Do your family take it in turns to pump on the Christmas tree?

DSs friend has just asked me this. He said at Christmas, whilst putting the tree up the whole family take it in turns to pump on it. He then asked, dead seriously "do your family do the same thing?". DS looked at me as though we'd been missing an essential part of Christmas all these years.

AIBU to think this is beyond weird to say to your mates mum??!

PollyFlint that's brilliant ! It's set me off again ...

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 14/08/2017 21:41

To be fair it's no worse than the bloke having a crap at the back of the nativity scene Wink

Caganer

QueenNefertitty · 14/08/2017 21:41

HOWLING Grinive just woken the baby up laughing, and it's so worth it Grin

MayhemandMadness01 · 14/08/2017 21:43

Not on your nelly, I'm far too posh to pump

Dancinginthemidnight · 14/08/2017 21:44

I literally laughed out loud at the Hark the hairy anus sings. We don't pump on our Christmas tree here. I asked Dp if he did when he was younger and he said nooooooo.

SerfTerf · 14/08/2017 21:45

😱

yorkshapudding · 14/08/2017 21:45

But I have so many questions! Is it a sort of competition? Who can do the loudest pump sort of thing? Otherwise why take turns? Surely all pumping on the tree together in unison would be better...more christmassy, you know what with Christmas being about harmony and togetherness and all that.

Bluntness100 · 14/08/2017 21:46

Sweetie, I think he's doing what teenage boys do, he's having you on and your husband knows it.

DorisMcSweeney · 14/08/2017 21:47

My OH decided to unofficially play the role of The Caganer in our youngster's nativity play a few years ago. With good behaviour he'll be out in time for Christmas this year.

Redglitter · 14/08/2017 21:47

You need to find out more. Is it just when the trees put up. Is it a general thing? I'd it like opening their advent calendar everyone does one every day.

You can't just tell us half a story Grin

viques · 14/08/2017 21:47

I always thought it was fir tree not fart tree.

WhatABaklava · 14/08/2017 21:49

Silent but violent night

ReanimatedSGB · 14/08/2017 21:50

It has taken me several minutes to stop laughing so I can type something.
This is going to be some kiddish dare or game as to who can make a mate's parents believe the wierdest thing, I reckon.

But, also, thankyou Raptor for informing us about the Caganer.

"Mumsnet is SO educational."

WhooooAmI24601 · 14/08/2017 21:51

The DCs like a good fart and not long ago DS2 deliberately tried to fart in the back of the car on a very long journey. He pushed and pushed and suddenly we heard "ooh" and a quiet voice saying "I think a bit popped out". Nobody is allowed to deliberately fart in our house any more. Motorway service stations were not designed for picking shitnuts out of small boys pantaloons.

Christmas pumps be damned.

fourandnomore · 14/08/2017 21:53

I say pump and my southern husband thinks it is hilarious (ne here too). I have tears rolling down my face, my phone hand is wet from them falling and I haven't laughed this much in ages. Thank you, I really needed that. No, never heard of it. I too thought it was a typo for turn as in turn on the lights but I'm so glad it wasn't now!! Smile

CryingMessFFS · 14/08/2017 21:54

FFS farting on a Christmas Tree 😂😂 that is weird yet funny!

CockacidalManiac · 14/08/2017 21:54

Perhaps they're trying to do this?
