To ask what your dream car is?

I'm bored and dreaming about being ridiculously rich able to afford a Bugatti Chiron so I thought I'd ask what everyone else's dream car is to distract myself.

a 1965 Ford mustang with pony leather (nothing to do with horse skin - means there are embossed mustangs on the seats). White, red leather interior. Electric hood.

a 1956 Ford t-bird. I'd like a baby blue one please.

Something like a Civic Type R or Focus RS. Fast and practical.

If I lived somewhere different, Range Rover. Excellent all-rounder. I just wouldn't much like driving something that large where I live now.

9GreenBottles · 26/08/2017 22:14

Waiting to see the new Jaguar E Pace but I could be tempted back to a Golf for day to day.

Aston Martin Vantage in Meteorite Silver for special though Grin

Argeles · 26/08/2017 22:16

A stretch limousine with tinted windows, mini fridge, table, tv etc - complete with a uniformed chauffeur.

CanIBuffalo · 26/08/2017 22:21

Our fun wagon people carrier from when the DCs were younger. We didn't have the cash to keep repairing it at the time. I'd love to buy it back and do it up but I expect it's been scrapped.

sharklovers · 26/08/2017 22:25

A 2016 model v12 audi r8 sport

A what?

DeadDoorpost · 26/08/2017 22:28

Jaguar XKR convertible. Dark blue. Preferably a 3.1 litre engine or something. Wanted one for so long I was so happy when I got to actually sit in one at a car show. Even set the alarm off by accident and made them laugh.

GrouchyKiwi · 26/08/2017 22:28

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione (it's so beautiful) or a 1992 model Dodge Viper.

More sensibly, I'd quite like a shiny new Ford Mondeo for the family, or an Alfa Romeo Giulietta for me.

Aston Martin Vantage 1970ish.

Current car's a 2001 Jag XJR.

abbey44 · 26/08/2017 22:38

Actually, it's the car I have sitting on the drive....a 2009 Mercedes CLK convertible. I bought it as an ex-demo in June 2009 and I absolutely love it. It's an unusual colour (sort of bronze, with a cream leather interior) and, as a demonstrator, has every extra you can think of. All the toys you could want.

I've regularly had enquiries from my Merc dealer about whether I want to sell it, but I don't. I haven't seen a car yet that I'd want to swap it for, I love it that much.

indulgentberries · 26/08/2017 22:39

A Morgan. I've been in a Jensen interceptor, they are very uncomfortable.
Realistically, one with back doors and a huge boot with room for dogs.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 26/08/2017 22:40

I may be a little on my own here, but my current dream car is the Tesla Model X P100D. Practical car for the whole family, tows the horsebox and is environmentally friendly. Sounds boring, but it also does 0-60 in 2.9 sec with no lag and no gear changes. Properly knocks your head off (I was fortunate enough to be driven in one earlier this week!). Total Tesla convert.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 26/08/2017 22:45

Funnily enough I had this conversation with ds (aged 19) a few days ago. I asked him what he'd buy if he could spend up to £40k on a car, either new or second hand, and he said he'd buy..... a Ford Mondeo. Possibly one of the most boring cars ever.

BikeRunSki · 26/08/2017 22:46

E type for me too, dark red, because they are beautiful. Otherwise, I am rather fond on my Golf (Tdi estate, company car).

I have a relative who started saving up for a Morgan at 17; 2 wives and 3 dc later, he got one, aged 63.

MiniTheMinx · 26/08/2017 22:48

AC Cobra, don't even mind if it's kit built. Now I drive a 1989 3l 3 series BMW convertible which is very cute.

LinoleumBlownapart · 26/08/2017 22:48

1977 blue landrover, a 1969 silver Aston Martin or a 1965 white convertible Triumph Vitesse. I like classic cars.

BoysofMelody · 26/08/2017 22:51

Citroen DS, in this shade of yellow. A rich kid

As for something I'd one day be able to afford. I really like my ancient Corolla and wouldn't want anything else til it went to the scrapyard in the sky.

I want an electric plug -in car! Would suit me well as I do lots of short journeys, never go very far and have solar PV at home where the car would be parked most of the day. Waiting for them to come down in price. Until then it's petrol...

BoysofMelody · 26/08/2017 22:51

This DS

Used, low mileage Nissan Leafs are quite affordable, a very good one can be had for under 8k.

whyareusernamessodifficult · 26/08/2017 22:55

That's amazingly sensible for a teenager Usedtobe.
They do have the exact same engine as the Jaguar XE and XJ though.

BabychamSocialist · 26/08/2017 22:58

My proper proper dream car (as in, never gonna happen) is a Lotus Elan S3 like Emma Peel out of the Avengers. Either that or a Jaguar E-Type.

More realistically, I'll be part-exing my current car (Honda Jazz) for a Mini Cooper next year, which I've always wanted.

whyareusernamessodifficult · 26/08/2017 23:01

Lucky thing Mini!
I'm at the moment also lusting after a 1980s 5 series that's been sitting behind a hotel near where I live for years but it's an absolute state and I wouldn't have time to fix it up at the moment.
I'm tempted to ask if it's for sale everytime I pass by it Sad

Cobra
VW Campervan
Hot Rod
Classic Mini

My aspirations aren't fancy!
