To ask what your dream car is?

I'm bored and dreaming about being ridiculously rich able to afford a Bugatti Chiron so I thought I'd ask what everyone else's dream car is to distract myself.

I really love range rovers. They drive much better on British roads (the word road being a bit of an exaggeration) than their rivals although I have been curious to try out the jaguar SUV. BMWs are also very comfy. Recently came across the new Bentley SUV but was not at all impress by the touring model that we tried so probably not. I do like the idea of off road driving (altogether though I haven't been for ages, hopefully that will change as dc get older).

steff13 · 27/08/2017 18:35

My realistic dream car is a Range Rover. I'll get one someday.

Montsti · 27/08/2017 18:52

I drive an Audi Q7 which I absolutely love...its perfect for me...I'm about to have my 4th and final child and it's big enough which is great. I don't often have all the kids in the car + a large pushchair but can by only using one of the seats in the 3rd row..for one of the 4 kids (other 3 in the 2nd row with car seats easily)...

I'm not much of a car enthusiast so don't have a dream car as such but maybe once the kids are much older/have their own car/s, I could get a cool sports car😊. That'll be a while though!

Herschellmum · 27/08/2017 18:54

Tesla

NinonDeLenclos · 27/08/2017 18:58

I hate flat low sports cars, they're really uncomfortable.

I'd probably have a Bentley if I were Kim Kardashian. My next door neighbour has one and it is cool.

Greyhorses · 27/08/2017 19:29

I really want a horsebox van...would take one of those over most cars!

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 27/08/2017 19:30

If you don't like vulgar displays of wealth you get a rusty pushbike, you don't get a 4 wheel drive and pretend you need to tow stuff

Not sure if that was a dig at me Lino, but the Mk5 Hilux is pretty old, so it's not exactly a status symbol, but I agree there's no point having a rugged offroader if you don't need one because otherwise they are just for show. My neighbour was a typical example; always out there polishing the chrome on his new and never used pick-up. I needed a pick-up when I lived in the country due to needing a towing vehicle that could also tow off road, plus do forestry. Definitely not for showing off. Got rid of it when I moved as no longer need it, and my little old car is more practical now.

Orangebird69 · 27/08/2017 19:34

I've got a 4x4 and don't tow, or pretend to tow anything. I just like them Confused

gettingbacktoresearch · 27/08/2017 19:36

Black Grand Cherokee with 4 wheel drive, chunky wheels, full media kit and blacked out windows :)

I've currently got a black Dodge Caliber so am working my way up :)

milliemolliemou · 27/08/2017 19:41

Hmm.

Unpractical
Morgan 4
Any Harley Davidson Tourer

Practical
Hilux. Love them.

Boysofmelody thanks for the tip, I'll have a look. My gut feeling is that there is so much development going on in the world of electric cars that the old ones will seem pretty inefficient very soon and that I would be better off waiting a few years. I even already have the electric charging point connected at home ( freebie from eco company who had to install a certain number) but no electric car!

CardsforKittens · 27/08/2017 22:25

TVR Tuscan.
But I'll never afford one. I currently drive an little old Ford.

trixymalixy · 27/08/2017 23:20

Here's one for the karmann ghia lovers. This is our 1958 karmann this convertible when it was still on the road, it doesn't look like this just now!!

I had a Range Rover at one point. I felt like a fucking twat driving it, I'm so much happier with my fiat 500.

A Jaguar xk120 roadster in royal blue

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 28/08/2017 00:35

If I won the lottery (which is the only way I'd get a car like this!) I'd get:

  1. An original E type jag in British racing green but fitted out with new engine, brakes, suspension etc.

  2. a fiat 500 or maybe a little VW for running about town in.

winglesspegasus · 28/08/2017 00:59

this e type since i was 10

Subaru Impreza WRX wagon. It's parked on my drive and is the fastest wagon of its class in the world 😊

EdinaMonsoon · 28/08/2017 03:45

Absolute fantasy car would be the Aston Martin DB5. I know nothing about cars but fell in love with this after seeing the Bond in Motion exhibition.

Just recently bought a Porsche Cayenne Sport which drives beautifully but has some seriously wanky "optional extras" added by the original owner which make me cringe...why does anyone need the car's logo projected from the base of the door when you open it 🤔🙄.

MakeItStopNeville · 28/08/2017 03:55

OP, do you live in the UK? If so, an Expedition is a terrible idea. There isn't a car park space in the whole country it will fit in and they drink gas like I drink wine!

LakieLady · 28/08/2017 04:00

A Morgan Classic roadster, with luggage rack on the back of course!

What colour would you have, 50Shades?

I think I'd go for the yellow, the red and the green are a bit too commonplace, and the yellow looks so jolly.

That would be my second choice though, for if I couldn't find my dream Jaguar XK120 roadster.

DoctorTwo · 28/08/2017 05:15

Realisticly; what I have now, a Rover 45.
Next step up, Mini Cooper S Clubman, the fastest car I've driven plus great mpg.

Dream car: Mclaren F1

Cailleach666 · 28/08/2017 06:52

Sorry but I don't get it.
OH and I own a large house, no mortgage. We have 10 years worth of income in savings, we both work.
My car is worth £400. A 14 year old Renault. Drives well. OH has a similar car. They work for us. We could easily afford to buy a large fancy car without a dent in our savings. We choose not to.

FlyingElbows · 28/08/2017 06:59

How lovely for you, Cailleach.

I'll have a Lehel Predator.

ButterflyFree · 28/08/2017 07:01

I feel very lucky that I've now had my dream car for just a year; a new Range Rover Vogue supercharged. It's just so majestic to drive; there's nothing else like it. I had a 2014 Range Rover Sport before the Vogue but they just can't be compared.

DH has a 2016 Mercedes S63 coupé which was also a dream car of mine when it was first released. The interior is to die for 😍

But I suppose as you achieve one dream, a new - more distant/unrealistic - dream evolves. In which case my dream cars are now:

  • Rolls Royce Dawn
  • the new McLaren 720s (apparently faster than the P1, but they're trying to hide the fact...!)
  • Pagani Huayra (here's the interior if you've never seen it before... it's art)

I hate flashiness/vulgar displays of wealth

I love vulgar displays of wealth. The more vulgar the better

I hate pious judgements on other people's choice of car. Very hyacinth bouquet

But we did at least get to page 5 before someone couldn't help themselves. It think its a record.
