Amazon Mistake WWYD?

Hi everyone

Last night I ordered a babygate and baby cutlery from amazon prime to be delivered today.

This morning, the cutlery arrived and so did the babygate, or so I thought. Turns out that amazon have sent me a ball pit and pack of 100 balls. No babygate.

The ball pit and balls are exactly the same as what we ordered and received some 8 months ago! I've just had an email to say that the babygate I ordered has been disbatched, no mention of the ballpit they've accidentally sent me.

AIBU to keep the ballpit and say nothing? Would you keep it or return it?

I'm with hiphopfrog. And to those who say 'but what about China?' etc etc, we have to start somewhere, we can't just wash our hands. We'll, I can't.

It happened to me as well, except that the dispatched item I really order then had its starus changed to delivered, confirming that amazon sent the wrong item and not an extra item.
Called them to resolve it, for some reason they couldn't send me a printout for free postage to return the incorrect item and told me I had to go to the Post Office, pay for postage and wait to be refunded.
I said no way, talked for 15min to someone, asked for supervisor etc, and they ended up telling me to keep the wrong item (and the correct one would arrive soon after)

They often let you keep stuff anyway as the cost to send out for pick up is not worth the item.

This has happened to me twice:

First time I ordered a wash bag and got send two light up scooter wheels...I mentioned that they wouldn't be a very good gift for a 28 year old man with no scooter. They arranged to swap with the person down the road who'd received my washbag.

Second time I ordered a cat bowl (my life is VERY exciting) and got sent some expensive wireless headphones. They told me to keep them, sent me the cat bowl, and I sold the headphones on.

I think they honestly can't be bothered to arrange collection. If you do receive a second gate just phone and see what they say, they'll almost definitely say to keep it.

Let them know about the incorrect item. I recently ordered an item that turned out too small for my child and I informed them of this expecting to return it, they just refunded the money and didn't request I return it. I wouldn't not let them know they sent the wrong item and just keep it as that is stealing, irrespective if it's a mistake.

You should hang your head in absolute shame and ask almost definitely hand your self in to the local police station as you're nothing but a cold blooded ball pit thief.

Ha I'm kidding I am astounded. I would keep the darn thing. You're not a thief as you didn't take anything. Someone delivered an item to you in a box in error. I don't know about most people but I'm constantly chasing my tail. Emailing amazon, arranging a pick up time and taping it up. I think they'd prefer you didn't bother for the sake of £15. I know everyone loves a drama but no small business will lose out as they'll claim from amazon as it's they're mistake. Also who ever compared her keeping the call pit to amazon taking a double payment for a single item.. it's not the same. The poster did 'take' anything.

God people need to get out more. Have a gin and tonic or maybe a shag and stop getting your knickers in a knot.

The thread has moved on much since then, nonamesleft. That's where reading the thread helps. Update was that apparently, and by great coincidence the BIL sent the very same pit as a surprise gift. 'Evidenced' by a snapchat conversation with somebody much later on.
