Just that really, I just feel that sometimes everything feels like it set up to help the dull.. Hang around for ages and you get promoted, don't have any interests or a social life, get a great credit rating, stay in one house for years and all the banks trust you, don't ever stick out, don't ever get hassled etc etc etc. .

But you are not "dull" and by your own admission you are miserable, constrained and limited.

What is so great about being the anti-dullard like you? Why would I pay more money to someone who is miserable constrained and limited instead of to someone who is content and happy? Doesn't make sense.

It sounds like you want someone to give you a lot of money for ... what exactly? Being wonderful you?

MagdaS · 12/08/2017 21:12

Is slate OK on houses?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 12/08/2017 21:13

Money: the root of all evil

Jealousy is a terrible trait.

MeanAger · 12/08/2017 21:13

Maybe you don't do your office work as well as you think you do if you aren't getting promotions.

humblesims · 12/08/2017 21:13

I just think low income should go to people who actually want a get up work go to bed life. I choose something else...
Thats hilarious. Seriously. What are you on?!

PacificDogwod · 12/08/2017 21:14

Well, if I was the Chief of Everything then footballers and pop stars would not make gazillions, and care workers would make more, but, you know, market forces n'all that.

You are basically saying that if somebody used their income to do something exciting with it (something you deem exciting, of course) they should get paid more than is their lives are (what you judge as) boring??

Get a grip.

MeanAger · 12/08/2017 21:15

Are you expecting your employer to give you a pay rise because you go on the sesh loads and wear bright nails? Maybe give your employer something to reward and you'll get rewarded.

OhTheRoses · 12/08/2017 21:15

We are incredibly dull.

Both worked hard.
Practising Christians
Bed early, up early
Refused nights out in our 20s
Been together 28 years
Like everything neat, everything tidy
No high fashion, rather serious

All that awful dullness.
Typing from our home in the South of France - can see the harbour lights - had a lovely late lunch here for 10 - some of our guests left by boat.
We'll be in bed in half an hour.
Recharging our batteries until we get back to work.

Is that dull enough for you op? The fruits of dullness eh. But who says we've never challenged the status quo. Even the dc are starting to raise an eyebrow and ask for advice. DS has just shocked us to the core telling us he might do a law conversion. Grin. DH almost spat wine across the table after years of his rebellion.

Slimthistime · 12/08/2017 21:15

Scary " I have to really struggle and strain to do the same thing two days in a row"

I frequently think I'm going to die of boredom at work, but it's better than most other jobs I've done. It's how I get bills paid, yes. I'm not going to go off to try something else because i like having my bills paid and savings so I can pack it in early and enjoy myself. I have hobbies and a social life. The company of friends is free!

toolonglurking · 12/08/2017 21:16

I think that by your standards I live quite a dull life, but I fucking love it. I've paid off my mortgage, am a sahm to one (soon to be two) children and I spend my life walking the dog, playing, enjoying myself and eating nice food.

scaryclown · 12/08/2017 21:18

Yes! I find it odd that the tedious it bloke has a £6000 bike for a three mile journey, and all the people who could really enjoy that money are earning less. You would think the salary negotiation with dull people would be 'i know you have enough money for your boring life, so no raise' but dull people seem to like giving other dull people money just to spend on more expensive dull things..
It's like a dulleconomy of tedium... Hmph

We once employed a Terribly Exciting Person.
Who regularly was 'unwell' on Mondays.
There was performance management proceedings and in the end they decided to leave.
We are very happy with the subsequently employed Dull Person that was hired who seems to be able to actual do what they are hired to do with reliability.

BattleaxeGalactica · 12/08/2017 21:18

You struggle to do the same thing two days in a row?

Oh, so edgy Hmm

Gorgosparta · 12/08/2017 21:19

So people should get paid less deoending on your opinion of how they use their spare time?

I think you think you are exciting, where as most people you know woild describe you as irresponsible.

You are simply jealous. Thats it. You dont have the means to the things you want. She does, bit doesnt do it. Probably because she doesnt want to do those things. Which isnt wrong.

Maybe you need some help?

Olivo · 12/08/2017 21:19

Blimey! I am a dullard, like to head to bed at 9.30, even at the weekend, work my butt off all week ( and yes, got promoted probably for being where I am for a while but it also being known for working hard at what I do) I a. Not afraid to speak out however. I have lived In the same place now for. 15 years, but have previously lived in various other countries. I like routine, I rarely go out socialising, I'm too knackered. I don't mind Conforming, mostly. But I have worked hard to be where I am, dull or not dull.

Themostannoyingperson · 12/08/2017 21:19

Scary I am with you. I live in a commuter town so literally everyone who moved in recently are clones...from the early morning mummy run, to the weekend cycle with the kids to the school ( plus swimming, rugby, water polo, debating) in the excessive car.
None of the women would have children outside marriage hence the high complaint rate against partners ( offset by how much he earns in London) and subsequencly divorce from crap blokes having affairs . ..mren have to tick the wife, child, good job box by 30 hence the high rate of affairs once they get to 40 and realise it's dull as fuck.
Yes I might of had a drink.

PurpleDaisies · 12/08/2017 21:20

I find it odd that the tedious it bloke has a £6000 bike for a three mile journey, and all the people who could really enjoy that money are earning less.

I bet he doesn't find riding that bike dull.

It sounds like you want to decide for everybody which hobbies are dull and which are exciting.

MeanAger · 12/08/2017 21:20

Wow! I bet you're popular at work. You sound really nasty. I bet that IT man really enjoys his £6k bike.

Gorgosparta · 12/08/2017 21:21

Oh and i love my 'dull' life.

Except its not dull. Its just stable.

Wages arent paid on what you want to spend your money. Else drug addicts woild be the highest paid.

scaryclown · 12/08/2017 21:21

It is, can you imagine my 'combination of things to do' matrix?

OP posts:
Slimthistime · 12/08/2017 21:21

Pacific, was that person still on drug withdrawal on Tuesday?

In my last workplace we used to say you're only doing it right if you're still high on Monday and then on a downer Tuesday.

However, performance related bonuses didn't factor in boring or interesting Grin

annandale · 12/08/2017 21:21

Oh honestly scary what's going on? This makes no sense at all. Yes people who don't go out at all week to week will be able to afford a much more exciting holiday because they've saved up. That's life. If you're not enjoying your life maybe try to find dull /free things (to other people) you enjoy? Everything's dull to someone.

PantPlot · 12/08/2017 21:22

So we know you don't like car loans, slate or expensive bikes Grin

How do you spend your cash?

ShootingQuadrantids · 12/08/2017 21:22

BrainSaysNo · 12/08/2017 21:22

I don't really think you are living the life, you're on a internet site on a Saturday evening droning on...
Grin
