Male beauticians and waxing!!

Emboo19 · 25/08/2017 12:46

This is based on a friends experience, not mine and it's not so much a AIBU. But we've been discussing it at length and I'm interested in others thoughts.
So would you be ok with a male beautician doing intimate waxing? Would it depend on quite how intimate, so a bikini wax would be ok, but a all off not so much?

I'm not actually sure myself. A part of me thinks it's no different to a male doctor or nurse and I'd be fine with that. Definitely wouldn't have a problem with any other beauty treatments being done by a man, but waxing that invloves no underwear, I'm not sure!!

This thrwad is odd. Of course it's fine not to want a member of the opposite sex to touch you on/near an intimate area. Equally its fine for a business to refuse to offer customers a sex specific guarentee - you just move on and find one that does.

BertrandRussell · 26/08/2017 14:17

"If you're not my man I don't want you touching me down there"

Curiously, this sentence almost made me book my first ever bikini wax - stipulating that the waxer had to be a man.....Grin

MistressDeeCee · 26/08/2017 14:20

BertrandRussell go on then - & come back here with a full report please Grin

Heck no, it's not the same as medical staff, medical staff have years of training both medical and psychological but even so I won't see a male physio if I have to take my clothes off!
Let alone let a male therapist wax my ancient chubby private parts eek :-o

it's nhs policy to have a female chaperone present with a male OBGYN or similar.
Has it really?only one male doc has ever said to me he needed to get a female to be present during an examination. It suprised me, i'd have preferred the less people the better!

I find other women intimidating and bitchy. I feel much more comfortable around men
Yes, i've had problems with a few men, but more women!

gingergenius · 26/08/2017 15:22

@kali110 then I would suggest you talk to your HCP because it is policy now and has been for a while. Not sure what your point is???

CosmicPineapple · 26/08/2017 15:27

I had my first child 15 yo and had to have an internal exam by a male doctor. We had to wait until a female was free to chaparone.
I too am suprised you have had intimate exams by a male Dr with no female present kali.

gingergenius · 26/08/2017 15:28

@Circumlocutor you said it perfectly!

"No, I'm just rather selective about which men I show my fanny to"

Exactly this. And I'm fairly sure there are plenty of men out there who may feel uncomfortable about a female gp cupping their balks in an exam. I know my DS who'd rather be consumed by the flames of eternal hell than get his bits out in front of an adult woman - even if she was a gp. That's understandable and should be respected. There are a lot of GFs on this post!

kali110 · 26/08/2017 16:48

gingergenius
That i never knew it was policy, thought it was obvious?

CosmicPineapple
Yes, only one doctor At a walkin said he needed to get a female. Im really suprised to read its a policy and how long!

Mightybanhammer · 26/08/2017 17:14

The thought of having all the hair ripped off my foof by anyone, male or female, would cause me a problem.

Why do people have this done to themselves?Confused

JacquesHammer · 26/08/2017 17:17

Why do people have this done to themselves

Because we're adults who can all make their own choices?

For me it's because it's way more comfortable

CosmicPineapple · 26/08/2017 17:22

Why do people have this done to themselves

The only place I like hair is on my head Grin
Anywhere else and it annoys me. No idea why Confused

CatsAreAssholes · 26/08/2017 17:28

^for me it's because it's way more comfortable"
Grin sure it is.

Pretzeling yourself while a stranger pours hot wax on your taint is super relaxing.

JacquesHammer · 26/08/2017 17:34

@Cats

I lost all my hair through illness 3 years ago. It grew back coarse, curly and made me sore with severe eczema.

So maybe before you make comments actually assume I know what I am talking about with regards to my own pubic hair, there's a dear.

CatsAreAssholes · 26/08/2017 18:44

Pubes are coarse and curly, there's a dear. I'm sure ingrown hairs and wax don't affect your ezcema.

JacquesHammer · 26/08/2017 18:56

@cats they don't actually. I tried waxing first on the advice of my dermatologist.

The first time was hellish. Since then the 4ish weeks I have hair free means I can pretty much keep the eczema at bay. I don't have ingrown hairs as I treat the post-wax skin properly. The cooler wax works better for me.

My hair wasn't coarse before hair loss at all actually. I also have the same issue on my legs/armpits and sometimes on my forearms. If I don't remove the hair I can feel my skin getting itchy by day 3/4.

But hey. Clearly you know better about my own pubic region than me.

People like you really make me laugh 😂 "I don't know anything about you random person on the internet but I know more about your body than you do"

bananafish81 · 26/08/2017 18:57

Why do people have this done to themselves

Er, cos we like the result?

Cos it feels awesome to feel smooth down there?

And no I don't do it to please a man. DH actually preferred it when I didn't remove everything. But amazingly enough it's my body and he's happy to enjoy it however I choose to groom myself.

CatsAreAssholes · 26/08/2017 19:06

I'm sure Jaques you've got that rare ezcema that actually really handles wax strips being ripped from it as opposed to trimming the hair if necessary. And I'm sure you're not even the exception, as I've learned from these threads it's a total coincidence that women just fucking love ripping the hair off their vulvas in a way that previous generations never did and it's totally unrelated to porn or society's view of women. And that's why you assume people are talking about you when they wonder why women would do something that almost never medically necessary. Right?

Cos it feels awesome to feel smooth down there?
But not awesome on your head?

demirose87 · 26/08/2017 19:14

people get waxed because it's their body and they can do whatever the hell they like! I don't care for waxing myself, I'm not very hairy so a quick shave sorts me out but why the hell would anyone care that someone likes to be waxed.

JacquesHammer · 26/08/2017 19:18

Oh Cats bless you. 😂

If whatever is missing in your life you need to try and prove someone you don't know wrong you crack on you poor love.

Actuallly the eczema "handles it" because by removing the hair I don't have many outbreaks anymore. But quite sure Dr Internet-user knows more than the woman who has been treating my skin conditions for the past 3 years. 😂

CatsAreAssholes · 26/08/2017 19:19

people get waxed because it's their body and they can do whatever the hell they like!
Who said they couldn't? She just can't understand why someone would voluntarily cause themselves so much pain. I can say I enjoy smacking myself in the face but you'd probably wonder why.

BertrandRussell · 26/08/2017 19:25

And it is completely coincidental that women all decided completely independently in the 1990/2000s(ish) that they wanted to remove their pubic hair. Absolutely no outside influence at all?

When I was a young woman, we campaigned successfully against compulsory shaving in the labour ward. Now you get threads on here from women feeling ashamed and apologising to the midwife because they haven't been able to "tidy up"........

Mightybanhammer · 26/08/2017 19:34

The one time I removed my pubic hair I felt instantly ashamed and uncomfortable. And the grow back was anything other than pleasant.

We are meant to be hairy!
