...to ask if you regret buying a Dyson?

I AM being unreasonable posting here for traffic but I'm half an hour away from buying a Dyson Animal and want to be sure it's worth the extra £100 on Henry!

We have a 3 bed house, a Labrador,10 year old and a baby so need something fairly reliable- last vacuum lasted just over 7 months as couldn't cope with the fucking ridiculous amount of dog hair

Tell me... are Dysons worth it?!

Our dyson is the best thing we ever purchased. We have a cordless as we have two sets of stairs and get fed up of plugging it in and carrying a heavy one about. We have the animal one too and it's great with pet hair ~and mine~.
Never had a henry though so I can't compare.
I actually hoover regularly now!

dollydaydream114 · 13/08/2017 10:54

Had mine for about 15 years and it's great. Never had any issues with it and it works brilliantly.

Topseyt · 13/08/2017 10:55

I like mine. Had it a fair few years now. Can't comment on Henry as I've never had one, but I know some people love them.

Deadsouls · 13/08/2017 10:55

NO I literally love my dyson...
Picks up minuscule molecules of skin, hair etc
It's brilliant

Pombliboo123 · 13/08/2017 10:56

We were given one as DPs partners mum had bought a new one and I didn't think it was that great, I would have been annoyed if I had bought it.

We have a vax pets which I much prefer (2 hairy dogs) although it is heavy and cumbersome to push/pull about.

justcanthide · 13/08/2017 10:56

Mine has just conked out and I find it really heavy to carry around. Wouldn't get one again.

PandoraExplorer · 13/08/2017 10:57

My mum had 3. Broke every 5 mins and ended up costing a fortune in repairs. I'd never have one now.

KinkyAfro · 13/08/2017 10:57

Dyson here too, much better than Henry and I've also had a Vax. Dyson wins hands down

moutonfou · 13/08/2017 10:57

I do regret buying an upright. I do much prefer the Henry 'format' I.e. a unit on wheels that you pull round with you. But I believe Dyson do those anyway?

Notreallyarsed · 13/08/2017 10:58

I've wanted one for years and finally managed to buy the dyson animal a few months ago. I love it, it's my pride and joy Grin I have severe OCD and dust/crumbs are part of it and it's amazing for really getting rid of them. All the wee attachments are fab too.

MrsC2000 · 13/08/2017 10:58

Always had dysons and just upgraded to a cordless because it just make stairs much easier. Can't imagine having anything else and have got a cat and dog which sheds lots of hair

justilou · 13/08/2017 10:59

My cordless carked it after four months. It has been repaired twice and has next to no suction. I have a shark and I love it. (For a vacuum, anyway)

DumbledoresArmy · 13/08/2017 11:00

We've got a Dyson.
It is ok but not amazing. Quite heavy & clumsy.
We had a Tesco one prior & that was better!!

I don't think I'd get one again unless on a good offer.

Letstryagainshallwe · 13/08/2017 11:01

I hate my Henry!! Well hetty. I would take a dyson over it any day!

Argeles · 13/08/2017 11:02

Dyson is by far the best. We've had Henry's (absolute shite), and a couple of other uprights, but we wouldn't bother with anything else now. We've had ours for nearly 7 years, and it's still good as new.

misskelly · 13/08/2017 11:02

Don't have a dyson but had a Henry and would have happily kicked the thing to death. It is very cumbersome, even though the lead is long the hose isn't. I can't tell you the number of times I'd be hovering and the thing would roll up and wack me in the legs or the nozzle bits would fall off.

Ofalltheginjoints · 13/08/2017 11:03

I love my Cordless Dyson, I bought it in May the first one I've had and I definitely don't regret it.

I have a disability and it's made life much easier as it is so lightweight go for it!

Love my dyson hairdryer...

livelyredjellybean · 13/08/2017 11:04

My MIL has just bought one of those Gtech Air Ram pet hoover things to replace her dyson and she loves it.

TidyDancer · 13/08/2017 11:05

We have the Dyson cordless animal one. It's brilliant. Bought in January when we moved so can't speak to its longevity but I had two upright Dyson hoovers previously and each lasted 10+ years. This one picks up dirt and hair like you wouldn't believe.

...to ask if you regret buying a Dyson?
Unicorn81 · 13/08/2017 11:05

I loved my upright dyson and now love my cordless, had other makes but dyson my fav

whippetwoman · 13/08/2017 11:06

Actually hate our Dyson and much prefer my mum's Henry! The Dyson just doesn't have the suction but am happy to admit it could just be our machine that's rubbish.

CookieDoughKid · 13/08/2017 11:07

No way. I had Dyson for 10 years. I've been a loyal customer with several models including Dyson animal. I bought a Miele and will never ever go back. I've never had to clear the vacuum head tangled hair as in the Miele there is no rotating brush. And I've gone back to bags which is just brilliant as no having to get my hands dirty again!!

Lou573 · 13/08/2017 11:07

Nope, had an upright and a handheld Dyson, both conked out as did a vax. Gave up on bagless and went for a Miele - love it. So easy to move around and amazing suction.
