertee · 28/08/2017 08:17

Valued. Terrible isn't it. Personally, I'd be so sad if I only had ten times my salary worth of savings. That way we wouldn't be able to afford the Bentayga that's coming next month. Or the continental GT that's in the garage. Or the S class cabriolet that's next to it.

Seriously, the hint is in the thread title. Don't bother opening it if you're going to pooh pooh the idea of a dream car with your talk of £400 bangers

Im so vulgar it makes me itch!

cowgirlsareforever · 28/08/2017 08:31

I have loved googling these cars! They are spectacular. For the time being we have to make do with the best car available on the Motobility scheme but one day, we'll have one of these dream cars!

Coastalcommand · 28/08/2017 08:37

Land Rover Defender.

bungaloid · 28/08/2017 08:47

My worry with a car too nice is some plonker will still boink their car door into it, even if I stick to naice Waitrose car parks.

Runningyogabooze · 28/08/2017 08:48

I would like a brand new, super hi spec Golf, but with any signs that it is high spec removed so no-one nicks it.

LOVE Golfs - have had several and they go on and on and on...

bungaloid · 28/08/2017 08:51

Lots of mentions of Golfs and Range Rovers. C'mon you can dream bigger than that!

Totallyattheendofmyrope · 28/08/2017 08:58

We just picked up a tesla s this week and it's brilliant.
Don't worry about electric cars outdating though as someone said upthread^^
It's like driving a giant I pod , it updates itself regularly as it has all the technology onboard to do so. So every time tesla come up with some brilliant new initiatives that my car didn't have when I purchased it- it gets sent to my car.

Dh has had so much fun with it, he's been showing off to all the neighbours getting the engine to start and drive to him while he's stood on the driveGrin

It wasn't so funny the other day in the pub car park when I got in first and he drove the car around the car park with me in the passenger side and him sat on the grass while everyone was laughing.

megletthesecond · 28/08/2017 08:59

Unrealistic - land rover defender.
Realistic and maybe in a few years - Skoda Yeti.

Firesuit · 28/08/2017 09:40

I saw the Jaguar SUV yesterday, it's not bad looking. But I think that and any Range Rover need to be ruled out as to wide. Would be stressful taking through width restrictions, e.g. entrance to Rotherhithe tunnel. (Although maybe 360 degree cameras would solve that?)

lucydogz · 28/08/2017 09:43

a figaro. I had one for 5 years, and still miss it

Notmynom · 28/08/2017 09:53

Lamborghini Aventador in bright green. I love vulgar cars.

ButterflyFree · 28/08/2017 10:17

@Firesuit Yes the 360 cameras and sensors would definitely put one's mind at ease. I actually find the Range Rover easier to drive, park, and fit through awkward spaces than the Mini and Fiat 500 I've driven before! I have to negotiate a very tight and tricky turn to enter the underground parking where I live, and can always do it in one go with the Range Rover, whereas other residents with smaller cars (but I presume less in-car technology) often take several attempts at manoeuvring so as to avoid scraping the pillars on the turn.

amazonEcho · 28/08/2017 10:40

I'm lucky enough to have owned a FEW of my dream cars.

Have a Range Rover Vogue, a Ford F150 pick up and a little Golf. In the past have had a BMW M6 and an RS4.

I'd love a Sierra Cosworth or Golf GTI (MKII).

The car I'd swap my family for? 1975 930 Turbo.

I've my Class B licence so am a fair driver but the problem with any kind of modern 'dream' car like a Ferrari means you either spend the time pootling along with the computers not letting you do anything stupid or you wrap it around a tree.

80s-90s hot hatches have enough power to have fun and let you find the limits without needing to have the reactions of an F1 driver.

Sadly, we're likely to stick with Volvos, Range Rovers etc for the rest of our driving years. Comfort and the torque of a large diesel. Maybe a Merc S500 is 60 year old me's dream car?

To ask what your dream car is?
LadySpratt · 28/08/2017 12:17

Rolls Royccr wraith black badge.
Just for me.

LadySpratt · 28/08/2017 12:18

Royce, damn it

whyareusernamessodifficult · 28/08/2017 13:19

MakeIt I realise it's not really sensible for British roads but the only 8 seaters I can find in the uk are mini vans and I hate them Sad
I did drive an old 500 SEL for a while and that was only 3 inches shorter and about 5 inches less wide than the Expedition so I know I can deal with the size.
It's just the fuel guzzling that's not ideal.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 28/08/2017 13:42

A brand new mini maxi Grin

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/08/2017 13:55

A Corvette Stingray. We had one on holiday a few years ago and it was amazing.

MakeItStopNeville · 28/08/2017 13:56

Whyare don't get me wrong, I loved mine. It was a true packhorse with all my kids. But it only did 13mpg and that was with US cheap petrol prices!

CommanderShepard · 28/08/2017 14:03

Tesla Model X please. Costs more than a flat where I grew up though.

whyareusernamessodifficult · 28/08/2017 14:04

MakeIt the 2018 model's supposed to do 15-21mpg.
I'll wait til that comes out and maybe find something more sensible between now and then.
