To not wash in the morning?

I start very early - usually before 7 - and often don't get back till about half nine so I shower then. Then in the morning I just put my uniform on and go. AIBU?

You didn't get up at 2am for your overnight shower? You must be smellier than Mr Smell who lives in Smelly Cottage, Stinky Street, Whiffton, Pongshire,Odourland, SM3 LLY

001 Grin

This thread is funny.

Get this mnetters. I didn't shower or bath at all yesterday. Dirty smelly cow that I am.

Apologies for making some of you keel over in shock.

CatsPurr · 20/08/2017 09:37

YANBU I shower when I start to itch, or I get a waft of BO, I like to preserve water ya see.

I last showered Friday. Not sure when the next one will be, the boilers broken.

Seriously though, no idea why people get so stressed about it. Unless you smell who knows when others have showered? I shower my day off, clean skin helps me sleep. When I wake I get up, clean teeth and wash face. Grin

Mumsnetters can get a bit cleaning obsessive. I suspect the answers would be very different if this was dadsnet.

5rivers7hills · 20/08/2017 09:43

@00100001 actually I can't stand it. I feel so gross. I'm going to scrub myself with bleach to try and get clean.

RallyRoundTheFlagBoys · 20/08/2017 09:53

If I wasn't going out that day then I wouldn't be worried about having showered the night before. But if I was going out I would have to shower as I would worry about feeling clean enough (which is different from actually being clean enough, if you understand what I am saying).

Being anxious about showering - the ultimate first world problem.

Gottagetmoving · 20/08/2017 10:10

When I was a child we had a bath once a week. My parents had a bath less often but washed daily at the bathroom sink. Not many people had a shower in their house and heating up water for baths cost money they couldn't afford.
It's lovely that today we do have economical showers so can shower daily, however, it isn't necessary if you prefer not to. I like to shower every morning so I do, but I don't feel horrified if others don't. It's very rare I come across anyone who smells bad so people must have at least good basic hygiene.
Don't tell people that not showering in the morning is bad or disgusting because it really isn't! It's just your preference if you do.
People can be so bloody fussy these days.

SomeOtherFuckers · 20/08/2017 10:21

I shower like twice a week ( thanKs eczema) people are c precious about showers - wash your armpits, make sure you smell ok and you're grand.

SomeOtherFuckers · 20/08/2017 10:22

Also @gunsandbanjos it takes 5 mins to shower ... and 40 to dry your hair

Natsku · 20/08/2017 10:26

Those who don't shower daily do you have a strip wash/flannel undercarriage each day in between?

I wash my bits with the bidet and, if needed, I wash my armpits with my hands and some handwash in the sink.

I went to sauna last night so got super clean (can't beat the clean feeling after sauna, definitely better than just a shower and much better than a bath) and its past midday here now, haven't got dressed or put on any deodorant but still don't smell bad, just stuck my nose in my armpit, smells like clean skin like when you've just bathed a baby.

Wimbles101 · 20/08/2017 10:26

Literally who cares - do it when you have the time - morning/night it's all the same. Can't believe people are getting precious about this - at least you're showering!

Having said that I've had au pairs and friends from Italy and Spain who have constantly been in the shower - to the extent I honestly thought they were depleting our hot water supply!😁😁😁

brasty · 20/08/2017 10:28

No, because unless I have exercised, I do shower after that, or it has been a hot day, I don't get sweaty.

itsbetterthanabox · 20/08/2017 11:07

Was thinking more the bum area? Because you'll have been using the loo and toilet paper doesn't make you fully clean.

5rivers7hills · 20/08/2017 11:16

@itsbetterthanabox but if your concern is other people smelling the 'bum area', well it is generally covered by two pieces of clothing as a minimum. Hard for this offensive smell to penetrate through clean pants and a pair of jeans! Unless you actually do have a smelly issue. But that is a minority of people.

Gottagetmoving · 20/08/2017 11:18

You don't have to have a shower to clean your bum.
Toilet paper is enough if you know how to wipe your bum and if not there are wipes.

BumWad · 20/08/2017 11:21

I'm a shower in the evening person too but always have a wash in the morning over the sink/brush my teeth etc

brasty · 20/08/2017 11:22

And anyone who does real physical work needs to shower before going to bed.

Cloudyapples · 20/08/2017 11:23

Night time showered here too - dp showers in the morn and takes bloomin years so I have no chance and much prefer the extra time in bed!

itsbetterthanabox · 20/08/2017 11:27

I didn't think other people would smell it lol. Most people don't put their face in your arse.
More that you wouldn't feel clean. No loo roll doesn't actually clean at all it just wipes off.
I'm not judging I just wondered if you also washed the area on the days you don't shower.

Birdsgottafly · 20/08/2017 11:40

"Being anxious about showering - the ultimate first world problem."

Every religion since time began has had daily (at least) bathing /cleaning rituals. I've travelled through North Africa, amongst different religions and worked with all religions and bathing is part of their self-respect and respect for others.

"I didn't think other people would smell it lol. Most people don't put their face in your arse. "

I've been in the toilet after other Women who say they don't wash of a morning and can smell them. People may not be offensive smelling if they don't wash, but they have a slight smell. Likewise, if you are sitting down and they have to squeeze past, so thigh to waist is in your nose line.

"Dh doesn't shower on earlies or he would wake the whole house!
He has one the night before and shaves in the morning. Even by the next night he still smells lovely!"

Because you like how he smells. We like how our children smell and don't smell our own homes. It isn't smelly, as such, but you don't smell fresh.

If you are working in close proximity to people and/or if you are working in a Support/Health/Nursery Worker capacity etc, you should be washing your 'pits and bits' daily, before work.

StinkyMcgrinky · 20/08/2017 11:52

I'm a night showerer. Leave for work at 6am and got home around 6pm and jump in the shower before bed, I don't like getting into bed with the days grease and grime on me. I like my bedroom really cool and am not a sweaty person so no smells in the morning.

I just can't find the energy to worry about when other people shower
