To not wash in the morning?

I start very early - usually before 7 - and often don't get back till about half nine so I shower then. Then in the morning I just put my uniform on and go. AIBU?

I think if you're sure you aren't smelly then it's fine. You aren't affecting anyone. I hate leaving the house without showering. I actually had to do it this morning and I've felt grim all day and all out of sorts. (I'm heading to the shower now.) But my mental health is really closely tied to my personal hygiene and I know if I don't shower then I'm getting ill again and not showering also causes me to slip down too so it's pretty much one of the most important things I can do everyday.

Welshmaenad · 19/08/2017 18:42

I shower at night, and don't need to in the mornings. I'm not especially sweaty, I use antiperspirant and I have a bidet. Nobody has ever complained that I smell of 'overnight sweat'.

Too much showing makes my skin dry.

SleightOfHand · 19/08/2017 18:42

Sounds fine OP.

LoniceraJaponica · 19/08/2017 18:43

"It doesn't matter what time you start work, most people shower beforehand. It's basic hygiene."

Utter, utter bollocks.

I usually shower in the morning, but sometimes I shower at night and don't in the morning. I am not a sweaty person. Perhaps you are?

BackieJerkhart · 19/08/2017 18:44

I often shower in the evenings too after work but I'm a sweaty sleeper so can't really skip a morning shower.

Digestive28 · 19/08/2017 18:44

I don't understand why we bath children at night and it's fine but if adults bathe at night it's suddenly unhygienic?

I shower before bed hoping to be on a promise, just shave, face & Deo in the morning.

BackieJerkhart · 19/08/2017 18:46

anutteridiot I used to wash my hair every single day since I was a teen but I started stretching out between washes about a year ago and only do twice a week now. My hair is in so much better condition than it was before.

Piratesandpants · 19/08/2017 18:46

As long as you shower once in a 24 hour period it really doesn't matter when.

yellowlanterns · 19/08/2017 18:47

This is my logic too Pirates

I always shower at night, never in the morning, can't stand putting clothes on while I still have that just-showered feeling. I don't see anything wrong with it - I definitely don't smell Hmm

QuestionableMouse · 19/08/2017 18:48

I don't shower every day. I live it when people trot out 'oh, a shower only takes give minutes'.... Err not for me it doesn't. I have mega thick hair and it takes longer than five minutes just to wash that! I've just gone four days without showering and I didn't smell.

Showering every day (and twice a day!) is such a waste of water unless you sweat loads or do a particularly filthy job.

trinity0097 · 19/08/2017 18:48

I shower every other evening, I leave home just before 6am, having got up at 5.15am, I am not getting up earlier to shower.

AddUpToNothing · 19/08/2017 18:49

I only have a bath in my house. So I bath at night, never the morning.

I don't sweat at night either. I think it's perfectly fine to not shower in the morning of you did the previous night.

I shower in the evening also there's nothing wrong with it.

AztecHero · 19/08/2017 18:53

DH showers at night only and does not smell. He does not even use deoderant as he has quite sensitive skin. But he genuinely does not smell.

I shower morning and night, often do a quick freshen up during the day. I sweat very badly.

LoniceraJaponica · 19/08/2017 18:53

"I will put myself as someone who only washes her (very thick and tending to dry/coarse) hair twice a week, which I know from previous threads is considered beyond disgusting by most MNers."

Console yourself with the fact that they probably have lank and greasy hair. I have dry hair and if I wash it more than twice a week it looks like straw.

"Err not for me it doesn't. I have mega thick hair and it takes longer than five minutes just to wash that! I've just gone four days without showering and I didn't smell."

You can use a shower cap you know, and not wash your hair. This is what I do.

user9512736123 · 19/08/2017 18:53

you can have a shower without getting your hair wet - I have waist length hair and I can't get it wet in the shower. Not having a shower before work is gross.

LazySusan11 · 19/08/2017 18:54

I am getting up at 4am tomorrow a shower wakes me up and I like feeling clean. I'll also be showering before bed. I couldn't deal with my dh if he didn't shower in the morning, some people just look grubby if they don't. If you don't smell it's your choice.

Ollivander84 · 19/08/2017 18:54

I shower at night, and sometimes every other day. No smell. To top it off I wash my hair with conditioner only and never use shampoo Grin

sunglassally · 19/08/2017 18:54

I'm wondering why OP is asking.

Surely if s/he is comfortable with personal hygeine there is no problem.

Has someone said something to you OP or what?

Otherwise, keep to your routine. Many people don't wash for days Yeew. and they still think they are clean because they wash their face.

yellowlanterns · 19/08/2017 18:55

I hate using shower caps; the bits around your scalp get damp and being shoved under a shower cap turns my hair into a strange shape.
