To think that it IS rude?

A friend posted on facebook the other day about having a work man other who pooed in her loo without asking. The comments were all saying how rude and disgusting it was. Some even saying to report him or that they would have kicked him out. Anyway I mentioned it to a friend who didn't see the problem. But I do think that it's rude aswell so aibu or is it rude not to ask?!

Good grief, OP, serious issues there. I'm a bit disappointed in myself for reading all the way through this; I think I was just morbidly fascinated to find that there are people who make such an enormous fuss and go through immense angst about somebody using a toilet for the purpose for which it is intended. Your friend sounds unbearably precious, I'm surprised she copes with life day to day.

LemonRedwood · 24/08/2017 09:15

No, not everyone finds normal bodily functions embarrassing.

LemonRedwood · 24/08/2017 09:16

Also, I don't poo in public. I always shut the door.

longestlurkerever · 24/08/2017 09:17

People wouldn't normally march upstairs without asking where the loo is because it would involve opening all the doors looking for it, which would be a bit rude, but if it's obvious where the loo is (you're standing in the bathroom, for example), then it'd be weird to pop out say "can I use this loo?" and go back in.

Unacceptable. Ffs. I am not generally in strangers' houses so the need doesn't arise but honestly.

goldensyrupisshit · 24/08/2017 09:17

First question was he working in the bathroom ? If so I can see why he wouldn't ask.

If I have workmen working in the house all day, I tell them where the kettle and bathroom are and don't expect them to ask permission. I would be absolutely astonished if they specifically asked if they could do a poo. In the highly unlikely event that they did, I really can't see any circumstances where a reasonable person could say no.

OP, it does sometimes happen that you don't realise you need a poo until it, um, starts coming when you're already on the loo. What do you think a workman should do then? Should he push it back in and go and ask permission?

Dancingfairy · 24/08/2017 09:18

I must admit I do cringe at people who poo in public toilets. I only did once when heavily pregnant and absolutely desperate. I wouldn't do it normally. I also mutter to myself when I walk in a toilet and it's obvious someone has pooed.

she was the rude one.

Hi mr/Mrs work person.nice to meet you tea is here cups are in the cupboard loo is down the hall third door on the left.

Air freshener, toilet tissue, bleach etc (means to clean said loo should be in bathroom too)

If he or she leaves a mess, doesn't use air freshener and clear up after themselves they are also rude.

BlondeB83 · 24/08/2017 09:20

This thread is hilarious! I would have no issue with someone taking a dump in my swanky loo - when you've got to go, you've got to go. If I had work men/women in I might expect a "Is it ok if I use your loo?" the first time just so they weren't just heading in there but apart from that what are they expected to do?!

Dancingfairy · 24/08/2017 09:20

I had a man doing work on my barroom (the toilet is in a separate room but next to it) he still popped his head round the door and asked if it was ok to use the toilet. I don't know where the man was doing work in the woman's house she didn't say.

olderandnowiser · 24/08/2017 09:21

It happened to me a couple of years back. I was out at the time and came back to the smell from hell. I had to wear rubber gloves and a lot of bleach and hot water was also involved. I could get even more graphic but I am sure that you get the idea. That is why I found it disgusting.

krustykittens · 24/08/2017 09:23

I find it depressing that people consider others so beneath them that they are disgusted if they use their loo. People working all day in your house need to use the facilities. Poo smells. You and your mate need to get over yourselves. And you cringe at people who poo in public toilets?! I have IBS, OP, do you think people like me should never leave the house?!

LemonRedwood · 24/08/2017 09:24

Well, yes, leaving it in the toilet is grim and rude. But using someone's toilet in the first place? I cannot put that in the same category! Huge generalisations happening in that you are then assuming everyone who uses someone else's or a public toilet doesn't flush.

Some peoples poo can really stink and take ages for the smell to go, even with air freshner. Tbh knowing the friend I can imagine she really embarrassed him about it. She's the type the would spray air freshner whilst complaining loudly.

OP posts:
Dancingfairy · 24/08/2017 09:27

If I smell poo in public toilets I just think "oh god really?!" As I can't quite get people who are comfortable enough to do it. Or if someone takes to long in the toilet so it's obvious there pooing also makes me abit sick.

OP posts:
LemonRedwood · 24/08/2017 09:27

Then open a window as well?

Gromance02 · 24/08/2017 09:28

OP. I regularly have a dump in the toilets at work. Never thought anything of it. I can't imagine how uncomfortable you must be a lot of the time if you have such a phobia about one of the most normal things in the world.

LemonRedwood · 24/08/2017 09:29

Okay everyone, you must all stop pooing except in your own toilets, because Dancingfairy will feel a bit sick.

Confused
olderandnowiser · 24/08/2017 09:30

Actually, now I come to think of it, wee isn't all that innocent either. I don't think you have to be a workman to splatter wee, but you do have to be male.

Gileswithachainsaw · 24/08/2017 09:31

She's probably also one of those people who's toilets aren't set up for people to he able to use the toilet.

So bitches and moans people leave it dirty or don't change the loo roll except there's no way to clean the toilet and the loo roll is three floors down in the basement. And there won't be a bin either so you have to walk through the house clutching sanitary towels wrapped in loo paper desperately trying to find a bin you are allowed to use

ToEarlyForDecorations · 24/08/2017 09:31

It's a toilet. He didn't shit in her bread bin. Ridiculous nonsense.
