Met a guy got on well.
Had two dates previous and split the bill 50/50 and always have done as I think the man shouldn't pay BUT last night we went out to the pub and I was ordering a cocktail and him a pint.
I said "oh il get this round and you can get the next"
He said "your cocktail costs more than my pint"
I didn't even think about the price,I just thought rather than us buying drinks separate.
So I just got the drinks separately.
I would of happily got a cheaper drink or got him a more expensive but at this point I was a bit taken back.
My cocktail was £4.25 and his best £3.65 so not a lot of difference.
Now I'm thinking he is a bit tight?

Money and sex are connected then;)

HelenaDove · 06/08/2017 01:00

YY Van Halen. Ex and i had great sexual chemistry but his tightwaddery which was borderline financial abuse IMO had the same effect as a cold shower.

Justaboy · 06/08/2017 01:02

HelenaDove I think we can conclude the world is an imperfect place then;!(

HelenaDove · 06/08/2017 01:09

Yes Justaboy Agreed. People can be a mass of contradictions.

tessieandoz · 06/08/2017 01:15

Yeuk

Madwoman5 · 06/08/2017 01:24

You should have made a point of offering to pay the 55p and then left. Tightarse. Bin him.

Coastalcommand · 06/08/2017 02:00

Years ago I was on a date with a man who spent a long queue at a cinema box office telling me how well off he was (I know, I know, but I was young). I suggested that one of us would get the tickets (student special so £3) and the other the drinks and popcorn (about the same). He refused as there was a 20p difference, and bought his single ticket. I walked out and left him to it.

WiganPierre · 06/08/2017 02:42

Oh, OP... how could you sleep with him after that?! Why did you even go on a second date with him? Please tell me you have dumped him!

SabineUndine · 06/08/2017 03:03

A right fanny-dryer. I'd dump him by text and tell him he wasn't VFM.

HelenaDove · 06/08/2017 03:09

Sorry to be thick but whats VFM?

WhoreOfBabyliss · 06/08/2017 07:28

cursed Egyptian tomb Grin Grin Grin

WhoreOfBabyliss · 06/08/2017 07:28

OH fuck! I'll have The Bangles in my head all day now.

HildaWazzo · 06/08/2017 07:48

HelenaDove VFM = value for money

AprilShowers16 · 06/08/2017 07:55

To offer a slightly different angle could it be that he's been single for a long time and it just doesn't occur to him? Probably a bit of a long shot but if he's nice in other ways and doesn't seem like the type to be tight then maybe worth bringing it up and seeing what he says. If he gets really defensive/doesn't see the problem then end it

Aeroflotgirl · 06/08/2017 07:59

April manners maketh the man, he has none! No excuses, he's a rude, tight arse, who mean in bed too.

crazyhorses3 · 06/08/2017 08:01

Tight. Dump him.

LazaUbi · 06/08/2017 09:04

Uuuggghh. There is nothing less attractive than a miser.

I'd be put off by behaviour like this over 60p (!) towards a friend or acquaintance, let alone a date.

Lynnm63 · 06/08/2017 13:31

There wouldn't have been a third date to shag him if he'd pulled the stunt with the beer at the bowling alley. If he hadn't bought me a drink when he bought himself a pint I'd have collected my stuff and left him there right then.
I hate tightness more than most traits other than uncontrolled gambling.

Tight is incredibly unattractive. Dump him.

fullofhope03 · 06/08/2017 16:37

miami - imo it's not fair enough for him not to/never offer to buy you a drink. If he's a tight arse now, when you've only just started dating, what on earth will he be like as time goes by? And also, agree with others re meanness being an extremely unattractive trait. xx

TSSDNCOP · 06/08/2017 16:41

I have been known to sprint to the bar to get drinks in and avoid looking tight. Whether partner or friend, I cannot abide penny pinching in social situations that you've accepted an invite to attend.

Roussette · 06/08/2017 16:56

I hate hate hate tight arses. I went out with one before DH (who is so generous he'd give the shirt of his back) and it was awful.

Basically, I'm generous, I pay my way etc but hate 'totting up'. I just pay whatever whenever and if someone is like me, it tends to work out pretty even. If you are similar it doesn't even need to be discussed, it just happens because you're both generous types.

Previous bloke... went out for about 6 months god knows why and he would say... 'ahhh but don't you remember back in March I paid for the cinema, so you owe me for 2 rounds of drinks tonight'. Awful.

OP, get rid. It won't improve. A generous type of person is generous in spirit and generous with love.
